The puffing of the weed will be out in the open, whilst the beer drinkers shall still be caged, which i find quite humorous.

I imagine, at the very least, they'll have a sign on the Pro Pits : " Yo, NO puffing weed or two-strokes in the pro pits."

That is hilarious. Mostly because that is way it should be, but more so because the alcoholics actually get put in a cage while the tokers get to walk around freely and enjoy the scenery. Who would have thought? Silly

I know things are a lot different at Washougal than they were in the '80s and '90s. I guess at least if folks are pie eyed there is no chance of riots in the campgrounds like there was back then. LOL. I remember being able to bring coolers with "plenty" of beer in on race day as long as it wasn't glass. A few idiots go a long ways.. Shame.

I am from outside of Seattle and voted in favor of legalization as well. I agree it is safer than alcohol. When was the last time you heard of two guys stoned fighting? heh!

Maybe the Huffman's should think about opening an onsite "cafe", Amsterdam-style! I'd much rather drop in there for a toke than hang out in a beer cage/tent...

Is the venue going to take on new names? If so what? Weedshougal ? Greeeeeen buuuuuud! ? Run by the Puffmans? Leeches lump going to be called leeches nugget? I sure know that Carolynn Huffman could use a hit or ten to calm her aggro self down. Is there going to be a 40 yard dumpster next to the alcohol one for weed? Will they fence in dutch coffee shops next to the beer gardens for the tokers?

Well, not to be a buzzkill but smoking weed in public is still illegal up here......

The law we (rightfully in my opinion even though I don't partake) passed was personal use in the privacy of your home, more or less. So the race spectators should still be dominated by drunks, except the campers who smoke early and then walk in....

If I can shed any positive insight to all of the gay marriages going on now in WA, every single one of the joyous gay marriages happening will also share the same equal financial and legal ramifications of divorce the rest of us straight folks have to deal with. Sometimes the grass isn't always greener.

Just wait and see how many new people move here.

what a novel idea, make it legal, tax it and put the mafia types out of business. LOL

Exactly.....the feds are stupid for not legalizing it. It opens up a huge amount of cash.

From USA Today earlier this week. The last two paragraphs are hilarious...

Though Washington's law prohibits smoking in public, about 200 gathered under the Space Needle for a New Year's Eve-style countdown to 12 a.m. Thursday. A few dozen gathered on a sidewalk outside the north Seattle headquarters of the annual Hempfest celebration and did the same, offering joints to reporters.

"I feel like a kid in a candy store!" shouted Hempfest volunteer Darby Hageman. "It's all becoming real now!"

The Seattle Police Department emailed its 1,300 officers, telling them not to write any citations for smoking pot in public until further notice. A voter initiative passed in 2003 made marijuana enforcement the department's lowest priority, and for years officers have looked the other way while thousands light up at Hempfest.

Officers will nevertheless advise people not to smoke in public, police spokesman Jonah Spangenthal-Lee wrote on the SPD Blotter. "The police department believes that, under state law, you may responsibly get baked, order some pizzas and enjoy a 'Lord of the Rings' marathon in the privacy of your own home, if you want to."

He offered a catchy new directive referring to the film "The Big Lebowski," popular with many marijuana fans: "The Dude abides, and says 'take it inside!'"

Passing the pot thing was a good idea up here. I know a LOT of people who smoke....and honestly it doesn't bother me one bit. I've smoked my fair share when I was younger......but just never got hooked. I always felt dumb enough.....I didn't need any more help. I will say....I got some racing buddies that when they "partake ".........they are a hell of a lot faster AND smoother on the track! I know "non-smokers" will disagree with that........but I have personally experienced it for about 25yrs of racing with them. If they didn't have any weed I could run with them.......if they were baked.......they would just yard me! used to piss me off so bad! Oh yeah........and they never friggin' wrecked! Not kidding!

personally i dont care but people are misjudging this thing bigtime. i know a bunch of differnet guys in law enforecement and they all said the same thing. you better do it in your home because its really isnt legal yet. and if your seen doing it publicly your just giving them an open invitation to visit you and draw attention to yourself. they have a test in place too and if they suspect your stoned driving youll be taking a trip to the hospital to draw blood and they can determine where your toxicity level is. and workplaces are still enforcing drugtests just the same also. nothings really changing and its just really a joke. plus there are tons of problems with the court system on this too.lets just say from what i heard you would want to be a state judge and rule something wrong because you yourself could end up in trouble with the feds
