Danica of motocross

With Danica having a good showing at the Daytona 500, does anyone think we will ever see someone like Ashley Fiolek ever compete with the boys?

for people that don't follow NASCAR, basically any "professional" driver can be successful or wind up with a good finish at a restrictor-plate track. (Daytona-Talladega)

her results will fall off drastically...starting next week at Phoenix. around the 25th-32nd position. Stamp It.

nope

The difference between male and female in car racing is minute compared to other sports where physicality matters.

Come on man, let's not due this. Isn't it bad enough we have women headlining a UFC fight, now you want to throw this crap out there just because some gal can drive a car around a circle? I hope you are joking, and put this in the dumbgeon right now.

The best women rider in the world cannot keep pace with your average b rider.

Nope. The sport is too physical and there's too much of a gap in genetics. I'd love to see it but it won't happen.

Yes, it can happen. There aren't enough women participating right now to have that perfect storm. Strength, size, and skill. That's just how I see it.

I love when the girls beat the boys at boy sports, but no way is it happening in pro mx, ever!

There is a girl from New Zealand named Courtney Duncan who is REALLY good. She is still pretty young (16?), but it will be interesting to see how far she can get.

nascar is more about the team then the driver. they win as a team where mx they work as a team and the rider does all the work

Vicki Golden (2x X-Games Women SX champ) raced the Montreal Supercross last fall and was 15 seconds a lap slower than Goerke... She did beat some local pros and it was really cool but no... you'll never see a girl making the top 40 at an AMA race.

The top women in tennis couldn't beat the man ranked 300th-400th or something like that and you know those top girls are really really serious about it.

Hopefully they show the in-car footage of her on YouTube... I'm curious what kind of sandwich she was making

I don't see it ever happening in MX. The best women riders have never been able to get anywhere near the top and I am not too confident of ever seeing it happen.

And to those that think it is easy "driving around in a circle" why dont you ask the GOAT how easy it was as his failed attempt at driving ended last year. Not sure too many of you keyboard warriors could make it through a McDonald's drive thru without smacking curbs.....try driving bumper to bumper at 200mph and let me know how easy it is

Danica is a vey intelligent driver and she drove an outstanding race at one of the most difficult races on the schedule. Looking forward to watching her the rest of the season

She's the real deal this one, 4th in the world on an 85 against the boys 2 years ago, moved up onto a 125 now and just won the 125 class at the first round of the NZ nationals 2 weeks ago. I spoke with a guy I ride with who raced her that day, "insane and rides like a man" was the comment.. I think she has just turned 17 and is on her way over to the states right now. From memory she did very well against the boys at Ponca city in 11 or 12 and cleaned up the women's classes. Watch out over there, I'd say you will see her at Loretta Lynns and possibly in the WMA this year.
She is @CDuncan151 on the twitter machine.

If memory serves me correctly, didn't Tara Geiger ride for Team Porto Rico in the MXDN a couple years ago? They didn't qualify for the Main but I don't know how Geiger finished in the B event.

I could see it being more realistic in the lites class, met Zach Bell this weekend, no offense because he is lighting fast but he is half the size of the scantily clad monster/rockstar/falken etc models everywhere at a race.

didnt bill jean king beat some top tennis dde in the70s? there are no top women who could top 30 a national or even qualify. but i think its possible. there are lots of scrawny kids who haul ass. take ac for example. he pprobably has top 15 speed.? there are lots of female athletes with more strength and endurance then him. mx isnt football or rugby, cardio, cordination, balance etc trump pure strength.i believe we will see a top 20 female eventually.. i m not a golf fan but could the top broad top 20 a pga event?

She definitely hauls. I don't remember any other girls ever running that competitively with boys in minis.

i remember getting passed by a girl at millville one year on 85's, probably the worst feeling ever is seeing that pony tail go ripping past you. and ive never understood how guys can date girls that are faster than them i would kill myself. (not to be sexist or anything)

If you had a girl that has the body of Serena Williams and the upbringing of MA800, yes it will eventually happen.
Right now the talent pool is too small. But it won't be long (10 years) before you start to see women break
into the men's competition.

She is good! She beat our club champion in all 3 races last NZ round. And he is no slow poke.

Courtney Duncan I think can qualify for a US 250 outdoor in the next few years,

at the first round of the NZ senior MX champs she put a lap time that was 11th overall on a 125, less than 2 seconds behind Justin McDonald was on his 450, Justin earned a top 100 number a few years ago in the states doing the outdoor nationals,

She was 6 seconds off BT101 fastest lap, that would put her pretty close to being in the 250F field i think,

http://www.mylaps.com/results/showrun.jsp?id=2566069

she landing in states this week, ready to do some amateur nationals for the JGR Yamaha am team, some boys are going to be put to shame, she can haul,

I sort of see it as being a Freak Genetics/Perfect Technique thing more than a Physical Strength thing...

...but ya know they ain't got no balls neither.
