I'd like decent tickets. Scratch ticket master because 4 months out the best available is the corner of the building.

All of the other sites I've visited place two decent tickets near a total of $210-250. Base price of $80-$105. Service (you are servicing their ticket cock) costs of $35-45. Delivery charge of $11-20.

I gladly payed this last year when I tried to buy tickets 1 month of the race. Thought I was just paying the stupidity fee. Turns out it may not matter how pro actively you are in purchasing tickets.

Is there a way to find Atlanta tickets that do not require waxing the service pole?

I'm not too keen on paying $250 for just the tickets. Does this cost seem manageable to an average family? I can afford the tickets but the reward to cost ratio is getting out of hand in my opinion.

Thought I would ping the hive mind to tell me if I'm out of use or should just get in line and shut my mouth.

No I haven't tried the dome ticket office. Their online bookings direct to Ticket Master. Thank you for the suggestion for the in house office.

As much as I'd like to find a cheaper alternative I really wanted to have a conversation about ticket purchasing experiences/costs.

Do purchase tickets for any SX?

I always get them through ticket master with a discount code and they're like 21 bucks for section 2xx.

Man, I wouldn't pay that to go see SX. In phoenix one of the local radio stations does a deal every year, tickets are less than 20 bucks after bullshit fees and everything. Decent seats too. SX is fun but hell I would rather DVR it and watch it the next day on TV than fork out over 2 bills.

I follow the whole series for manufacturers; however, when I find tix for others I start w/ the venue's tix office.

Good luck

I refuse to be raped by Ticket Master. In Houston, I always go to Reliant Stadium ticket office. No BS fees and I can choose my exact seats.

In previous years I would go to the Anaheim stadium box office on the first day of SX ticket sales in July. Six months before the event. I was there at 10am when the ticket sales opened to the public. I got some good seats without paying a service charge. But, I was not able to buy the primo seats on the front railing of the club level.
The next year I tried the pre-sale to "Cross Club" members. The seat offerings were worse than before- still no seats in the front row.
I gave up trying because I'm convinced all the best seats go to the series sponsors. Which makes sense because they are spending more than $75 bucks a seat, or whatever the public is paying.

It's horrible. We used ticket master last year for indy and for 2 weeks it gave us the same "best available seat" which sucked ass. Something is fishy about the way ticket sales work now. Bring back the silverdome and general admission.

Scalping is legal in Indiana, so unfortunately 3rd party ticket houses buy all the best seats immediately and then try charging 2-3x face value for them, which is why only the shit seats are left on ticketmaster. The Toronto round isn't as popular and is about the same distance away from Detroit as Indy is, I was able to get much better tickets there in 2010.

I dunno what the fuss is about Ticket Master. I have used them for years when buying tickets to the ATL race and usually get a seat around the 50 yard line on the lower level within the first 20 rows. This year I'm on Row 6, which is actually first row since the first 5 rows are blocked off for safety. Got me and my wife tickets for under $110 shipped to the door. It was $45/ticket plus around $8-$10 in fees per ticket. I don't think $110 for two people on the front row is that bad. Although I do prefer to be around rows 10-15 since it's easier to see the whole track. I refuse to pay 2-4 times the face value for any seat. Screw that.

When did you purchase your tickets? I thought November would be soon enough but there are no tickets below the upper level that aren't in the corner behind the start straight.

I would love to pay $110, but those tickets do not exist for the Atlanta race 4 months before the gate drops.

Is this just because of the popularity of the ATL race?

The local dealers suggestion is another good alternative. I knew it would pay off to throw in a request for suggestions in the middle of my scalper hate.

I ordered in September but usually order earlier. ATL is a very popular race. It has been more and more crowded every year. I have also purchased tickets off the Atlanta Craigslist closer to the race a couple of times with good luck. The least I got them for on Craigslist was $50/ea and the most I paid was like $75/ea. Just check the GA Dome website to make sure they're good seats. The times I bought off Craigslist were when I didn't think I would be able to go, but at the last minute plans changed that allowed me to go. As with anything on Craigslist you just have to be careful. Make sure you buy them from an individual and not one of the many ticket houses on there. You can usually find several people whose friends backed out and they're left with extras. Plus they're negotiable and you usually get pit passes too.

I stopped going to the toronto race because of some bullshit "courtesy fee" that cost almost half the cost of the god damn tickets.

Call suzuki/yamaha of Dalton (GA) for tickets to the Atlanta sx. They always have a bunch

I always have had the same problems when getting tickets for ATL. I usually pay out the ass through the online ticket places (scalpers). But I figure I go once a year and I don't want to sit in the nose bleeds, so I pay it. Last time I went was 2010 and paid $110 a seat 45yd line 8 rows up, which was almost a little to low. I prefer to be in rows 10-20 if possible, it makes it easier to see the other side.

I should have 3 seats for sell real soon for section 210, Row 1 if anyone is interested. It's a great view of the whole track, I can send pictures, we've sat there the past 2 yrs.

Suzuki Yamaha of Dalton will have them, usually the day after Xmas. You can call and get them by Credit Card. Dont know how they would physically get them too you? Maybe they can mail them, I usually call in the morning then pick them up by noon. They usually sell out of the club level tickets within an hour or so.

I've got 3 tickets for sell, section 210 Row 1, you can see the whole track with nothing in your way!! 150.00 for all 3!

I always purchase immediately after they go on sale. If you've been to the stadium before you know where the good seats are, and you can get them at face value if you order within a week or so of them going on sale.

I have never missed a Phoenix race (1986 was the first). And I have made the drive to probably 25 Anaheim and San Diego races in that same time span. Actually went to Anaheim and San Diego in 1982, 1983, and, 1984. Great memories.

But for the current price of the tickets, then add all the bullshit fees, family of 5, food, parking, drama, then racing starts and you cannot hear the announcer or see any live race info on the stadium TV, and I go home wondering WTF just happened? Yeah I saw who was in the top 5 but as for the rest of the race- I go home and watch the DVR to see the race.

Sorry to say, but this year I will probably buy the shit nose bleed promo tix, go with a friend and watch practice, then check out the bikes and girls in the pits, and then go home and watch the race live on TV.
11/21/2012 3:56am
Yeah we tend to go for the experience, not so much to see the race in person... It's hard to tell what's going on even when you can see the whole track!!
