A propper set of whoops will put Chad were he belongs.

I was in San Diego this year with a bunch of aussies from racesocal and I have to say that was the best race ever, my heart was still racing going down the stadium.

It's a cool spectacle with a hell of a nice win bonus. But being consistant for 17 heatraces and 17 mainevent's matters more then winning/doing good at MEC...

I think Chad did what he said. He left with three moto's under his belt and healthy (unlike RV) and now has some Australian SX's to help sharpen up.

I think by A1 he will be ready to contest for wins.

If Chad is to get top 4 this year he will have to not only be consistent, but also work harder on his SX speed than he ever has. Otherwise he will be a top10 guy.

If he keeps his current form I think all these guys will smoke him on a 450:

Barcia
Wilson
Villo
Dungey
Canard
Stewart
Really Wilson?? There is a guy who will be lucky to finish in the top 10. Good chance Reed wins the whole series. By round 5 canard will be out, by round 10 dungey will have had a bike malfunction, by round 13/15 villopoto will be in some form of plaster.

Reedy has always raced for the championship. WIlling to take a 3rd when a 3rd is what he is going to get. One off races are not his thing IMO.

RV, Stewy, Barcia...I think they have ONE THING on their mind, WIN EVERY LAP..sometiems it works out, other times it does not.

Considering that he smoked Dungey and Stewart last year, was all over RV last year, went toe-to-toe with Canard the year before, Wilson is coming off an injury and is new to the 450 class, and he clearly has the speed to run with Barcia - anyone with half a brain knows that Reed will be the same rock solid, title contending Reed as always. I'm not sure why one injury would change that.

Barcia is coming off full time aggressive racing for the last few seasons, he can hold it on the ragged knife edge and scrap with anyone.

Wilson is fast as f*ck, and scared of no one, will soon adjust to the new pace.

Villo will be back and at a whole nother level of speed and endurance.

Dungey is always an adaptable workhorse, he now has a more developed bike.

Canard is coming off injury but is part of the new bread of speed, adaptable, young and fit.

Stewart will be in top form, but going by past experience he might crash and injure himself.

Chad:
-Has the pressures of running a team and family after hours
-Is not in his physical prime as much as his competition
-Is on a new relatively untested bike
-Has less to prove / will keep his ride if he has lackluster performance
-Has the pressures of running a team and family after hours
Actually, he has TOTAL CONTROL OVER HIS PROGRAM; hence, the calm-collected-relaxed Chad you've Always Seen & Heard during the Team 22 era. Also, there's a recent video of him testing the '13...with Tate at his side...Chad looked very relaxed & content. He looks like he's truly enjoying being "Dad".

-Is not in his physical prime as much as his competition
He's HEALTHY & he came out for the MEC knowing it was earlier than he'd planned...showing that he's doing Really Well.

-Is on a new relatively untested bike
As are 14, 17(MEC), 29(?), 41, 51...so...he's in Good Company & he's got Mitch...

-Has less to prove / will keep his ride if he has lackluster performance
Oddly, this is a DBL-Miss: that's HIS Logo on the side of HIS rig, on the shirts of HIS staff, on HIS gear...all the while he's made himself MORE accountable to his fans...whom he's told time & time, again...he's going to do this as long as he believes he can Win; hence, he does have something to prove.
His ride? If he doesn't produce...he could Very Easily lose that Factory Honda.

I think Chad definitely has it in him to be in the hunt for SX. He has supreme skills indoors and I will be suprised if he makes any mistakes early. The big question will be whether he can go the speed he will need to go on a weekly basis come mid season to truly be in the championship hunt if few or none of the other players get hurt/drop out. That is the point where he got bit last year... he was starting to really make a push for the front of the points, was riding at the edge of his envelope and had the "big one". I hope he has a really good season indoors then rides MX and then retires to run his team.

This isn't the first season that Chad had to regroup and come from a deficit to be competitive in the SX series. He has this shit down to a science and will be rock solid at A-1.

This guy is probably a Chad Reed fan, trying to motivate the captain of Team Two Two.(Not that he needs it, but doubting this guy is what gets him off the couch). I will be cheering for the 22 this year.

1st mate, Im not trolling, but definitely encouraging debate (bench racing) and I'm loving the views of the passionate Chad fans.

2nd: I would define his current form as what we saw at the M.E.C, fast bit a tiny bit rusty (dropped in that corner) and good but not stellar intensity vs Barcia who was 100% intensity but just come off a full season racing

As what was already said, there's doubters every year and every year Chad proves them wrong.

It's also funny how all the haters/doubters disappear as soon as Chad starts getting podiums and wins... I particularly remember someone here a year or 2 ago saying he told Chad to his face that he'd never win another race. He stopped posting pretty quickly after that (or changed his name...).

Really? Who can you see being better than Wilson that will force him outside of the top 10?

WOW, there is a whole lot of "stupid" in here. Anyone claiming Reed is done or whatever, put your money up. I'll take odds on 22 all day long. Some have forgot that he went from a PC Honda support ride to the top of the Honda food chain in less than a season.

Exactly.
If Chad is done, where does that leave KW, Tedesco, Brayton, Millsap, Weimer... Overcooked?

Reed
Barcia
Canard

At this point that is the top 5 list...

And I'm willing to bet it looks very different by San Diego.
