I don't know if this has been discussed here already (sorry if it has) but Eli finally stated to me on the record that he hopes to be on a 450 starting at Atlanta. He's set to do some testing on the bike this Tuesday and if all goes well, that's the plan. It will be a factory Honda with Geico graphics...

Bad-friggin'-Ass!!

Thanks swap! It was discussed in another thread just earlier today.....but it was all just speculation as to weather Eli would do it or not. Good news is......he wants to! Hopefully the Geico team stands behind him!

450's just got that much more stacked.

well no doubt he will be right in there - top 7 easily I expect as would Kenny if he decides to do some on the 350 again.

Top 7?
The way the season is going, I would not be surprised to see Tomac win a round.....doubt very much if we will see K-ROC on a big bike now.

yeah Jock I agree 100%, but top 7 is a given i expect.

but:

What makes you think 94 won't? because he has the points lead? I am pretty sure he already said he was looking to do it and it makes sense as they stay race sharp, i know there are risks to it but I think the benefits are obvious.

There is no way they will want Eli coming back on full race form and them being out of touch.

This could really interfere with the points race. . . And in no way is that a bad thing.

It seems like when these 250 guys move up for part time, they seem to hole shot very easy. Barcia and Seeley seemed to pull shots readily once they moved up. Dungey's ran with Stewart on his first 450 SX race. When starts are half the battle like they are this year, it's not improbable that Tomac takes more than just one win.

Double edged sword there, Roczen could lose some ground to Eli if all goes well. If Roczen races he risks getting hurt, he only has to finish on the box the last 3 races although that's not the way to win a championship and I doubt anyone at KTM wants that. But the bank will cash the check of a guy with 3 seconds with the same bills as a guy with 3 firsts.

I hear that, Eli has the same risks though and KR has a little more experience in big class SX, both are class acts and both have a lot to lose if it goes belly up, they are racers though and I seriously doubt either want to hit the practice track for the next 8 weeks while the other is out racing and staying sharp.

I expect 94 to enter the sx class in 2 weeks and run 3 or 4 events maximum.

Roczen could also get hurt at the practice track... I'm pretty sure the majority of injuries happen in practice... so if not getting hurt is your only reason not to go racing then you should not ride a bike at all during that break.

LOVE IT!

As JJ0741 said, the 450s just got even more stacked! And this is one of the first times in recent memory where ALL of the top contenders are leaving Cali in good, or at least passable, health! Daytona is going to be insane.

By my count there will be 8 guys who can win in the East. That means a top 10 is going be difficult, and starts will be that much more important.

This is going to be a really good season!

Hey Swap, are you gonna be there on Tuesday to get some video of him testing the 450??

Huge fan of Eli. Demeanor, attitude, work ethic, personality...great dude. The only thing not swinging his way is the lack of time on a 450, but we've already seen what he can do on one. He obviously has it in his head that the 450 is where he wants to be anyway. Podium material.
