That was a crazy short video for sure.

I think Reed heard a bike coming up fast on his left , started to try and block that lane ( or maybe he just drifted ) and didn't realize how close him and "Davi" were......he panicked a little and veered right.........Right into Grant after he started "hucka-Buckin'.

I think you guys should cut Ellie some slack here. Her man Reed has had issues with James for years on the track......a lot on the track which we never see or hear about. It's not like it "hasn't happened before".........right? She was upset for her husband ( like any wife would be ). Sure.....she jumped the gun I think.........but hell , can you friggin' blame her?

Christ ol' mighty........it's racing and shit happens. Reed messed up and took out a few riders. How many riders has James taken out in just this past 2 - 3yrs? 20+?

Just thankful everyone got out of that in one piece.

That picture explains hardly anything. When you're going mach 5 into a corner after a set of whoops only inches away from each other?.......it makes it to be a completely different perspective.

Also....Davi didn't hit Chad's rear wheel.....watch it in slow motion. Chad's rear wheel damn near rode right up the back of Davi's rear wheel the split second he pulled in front of Reed.

It's some hairy shit....and about 1' closer........Reed would of been doing cart wheels down the track if those two rear wheels would of hooked up.

I think he saw a nice place to stop and take a nap and the Dunge helped him get there.

Pretty good angle on what went down in the first turn as well. If Grant doesn't go straight into Reed. This thread doesn't even exist.

Firstly let me say, from JS Go-pro it doesn't appear as if Chad and James ever touch. Can't be 100% sure but it appears I was wrong there.

Now for the real question everyone should be asking............. WTF happened with Reed. Did he just come off that first whoop funny? Was he changing lines/cutting across the whoops intentionally? He was a good 2 bike lengths behind the bike in front so there was no need to change your line. Not in the first set of whoops on the first lap immediately after the start with bikes everywhere. Was it just a brain-fart on Reeds part? That is how it appears.

Feel bad for everyone involved but especially for JS7. Already has a tweaked knee, trying to gut it out and gets caught up in this shit.

LoL, don't let the direction of travel of the bikes in that shot cloud your vision, jeffro, unless you are choosing not to see the 33...

Looks to me like Millsaps and Reed were both trying to take the line in front of Stewart, with Reed cutting across at a sharper angle. Millsaps rear end kicked out a bit and hit Reed's frame; that combined with Reed trying to pull away from Millsaps sent Reed rocketing off to the right into Grant.

That Short video confirms it was just a racing deal. Shit load of guys bunched up in whoops, one gets out of shape and it all snowballed. Looked like Grants front tire was hooked and he couldn't turn?

No way, I read in this thread that Reed was making the turn and Grant went strait and cleaned him out. There's no way possible Reed swerved in front of Grant and made contact with him before they got out of the whoops. You should re read this thread...

If 7 wants to be upset about something, maybe he should be upset about the fact that when he got to the first turn there were roughly ten guys ahead of him. Whose fault was that? Funny how the better start you get, generally speaking, the less "problems" you encounter. But then again, if he would have avoided the carnage by being in front of it we wouldn't be having this "discussion" would we?

Geez dude, let it go.

It was a racing incident.

The twits, tweets, or twats or whatever saying it was his fault were pure speculation and proven wrong by photos, the video, and the Go-Pro video.
To use your own phrase "now let me get this straight"...you're busting my chops for offering a different view point on this incident? Dude, you've got three posts up to this point in this thread and I state one fact (yes, I stopped the video when 7 was entering the first turn and I counted a guy in front of him for each finger on both my hands) and based on that fact offer a different perspective than what everybody is raving about and you're telling me to let it go? Yes, it was just a racing incident. That's kinda what I was trying to imply. I'm not a 7 hater or a 22 fanboy. In fact, I don't have a dog in this fight anymore since KDUB retired. I would have made the same comment if the roles would have been reversed in this situation for the 7 and 22. Sorry if I said something about your rider that you didn't like. Crap like this is the reason I lurk a lot more than I post.

Just an unfortunate series of events. Both Reed and Millsaps move over to get into the main line, Reed has to bounce back to the right side of the whoops because Davi has the line. Reed bounces in front of Grant who has no where to go but into Reed and then they both go into everyone else in the turn. That's racing. I definitely feel for Stewy, the last thing I would ever want to do with a torn ACL is have to put that leg out to brace a fall Pinch

Under shark bites Reed says he thought Stewart took him out.

Here's what happened:

1) A bunch of new fans have come to the sport and have no idea how hard it is to ride a bike at that speed, through that terrain, with 19 other guys on bikes trying to do the same thing. Expectations for the riders being able to always control everything at those kinds of speeds have become unrealistic.

2) It was probably not a great idea to put such a long whoop section immediately out of the first turn.

3) Twitter is a disaster for some people who's fingers move before their brains have engaged.

3a) RV is too fast. (forcing other riders to press too hard and make mistakes)

4) Forums like this seem to have created a very polarized environment where people don't cheer for all the riders, they seem to absolutely love and defend their favorite rider and completely loath and hate every other rider out there.

5) Quite a few people who post here don't seem to have the first clue about supercross and/or motocross racing.

6) The internet allows people to be douche bags.

7) The rebound clicker on Chad's shock was set incorrectly, so his bike setup was not balanced through that whoop section.

(that last one was a joke, everyone knows it was because of tire pressure. Wink

The Short GoPro should put this all to rest. CR lost his line (all on his own) came close to DM veered right almost forcing Grant into the tuff blocks, Grant tries to save himself and as someone mentioned could not turn in the 2 mSec he had before the major pileup. Racing incident, of course it's a racing incident the MF'ers are racing. Reed nor Grant intentionally did anything but try to get through the dumbass design whoops in a pack of 20 whicked riders. Sure, Reed lost control first, but given that track design it could have been anyone.

Hey jason, agree with you partly, not so sure about your Grant analysis though. Take the time to stop Shorts Gopro at exactly 0:16 (16 seconds), Barcia has no where to go so he tries a one-footer whip, Grant is stuck straight on Reed's bike, he can't turn or he would have gone down faster then one of Peelouts girlfriends. Check it out, I think it says it all.

God I cant wait for Saturday to come. it is sad that people dont realize that this isnt anyone fault. you have 20 guys going straight into whoops right after the start and easily 7 of those guys can win, so everyone is going balls to the wall to get the start. we should just be thankful that no one got seriously injury and that next weekend all of the title contenders will be at the race.

Looked like DM18 was moving to the right and CR22 was going to close the door on the rider behind him (JS7). Went Reed went over he almost tagged DM18 and went back to his right and lost control. Imagine had he and DM18 came togther in the whoops.... that would had been ugly.

I do not think this was best start design.

Terry.....I see that and can explain it 100%. About a 1/4 second before that shot was taken.....Reed and Grant were locked bar to bar. Reed broke loose while Grant started to get on the brakes. Reed already started to go down and Grant hadn't even had a chance to think about starting to turn......and just went strait.

I have heard people in numerous threads say it was "Grant's" fault.....?? What? He was off to the right minding his own business when Reed came out of no where and broadsided him. If you were in Grant's shoes......what happens when that type of thing happens? You both lock bars....and go strait. Which is exactly what Grant is doing in that picture.....right before he center punched Reed....who then got pushed right in front of Stewart.

Watch everything from the go-pro to the TV broad cast and you'll see i'm right if you watch it in slo-mo. I personally watched these things like 10 times.....because I was really curious to see what happened.
