I swear if I hear the line how someone has "fought against adversity", "he did/rode good" or how "someone has just upped the intensity from last week" one more time I'm gonna throw my laptop out the window when I'm next watching the supercross (along with about 15 other phrases used every week)

And seriously some of the questions they ask on the podium are just dumb. I often turn it off at the the checkers and go on to Supercross Live on YouTube with Jim Holley, he isn't scared to ask the questions everyone wants to hear (and he also has this amazing ability to ask MORE THAN ONE question...)

"These guys are FIRED up, ok"
Fro - first lap, every race.

The girl who did the podium interviews for the outdoors last year was really good, she had interesting questions and the riders responded well to it by giving decent answers for a change. Bates is ok to look at, but she doesn´t do a very good job of interviewing.

This is how it is´s done IMO:

Art Eckman is still by far the best commentator I can remember. Bailey and Coombs were good also, you got a sense they all knew what they were talking about and got their points across clearly. And plus, Eckman had a kick ass voice!!

Take us through what it means to battle back through adversity and intensity.

I disagree, I think it's very interesting to hear the response to "take us through", "how do you feel". We get a great variety of people express what they feel after winning a race, which is really a chocker to see their responses. I have really wondered for many years if people get happy by this kind of success or not, but now after about 10-15 years of watching this, I see a clear pattern, they all seems to be happy by winning? Still the question is kept being asked, as is there's another emotion waiting to emerge? They on to something here?

I also dig how the riders every third time manages to mention super pumped, or how that monkey fell of their back, to be honest I got a bit bored after hearing it for some years now, but now we got a new version with german accent. How about that!!!

If people missed my sarcasm, well it's sarcasm...

Overall I feel that the race commentary/podium interviews are deplorable. How I feel after listening to Ralph's blubbering, repetitive banter for the duration of the broadcast.

To be fair, pretty much all sportscasters are guilty of spouting the same cliches over and over again.

This season I have just been recording the races and fast forwarding through all the bullshit. I also turn the volume down to a level where I can only faintly hear the bikes and nothing else. It doesn't change the fact that the sport is being represented in an embarrassing light, but I've basically just accepted that it will always be marketed to the lowest common denominator.

Did anyone else notice this little gem from Shaheen during the 250 main?

"As you can see Ricky, Martin is catching up to Davalos"

He drops it at the 8:13 mark:

The times you get the most original commentating is when one of the riders do something extra ordinary that catches the commentators off guard. I'm not saying they are grammatically correct when they commentate on it but it knocks them off their cliche game. Maybe it's the rider's fault that we have cliche commentating. . .

I'm over Shaheen. Emig, I don't know if I necessarily like him or if I respect the fact that he fought adversity and expanded his vocab to include more than just "ya know, ya know, and ya know". Back in his day, who would of ever guessed he'd be talking on tv?

if you throw your laptop out the window does that mean we will no longer get such internet gold like your post here ?

When these guys were professional riders, a trainer, riding coach, nutritionist and other support personnel were utilized. But now that they aren't racing anymore, they just wing it as announcers? Do their bosses care that they come off as uneducated and home schooled? Where is the pride?

I heard that...I just sat there shaking my head. Everyone makes mistakes, but these guys are making way to many. I wish there was an option to mute the commentators. I miss Art Eckman and David Bailey they got me amped up!
