Aftermarket Footpegs

Edited Date/Time 10/9/2022 3:20pm
Basically we've been building up a cr250 rolling chassis with a cr250 engine and the seemingly endless pile of Honda spares in my dads garage that he has ended up with over the years. One of the few things we dont have however are footpegs, the only spare ones in the garage are shagged so the only option is to buy a new set. The Honda footpegs like all Honda parts are rediculously expensive so if I'm going to be laying down that kind of money I might aswell get some aftermarket ones.

So this is where you come in. I want to know what aftermarket pegs you have and how you rate them. I quite like the look of the Talon ones but I dont know much about any of the other pegs that are available out there. The titanium Raptor pegs look absolutely mega but I'm not sure if I can justify spending that much money. I wear size 12 Tech8s.

I have P.C. ti pegs on all my bikes...they work ok but if i hadnt got them for dirt cheap i would have got something else..they are not sharp at all, the kind with the threaded posts for teeth seem like a better idea...but i guess if you cant afford to replace soles every month then you have to sacrifice some performance..

The new, wide OEM '12-13 CRF pegs are a direct bolt-on for the '02-up CR's. They are nice and cheap at $50 a set through powersportsplus.com.

Yeh the Talon ones have the adjustable screws. You make an interesting point about the soles though, that hadnt even crossed my mind. The Tech 8s are generally pretty good for sole wear though, certainly a lot better than the tech 10s from what I've seen.

ProTaper makes some pretty cool footpegs with different height platforms that are replaceable.

Works Connection makes some Ti pegs that are more similar to stock pegs but are super light.

But they are sharp. I dont like running super sharp pegs just becuase they tear your boots up. But some people dont mind that.

ProTaper pegs are really really nice, I replaced the stock ones on my cousins 2002 yz125 with them.

For the budget minded, MSR actually has some nice pegs that I am running on my practice bike for about 20 hours now.

Another thumbs up here for Pro-Tapers. I'm short and really like changing the heights. Best bang for your buck in my opinion. Raptors are awesome, but pricey.

Check out Raptor Ti pegs. They are handmade works of art & many teams are using them this year. They are on Dungey's KTM & Millsap's Suzuki. I had them on my RM & now have them on my KTM. They are light & they are trick looking.

Another for me... Being almost 6'7" I need the room, and they're super wide pegs too, very comfy, good grip!

I'll add another vote for the Works Connection ti pegs. Especially for the Honda's. Oversize ti peg with great grip.

I put Raptors on my bike and spent nowhere near $350. I got them for $236, which is still ridiculous, but just about every other Ti peg set out there is 200.....

Lightspeed Ti pegs are ultra wide, light and trick

Little surprised no one has mentioned the Ankle Saver Foot Peg.

Our team has been using Torc 1 pegs for a couple years now with really good results..They are strong, replaceable cleats, wide and they retail for $100.00..www.torc1racing.com

$350, overkill for anyone but a 2 digit guy.
these pegs have been available for years for way less then that. I've paid as little as $200 for them in the past. I just picked up a set of the Enduro model for exactly $250 delivered not 2 weekks ago. KTMTwins.com

I use Raptors exclusively for racing, only because they are so hard on your boots. But, these are the toughest, longest lasting, grippiest pegs you can get. period. I've used almost every aftermarket peg to come down the pipe in the last 20 years and I am a huge ergonomics guy. The feel of my bars/levers/pegs/seat is to almost obsessive levels and always has been- i've tried every bar bend, every lever brand, seat foam/covers, and a plethora of top triple clamps in my quest for perfect ergonomics. I like the Raptors better than everything else, especially all the other Ti. pegs out there. With that said, I wouldn't really recommend this peg to the average guy because of the price and the damage they can do to a boot sole. I suppose you could dull the teeth, and they do eventually wear down. so...

For practice and general riding I have been using Fastway Evo pegs ever since the day they were available. This is really the only peg I can recommend. I have had at least 10 pairs of them over the last 10-11-hell I don't know how many years. a long time. The highlights include the most adjustability available and great durability. Being able to adjust the amount of grip is nice. You can run the standard cleat for less aggressive riding or training to save your boot soles, and then throw in some F6 cleats for a huge increase in traction for muddy conditions or racing. Also, this peg has perceivably infinite lifespan, excluding damage of course..

The IMS pegs might be another option. For me they don't really compare to Fastways', but they are certainly proven. I have no real reference, but I would say IMS pegs have probably won more off-road races than any other peg out there.

One thing I can guarantee: Aluminum pegs will fatigue and crack over time. How long that is I can't say, but I would never recommend aluminum pegs. I'm sure they are great pegs in regards to them being pegs, but I don't think you can trust their longevity in relation to safety.

Fastways are the bomb! So adjustable, not a lot of fluff, but they are durable and work great!

I'll throw in an endorsement of Pivot Pegz. A little hard to find but worth it. They are spring-loaded to rock a few degrees back and forth (you don't notice it when riding) and it makes missing shifts nearly impossible. Very durable as I moved my first set through 3 different CRs and CRFs over 8 years and still use them. Nice and wide and can be sharpened as much as you like.

Definitely helps to keep you from missing shifts.

2013 CRF pegs on my 2007 CR250. Only $24 each. Better than the Lightspeed pegs on my other CR. Better than the Sunlines on my '08 CRF.

I've used a lot of different pegs. I've tried several different IMS pegs and broke them all. I switched to Pro Moto Billet pegs from Fastway and love them. Able to adjust the height and angle of the peg. Also able to change out the cleats to different designs and to get fresh, sharp pegs. Now I'm using Pivot Pegs and really like them. I had tried them when they first came out but didn't like them as the moved too easily. They went through several different updates and I installed them on a customers bike at an offroad race at Blue Mountain Ski Resort in PA last year. I rode the bike back to the customers pit area and was very impressed. Funny thing is that customer actually bought me a set for Christmas. They are EASY to find as any WPS/Fly Racing dealer can get them. They don't move that much but I find it helps me with my braking. I've always had a hard time getting my foot into a good spot to control braking and be comfortable. With these I just lean my foot forward and I'm on the brake.

I have never had an issue with my Tech 8s. They wear just fine.

But I also don't have super sharp pegs. No need for it IMO.

I run some stock Yamaha Ti pegs and sharpen them maybe once a year and don't have any issues with my boots, grip or wear.

I use stock YZ250 pegs on my CRF150rb, If they wear down ill take out a Dremel and sharpen em up by grinding a little.

Ever have a set of raptors crack like this? Both pegs in the same spot. Maybe 80hours on them total
