Well i'll be damn, just googled alpinestar photoshoot and found this.

Ashley Fiolek is in California this week for an Alpinestars photoshoot and she sent us this photo. She isn’t releasing any more details, but we will keep you posted with the full story.

I think McGrath was mutual and it was over the aluminum frame debacle. I wish Al Gore would have invented the internet sooner, because that would have been amazing drama.

Actually it was over McGrath being on the cover of a jet ski mag on a Yamaha Waveblaster.

Honda didn't dump any of those guys. Decoster left to Suzuki while still emplyed. McGrath didn't like his new contract. Carmichael left because Decoster offered him way more money.

Omara, yes and no. Honda offered him a deal after the MXoNs, but he already signed with Suzuki because Honda showed no intrest to that point.

They didn't get rid of him because of that, but it did cause them to write a bunch of restrictions in his contract at the last minute that he didn't like.

MC left because of multiple reasons. The main one as stated by MC in his book was that honda was being wishy washy. He would be told one thing by japan and another by honda usa. Them trying to write restrictions into his contract miffed him but they never actually made it into a signed deal, it was on a first contract sent over to look at. The new 97 honda, and this has been stated by rich taylor and mc, was good in testing form. the production bike wasnt even remotely close to the test bike. lastly, he was strung along until november by honda. they would say ok, we will take this out, but we will add this, ok, we will take that out, but lets put this in. MC said he just wanted the same contract he had with win bonuses on pare with what everyone else was getting.... they had mc for cheap at the time! basically what honda was doing was delaying things to string them along until mc didnt have any options so they could get him on the cheap. it was a stall tactic.

finally mid november hit, and mc said enough. he rode a yamaha and a suzuki, loved the suz handling, hated its motor. talked to mitch and rogerd, put together a deal real fast with honda of troy becaue they were a suz dealer also, so suz of troy was born. This is literally why the next year hon of troy became yam of troy... honda was very pissed.

That's the way I understood it too.... Except the Suzuki handling, he was changing allot of things around with the forks trying to stiffen up the chassis if I remember right.
