Today his son, Jeremy, is riding/racing the LL Qualifier at Hollister on a KTM 65.

Huh? Hollister. Ryan. Motocross.

There's A LOT of History there!

Here's hoping that "History Repeats".

I also know how ya feel when ya see old pics of Danny, too.

We're lucky, you & I...

Kinda funny, runnin' into Rick while making my way down to Baja for the 250...we go waaaaay back.

So, Hangtown, needs to be a "Gathering"...?

It's really cool hearing stories like this. Love hearing about older ex-pro's coming out with their kids and starting all over again.

It's in the blood man!

Dude if i can get our slide projector to work, i have a HUGE box chuck full of epic pics from back in the day, from the early 70's at HH and races going up through the early 80's. I have been wanting to go through them and pick out a bunch to have scanned.

Back around 76'ish at HH Ricky rode a RM100 and my dad would have to hold his bike up so he could start it lol To stop he would pull up to a picknick bench and step off, he was so tiny he couldnt come close to touching the ground. But good ole Jimbo (his pop) was sick of him tearing apart RM80's so he was riding 100-125's by the time he was only 10 or 11 yrs old.

We had such good times back in the day at HH when the Wosicks owned the store. Some of the best memories of my life!

Scottie,
I would love to see some of those old pics,we raced all the same track at the same time.
I remember Rick on that RM100 with the cut down seat, when he turned Intermediate
I chased him at all the Nor-cal tracks.

I gotta do it man!

btw: such a small world bro! we were prob at SO many of the same races, If you were around Ricky in the early 80's, i was with him. He was so good to me, treated and took care of me like a little brother, and he LOVED my mom, if you know his fam situation...you get it. he even called her mom Cool

He would come pick me up from school and we would go practice out at PAL during the week. Remember his toyota truck? the black one? I was only 14 and he would pick me up, toss me the keys and say, you drive. LOL The guy was such a nut!

First time i saw him after i got hurt was kinda tough, he was kinda kicking the wheel of my chair saying, "man we gotta get you outa this thing!" He wanted to take me riding at just duct tape me to the pegs and stick it in 3rd gear lol

I was speaking with Ricky Rinauro last week at 408mx, and he mentioned that both of Rick Ryan's kids were now riding, and going pretty good. He also said Rick had recently moved his family from Saratoga down to Hollister area and bought a "fixer upper", but more importantly, the house has land for a track. From what Runario said, he has, or is building one for the kids.

When I spoke to Rick (Ryan) back in 2010 (and the day the photo posted above was taken with his kid), only one of his boys wanted to ride, while the other one was doing other stuff and not as interested in MX. Sounds like things might have changed!

Also, in that pic, the kid is running #10, and chose that because that was his dads lowest national number. Pretty cool.

Ricky is one tough dude. When we spoke in 2010, he was old school - no cell phone, no email, and no bullshit.

Back in the 1980's Lakewood Colorado had a national. In 1987 Rick practiced the day before the race in a field behind our house which was pretty close to the track. My son and I got to watch him and talk to him quite a bit that day. I was a flagger at that event so afterwards we got to talk with him again. He gave my son his number 12 race jersey which he still has. He is a good guy. Dymond won the overall that day and Rick was third.

I remember when he won the Daytona SX and afterwards couldn't stand up cause of his bum knee.

Scottie, this photo reminds me of 1986. Rick, Jack Hulse (tall guy on the left) and I piled into my little Toyota and drove to Las Vegas for a Gary Bailey School. They tested my patience a bit, but a good memory now. Rick and Dean together would REALLY test my patience!

Jack, Rick, Dean Madson I got all those guys old hand me downs. I still have an old gear bag at my parents house with worn out JT, Team Tamm, Tuff racing, and a bunch of that Wolf gear Gary Rabe was selling.
Those guys where always up to something and most of the time it was.... Well, It might have been wrong but it was a hell-a lot of fun.
I remember coming home from school and hearing people riding on my parents back property. Jack and his friends where ripping it up. In the back we had an uphill sort of gravity cavity jump. One guy turned around at the top and went down the uphill into the cavity WFO and launched halfway down the hill. My jaw dropped, thats when I first came to know Ricky Ryan.

LOL, I had a few pair of boots from Dean, he used to stay with us when his pops was flying. We raised some hell on my Yamahopper for sure...
