I like that Blake Wharton is stepping up and runnng the #13. Saw a video recently and thought it looked cool.. Its been a while since we have seen it on the track. I know Tortelli ran it with very little success, and Heath Voss ran it a while. I think Voss even won his FIM "world sx championship" (??) running the 13...None of my buddies will run it, because its bad luck. I run the 223, because 23 is my favorite number, but i dont consider it "lucky".....i cant think of many who have had good seasons as # 13, Glover ran it back in the day i think. Would you run the 13 if you earned it, or opt out?

Considering my number back in the day was 135, I'd run 13 without any issue.

My thoughts......it's only a number. The first three digits on my cell phone are "666".......I haven't died yet.

Hell no. I won't even put 13 psi in my tires. Call me crazy but I won't tempt fate when hitting a 100ft triple.

Well if that's you on the right in your avatar, may I suggest you consider staying that course. Tire pressure not withstanding.

I am not superstitious at all, so I would run the shit out of the number 13 (if I earned it). I also think it is cool that Wharton has elected to run it.

A few years ago, RacerX did a "number cruncher" article about number 13 that was quite interesting. Check it out:

That's because you're the anti-christ and only the son of God can kill you. So of course you haven't died... yet.

Let me think about 13:

- R Johnson in 1990 and 1991
- Tortelli in 2002 and 2003

Fuck no.... both of those riders had horrible years under #13

ran 13 as the captain of a championship winning basketball team in an under 16 inter school comp.

how can numbers be lucky or unlucky? its just science, maybe your engine cases a 13 cm wide, or a frame bolt, does that

make the bolt unlucky?

fair enough you like or dislike numbers but

I don't know about the whole 13 deal but I say good for Blake. But Swink's last year as a pro, he ran the 13 on Moto XXX and didn't do so hot. We'll just have to see but I hope Blake does good. He's a great guy and he needs a breakout because this is probably the last season he races a 250.

Tyler Medaglia had a pretty successful season with the #13 in the 2008 Canadian Nationals. He won his first MX1 overall and ended-up finishing a solid 3rd behind Facciotti and Klatt in the final standings.

Funny thing about superstitions, they are so illogical. Ever notice most high rise buildings don't have a 13th floor. Well they do, they call it 14. You are not supposed to notice that it is in reality the 13th floor, like it matters. Had someone ask me one day on a job why I don't mind walking under ladders. I told them that ladders don't have any secret powers, and if they did they certainly wouldn't be more powerful than mine!

I was born on December 13, and it just so happened to be a Friday. so, I have always thought of Friday the 13th as a good day. but you are right, superstitions are totally illogical, but almost everybody has some. the brain is a powerful thing... if you make yourself believe it makes a difference, its gonna make a difference. iI guess Blake had decided running the 13 won't matter to him

True, true, if one believes it, they are making it real but they never notice who is making it real. You are the rare example that notices. Well done.

Everyone does something that is illogical in one sense or the other.

I walk under ladders almost every day. Guess that explains my 30 year run of bad luck huh? I have no problem with superstitions. I think they are all stupid and I'd also run #13 without any problem......knock on wood.

In 1999, my childhood idol Josh Coppins had a breakout year while running the number 13. Despite riding one of the ugliest motocross bikes ever assembled, he elevated his ranking from 13th to 7th in the 250cc GP's. Although a privateer, he beat both of Suzuki's factory riders (Brian Jorgensen and Leon Giesbers) and earned his first factory ride for the following year.

Pfft... I'd wear the number 13..

BUT, you will never catch me putting on a right boot first.. or shoe, even. If I do, I have to start all over! Blush

Wow, cool pic... I don't remember RJ in Thor gear. I know he was JT then Fox for a long time and back to JT (special Bad Boy stuff followed by the Terminator stuff). When was his time with Thor?
