I liked KW joke about how he came up with the idea of transfers in the introduction ceremony. He said when he plays and hits a golf ball he transfers alot of golf balls from one hole to another hole on the other side of the course.

People don't seem to realize that there are two roles up there in the booth. Ralph's role is color commentator. He doesn't need to be the all-knowing expert, because they have Emig for that. Ralph is actually decent at what he does. It's the same as Pat Summeral and John MAdden back in the day in the NFL. Summeral would call the game, Madden would insert his "knowledge".

You kids seem to think that you can just stick 2-3 of your favorite racers in the booth and it makes for the best broadcasting team, but you really don't have a fucking clue. Notice that Emig really doesn't call the race.

That being said, Todd Harris was a little better than Ralph, but he had motormouth Denny Stephenson in the booth with him speaking a million miles an hour. Emig does a pretty good job. I think Harris and Emig would be good.

RC is very unpolished, but I think his ability lies in his power of prediction. He is able to call a pass two turns in advance, and he is rarely ever wrong. If they could just get a leash on him, he knows his shit.

I watched the race right when I got home last night and I thought Ralph, Emig and KDub were really good. RC making fun of Emig gets old pretty quick IMO.

I found Kevin had unique insights because he is fresh off the series and for not much color commentary experience he did a hell of a job. I did a bunch of Hockey and basketball radio announcing a few years ago and it's way more difficult then these guys make it look. Trust me.

I may be in the minority on this board, but I think Ralph does a pretty good job most of the time.
You guys should listen to Journey (the post above).

Kinda seemed like K dub had a hard time getting a word in, with the rare instance when the others were very briefly speechless. Yes, I realize this was the first time through with K dub, and it takes time to get in the groove. Just seemed like when RC (initially) and Reedy were on there, they gave those two more of a chance to speak and make observations. K dub got interrupted by Ralph and Fro a couple times. Could be hard to get air time with 4 guys bench racing (Ralph, Fro, Fowler, and K dub, and the occasional Erin Bates track side). I also realize these guys are used to talking as much as possible to prevent dead air. -not bashing anyone- just an observation/opinion.

You'll be hard pressed to ever hear me criticize Kevin Windham, the man is my hero; just sayin. #14

Disagree with you on Harris - I didn't think he was a good fit, but the rest of your points are spot on.

Windham is articulate, and while that's rare for a rider, you need more than that as an announcer. I would like to see him be more animated. Too early to judge.

Carmichael is surprisingly adept. He's not the most polished but he actually focuses on the action, and as you said, can call a pass or describe what one guy is doing differently from the next.

Emig has a great voice for TV, his stuttering aside. I like his enthusiasm but I feel he talks way too much about intangible things like "mindset" and not enough about what is shown in front of him. A lot of this stems from him being forced to answer Ralph's terrible questions, right in the middle of the action.

If you could combine all three of them you'd have one amazing color guy. I hate when people throw out names also, but I'm going to do it anyway. Jeremy McGrath. He's done some announcing also and I've always thought he was fantastic.

How about get rid of Ralph no matter what and let Ricky Fowler on the show whenever he is available, I thought he did alright too. Cool
Fowler was better than all of them, RC included.

I said this before I thought Kevin was too monotone. And sometimes long winded when he was making a point. He talked right thru a couple big crashes and passes that RC and Emig woulda stopped and focused on.

He does have good insite but not really very exciting.

Yep, sure did. Blow me.

IMHO, you are the biggest douchebag on this forum and nobody gives a damn about your opinion anyway. I've been around since before Freshdirt, and I can't believe people have tolerated you for so long.

I think they all do a good job, I really don't mind if Ralph gets riders confused sometimes or gets minor details wrong. Its enjoyable to listen to and enjoyable to watch.

I never really saw the whole broadcast until I landed in Canada and it is available on TV at a reasonable time, unlike in Europe where its all live streams at 3am then you get a dodgy video on YouTube. I really, really don't get what you lot are constantly complaining about.

I think kdub did just fine. I actually couldn't hear any ofem that good the whole night.
Back when I was growing up, I liked Davjd bailey on Speed World.

Kdub was ok. I'm guessing he is getting paid for the transfers and with him in the booth Feld gets his monies worth? When RC made the comment at A2(?) seconding guessing Roger about the air shock and it wasn't the time to be trying new things etc. I'm guessing that pissed off Roger? We all know Roger isn't the person you want to piss off. Now, he is promoting Arena Cross looking for FRESH Meat for the industry. New kids, new bones, no serious injuries and would love a chance for less $$'s. Looking for a rider to replace Broc, Priceless!
