I hate to see the chances of so many hurt by one rider's crash.
How about a rule that says if there is a pile up of more than 5 riders on the start lap they red flag it and start over?
I am not even sure I like the idea, but it seems such a shame to get tied up in a mess like that and have it ruin the start of your season.

In fact if everyone doesn't leave the gate exactly perfect and complete one full lap cleanly then the race shoudl be started again.
We can't have anyone out there on the track that doesn't have exactly the same opportunity to win as everyone else.
Maybe if one rider gets too far out front he should be black-flagged for making the others feel inadequate?
Mandatory hugs after each race?
If a guy crashes out then every other rider on the gate should have to send him a get well card or be docked positions?

It took out, what? three guys. The carnage was cleared before lap 2 and there was no danger to anyone that wrecked because of the race continuing. Absolutely no reason to red flag it.
To me, the red flag is for a faulty gate or shutting the race down out of concerns for rider safety when a guys stays down.
