After thinking on it, I asked several NYPD friends, frankly, they said that in the larger cities they have bigger things...ie violent crimes.. to be tracking than several teens joy riding on our beloved bikes. So they go with little punishment. Before moving to NYC this made no sense to me. But hearing the stuff these cops deal with regularly, I get it.
A friend of mine, before spending time under government time out and changing his life, used to be a part of the crews that scooped up our bikes and hit up the streets of Brooklyn in race mode. Last week I asked him if they ever got caught, he said they would just ditch the bike but cops rarely chased them. Food for thought..
makes us (those of the few on vital that actually ride) look like a bunch of goons on the street doing wheelies....

I agee he didn't " deserve" to die, but his actions exposed him to that risk.

Maybe we need to get back to the stop or I'll shoot mentality. These criminals are banking on the idea that the are to be given a opportunity to escape. I am saddened by all the bleeding hearts. So as long as you feel you have righted all wrongs good for you.

pharmacist runs forward to lock the door so the flee'er cant come back in.

the DA contention was that the pharmacist deliberatly killed the hit one.

so the moral of the story... get held up at gun point multiple times by criminals, police dont do shit. Protect yourself from criminals and its your fault they were acting like criminals and trying to take your life. if one dies, you are in trouble because its easier to find you, a law abiding citizen, than the criminals plus safer, a law abiding citizen isnt going to shoot you but a criminal very probably might.
You know youre fucked as a society when criminals doing dangerous, life threatning things, get sympathy. They created the entire situation, fully, things bad happen, no time to wait for the police to protect its law abiding citizens, and then the law abiding citizen is to blame. thats how things are now. sad deal.
I clipped the other account because the poster was talking about going all vigilante and running over someone to solve a problem. Of course, that was after going back and reviewing their prior posting history, and noting a lot of hate in other similar threads.
I get that same feeling from a lot of other posts that start with, "This is exactly what's wrong with this country..."

On the other hand, how many people in here have boasted about riding in areas that they're not supposed to, on city streets to/from a riding area and running from the cops? I've seen it more than a few times.
To those that think I'm throwing out the race card, yes, deep down you know what you are saying....we all know. Fair is fair, but there are ROE's and we don't just go blasting up a village just because we have been shot at from a mud hut...that is where we use our training!!
