Seeing the state of the Industry makes me sick to my stomach; even irate!

That show just showed how fickle the whole motocross industry/community is!
And yea, I feel for grant! What kind of parent would do that to their kid? Man, I think I'm gonna steer my 3 yr old in another direction!
This is just like any other sport, the promoters line their pockets on the backs of these riders! It suxs that as rich as these promoters are getting they can't give back just a little to these guys!

Man eye opening for sure. I have nothing but respect for what these guys give up and put up with for our entertainment.

BINGO!!!

I can't stay away from riding; what I;ve told my son is to concentrate on a business within the Industry so you don't have to be kicked around like a piece of trash! After tonights show, he was so upset; he was crying. He said " he doesn't think he can do it!"; I said, well what have I been telling you, YOU CANNOT pretend that you're going to be the next Dungey or whoever.

Realistically, who wants a career with SUCH LITTLE appreciation from the Industry! God damn it makes me sick!!!

I'm wondering the same thing. I can't wait to watch it, but can't find it anywhere. I'd be happy with a crappy recording of it.

I wonder if the powers that be knew that thats the direction the show was going this year? Kudos to the producers of inside the outdoors for bringing this to light. I would think there are some powers that be that are not to happy with this. It just shows the ugly side of our sport and it all begins and ends with greed!

It's time for the riders to strike!! The top guys need to stand ground against the Industry, just becasue you're lucky enough to be one of the five doesn't mean you should look the other way!

All of the other sports do it with results BUT motocross and SX are the ONLY ones that TRULY NEED IT!!

I knew one day this was going to come out, and some of the people have clue of what the riders have to go through. So what do you think of a riders union now?

Wow, what a great episode!! I'm glad they chose to show the sport from this perspective. Kinda reminds me of my roadracing career.

Can't wait to hear what kind of numbers ($) some of the families have spent in the coming episodes. If they made it to the pro level, I'm expecting to see numbers exceeding $300,000.

I'm glad someone finally said it...........it's sad.....but the truth, I've worked with some really good amateur kids.....and I can't wait for the next episode.....it should really shed some light on how crazy it's become! When I raced amateur races the difference between my mod bike and stock bike was an exhaust......now these kids have kit suspension and 10,000 dollar engines, and with the four strokes.........it's insane! I feel for any kid who is trying to make it with even one card stacked against him.

I liked this episode a lot and I'm looking forward to the upcoming season of this show also. It was really an eye opener of what families have to go through to be pro racers. I knew they had to sacrifice a lot but I didn't know it was this harsh! Even for riders who are pro, even they don't always have a contract that'll make a living.

Very eye opening episode for sure. Very sad to see and hear about what Grant went through as well. Next week with Davi and his mom....ought to be really good!

Damn....I love this sport so much......but completely hate how it throws it's riders into a fiery pit when they are done with them. Very , very brutal sport.....and not just on the body.

I've said it before, and it's time is to say it again.
This sport struggled for decades trying lure corporate money into the mix.
It finally arrived and big moneys result always has an UGLY side to it.

Like they say...be careful for what you wish for!
This is a snap shot of why us old schoolers just LOVE the days of yesteryear.
When more folks were in it for the love of it & were plain purist.

Wouldn't be surprised one bit. I can't remember exactly when or where he said this but I remember him saying once "I've made more money from my investments than from racing."

He has been listed in the top Sports earners in AUS, and was in the top 3, ahead of even F1 driver Mark Webber. I read where he said he made over 9mil one year just in investment, ZERO of it was from SX/MX.

He and his kids, kids are pretty much dialed for life when all is said and done....and for that i give him a huge "Good Onya Mate!!" Cool

Here you go: from HERE

Chad Reed is a supercross and motorcross racing champion with a net worth of $60 million. Chad Reed earned his net worth through his accomplishments in supercross and motorcross racing, as well as his development and help with funding of the Super-X, the new Australian Supercross Championships. He was born in Kurri Kurri, Australia.

i havent seen the episode yet, but I cant agree with you.

this sport needs corporate dollars to invest in a future. kids wont continue to strive for the ultimate goal of professional racing if they can at least make $28k being a security guard at victorias secret (which in some cases would have better benefits...). Theres an enormous chunk of pro riders that wish they made $28k a year.

and its more than just the riders, its the entire industry that needs the support. I can say first hand from being involved for as long as I have that there is very little money coming in to this industry, from the local dealer level all the way toonline communities to magazines. Do you remember the Loco-MX bankruptcy? it was pretty intense, and the dollars they flooded in to publications like rxi and twmx had to have been a major loss.

this sport needs Subway to come back. We need a HOME DEPOT branded team. We need McDonalds to sponsor Freestone or Thunder Valley or wherever. Or we will start to succumb toGlen Helen GP level crowds (remember all the advertising and massive crowds and American riders? neither do I)

The past always pesents a fond memory. Some of my favorites are riding my XR 80 with my dad on country trails. Do I want to go back to that realistically? Hell no, have you ridden a 2010+ bike? Thyre all incredible. Time to move forward.
