whoop section, rhythm section, triple.... Nothing is a great idea after the start. Let's just make it a roundy round.

IDK what your talking about. All I see is a long double double section. Woohoo

Anytime you can get through the first corner and not have to worry about getting landed on at least through the second corner is a good deal.

This is getting old. Whoops are a bad idea after the start. Triples are a bad idea after the start. Rhythm sections are a bad idea after the start. Please tell me what you suggest they do instead? Each element of the track has to go somewhere.

Holeshot incentive.
No problem.
Girly riders should stay home where it's safe.

The whoop section doesn't seem too sketchy. It looks like there's a wall right in front of it to slow the riders down. The thing that I noticed that might be a little dangerous is the rhythm section after the start/finish where you triple into a sand section.

So you think the whoops give EXTRA incentive to try to get a holeshot? I guess they don't really care on other layouts. Brilliant.

I guess RV is a 'girly rider'.

“We had a set of whoops right after the start and that makes it a little bit hairball, along with another set right into a triple,” said Villopoto. “I wouldn’t say it was the greatest idea, but a holeshot makes your life easy and you stay out of those mistakes.

I do not think whoops or triples should be in the first 2 racing lanes. Always go with a rhythm section to properly separate the riders.

The actual track is going to change to swap the whoops and rhythm section.

Feld should just let vital design all the tracks because it is where all the experts gather. But then there'd be nothing for them to bitch about, quite the predicament.

this was Kevin Windham's transfer line last year, maybe they should let him design the tracks from now on

What is wrong with a start in the whoops ?
Of course this is my opinion and a theory, which has been formed over many years of watching and attending supercross races, and this even goes beyond what happened to Trey Canard with the triples and Chad Reed in the whoops recently. To me it is not totally a danger thing, but instead it is about allowing the race to properly unfold - and to give the fans the best race possible.

I have personally seen it happen time and time again with these particular circumstances, triples and whoops right out of the gate. I have even made it a point to watch for these situations, like a freaking racing detective.

Triples and whoops create a bad racing situation out of the first turn, besides the possibilty for major carnage. They can actually separate the field too much right out of the gate. Often only the first rider, or first few riders, are able to do the obstacle correctly, blitz the whoops or triple the triples. The rest of the field is left to tip toe thru the section while the lucky few race away. Maybe that is racing, but I am looking for ways to provide the best racing possible.

I have seen guys get the holeshot and clear the triple while 2nd place is unable to do it for whatever reason, and the rest of the 18 guys behind him can't do it either. Same with the whoops. The first few guys get thru cleanly and the rest are left rolling them because of the large amount of riders in the area at the same time.

I simply believe that 2 rhythm section lanes right off of the start would allow the race to better unfold in most circumstances.

I dunno. How about asking Stewart and Reed (I'm sure I'm leaving one fastest man on the planet or another out) what kind of section they can get through after the first turn without taking themselves and anybody else out so we get to see a nice, clean, competitive race to the checkers (or, excuse me...

They've both crashed on just about every obstacle coming out of a first turn. Heck they've even crashed before the first turn in the straight.

Should we just eliminate starts altogether?
