Alot of people around the country have been to this place, its a pretty cool setup. Supposedly through "rumors" that Exxon is buying the land for there company, one of Exxons offices is around the corner. Would be a bummer to lose another track or facility to something like that. So if anybody has the chance to get down there soon, it would be the time to do it. It might not be there too much longer.

I heard the same thing a couple of months ago from what I consider to be a very reliable source. I also heard that as of last week end, there are a lot of survey stakes around the property....

My wife works for ExxonMobil and the plan is to move ALL their operations to the Woodlands area.

I wasnt aware of the rumor of them buying land in that area specifically, but it wouldnt surprise me if they are doing long-term planning with that. They have offices all over Houston and want to consolidate.

And, yes, 3P is a great facility.

That's really ashame but I had heard thru the grapevine that this was coming soon.

Hopefully the owner will start up another facility in the Conroe area.

If he gets bought out and builds a new track a few miles away (where there are actually hills) it would be fine with me....

All I will tell you is this: ExxonMobil IS consolidating the I-10, Brookhollow, and other locations, building a mega complex in the Woodlands area and there is gonna be a big influx of employees who will be wanting housing in that area. I doubt ExxonMobil are speculating in the housing biz, but Im sure there are developers who will be wanting to cash in on this captive group of consumers and sell them housing and goods/services. And Id guess these guys are looking real close at locations along I-45 to meet this new demand.

I hope that 3P will stay available to us riders, but right now the Oil & Gas bunch have really deep pockets.

I would think the ground that 3 palms sits on would have very limited options as to what else it could be. It seems prone to flooding and being wetlands in many areas.

I to love the place so would hate to see it go by the wayside but I am sure for big bucks Emil would be dumb not to sell.

Well they might want to contact MXsports since they are suppose to have a qualifier March 2 or 3rd. Also track cant go anywhere if the owner doesn't want to sell.

Just spotted 3 Palms on Google maps. It looks to be a lot further North than where Exxon is building their "campus". It is down near Spring from what I am told. Hope that is right. Given the amount of building in the area, there is little doubt 3 Palms will get swallowed up on of these days as the Woodlands and Conroe become one metro area. Sad but true.... Riding areas are disappearing.

3P is right next to the San Jacinto river, which obviously floods. Developing that land would take a ton of dough so I'd assume it will remain a mx park for the foreseeable future.

I can't imagine anyone building anything paw permanent on that property. It floods every couple of years. In the old days, ther was another track directly across the river, and we used to look forward to floods because it would lay down a whole new layer of dirt.

I know the section. It had a sign that said "killer whoops". During that Texas Series race, I was running 3rd and on the last lap Carroll Richardson passed me in those whoops. I was bummed that I was losing my top 3 position until I noticed that Carroll wasn't slowing down for the corner and instead he went cart wheeling, end over end, off the track at mach 5.

A real good friend of mine passed me in those whoops one time, got into a big swap and plastered himself into a tree directly with his body. It was brutal. When he was in the hospital, I told him he looked like Wiley Coyote when he smacks a rock and slowly slides down to the ground. I'm not sure he thought it was all that funny at the time.
