I know that Herlings and AC were suppose to win in the sand, but to dominate RD, Barcia and BB like they did, has to mess with their heads. That was a beatdown. To see RD not be able to make up ground on the guys in front of him was an eye opener. For some of our guys to get lapped...10 secs a lap slower, 1 minute down, can't move up....that's just hard to believe. Yeah yeah, I love our guys too, but that had to be an eye opener for us and can't be good on their ego.

It was a learning experience. If they had been "beat down" on a hardpack track it would have messed with their heads. Nobody expected (realistically) for Team USA cover today's field.

We pick ourselves up and look forward to next year.

Nah dude. This track is a "one-off" type track. 99% of the other race tracks on this planet aren't anything like that. We have no experience riding that type of stuff....and it showed. But hey....we still took 3rd.

Next year.....it'll be on dirt. Every single MXoN's race from here on out that IS dirt........you would be an idiot to bet against the Americans in that race.

Perhaps it's just giving the rest of the world a false confidence...

Again, I'm not a flag waver but I think it's pretty obvious that things would be much different on any other track.

Yeah, but I don't like the fact that we have to pray another Euro sand track is not picked for a future race....If we are the best, we are the best, but today has to put twist that pit in your stomach the next time a sand track shows up like this.

We lost to Belgium and Germany, not to Italy and the Netherlands. And we lost because of our own mistakes. Did you happen to notice that Barcia, an MXdN rookie, beat every single rider except Herlings and Cairoli?

Perhaps it would be in the best interest for the powers that be to look for a full fledged sand track for the new national? Rumor has it one is getting dropped.

yes I did, but my point was about the individual beatdown experienced by our riders, not the team loss. Yes, Barcia lost bad to two other riders badly, from an individual rider standpoint, especially Barcia's, that sucks. But like I said, I can only see this lighting a fire under each and all of those three for next year somehow.

Not sure why you would think that. (see title) Herlings and Carioli are sand masters, they have been on the same team for two years riding and training together, under the management of the 10x World Champ and Sand King (Everts), and racing at an extreme sand track. With that confluence of perpetration, experience, and location, what else would anyone else expect? It was a dominant performance and great racing.

If the next MXoN was on South Beach their confidence would be shaken.

That's not taking anything away from the winners, some tracks will favor us and some will favor other countries.

There weren't to many idiots betting against The USA at the MXoN this year, most said they may not win a moto but they will still win it overall.

Shit can happen on any track surface, it only takes 2 bad motos & any team can be put out of contention.

USA still got 3rd & they should be proud of that but after 7 straight the expectation is for them to win.

Look....you have to realize something........

If you had 100 race tracks that we all had to race on.....98 were dirt....2 were sand........that's 98% of the time we are going to race on a surface we as Americans are pretty comfortable on.

IT'S NOT that we got beat in their own back yard.....we have won in their back yards plenty of times ( more than anyone actually )......this track was a weakness for us....because we don't have any where like this for our guys to ride. The GP guys have been racing this track for years.

Not taking anything away from the GP guys....they rode great. But this track aint normal by anyone's standards. I'm just glad we got on the box!

Hurt their confidence? Not a chance man........mark my words....next year you'll see some serious ass whoopin'.

You said it well. Why would should they feel bad. I will bet they can beat any of those riders on any other track at any time. I would think it's a learning experience. Ride more sand? As the broadcast said Herlins and Cairoli practice there quite a bit. But both had great day's. Congrats to everyone at the MXoN.

Lakewood and Budds Creek aren't foriegn conditions and neither was France last year to us.

However, sand tracks like lommel, which we don't have and SX tracks (which you could have) are.

I think a deep sand national is a great idea! Ill give ac and herlings props on their sand riding skills, but our guys would give them fits with more time on a sandbar. This track for the des nations is the equivalent to running a des nations on a supercross track here. We were rookies on that sand. Barcia beating everyone but AC and Herlings is actually pretty impressive to me. If he rode with these guys for just 6 weeks..... Anyways congrats to everyone racing. You were all pretty bad ass to race on that track!

You are joking right? One of the reasons these 3 are champs is because they focus. They got beat, learned, and will be ready to rock at their next race.

I agree man it could really shake things up for the nats to run a deep sand track.

I also agree that Barcia rode pretty well, considering the circumstances.

Yeah, the Americans did ok considering the sand thing. But I agree that I don't think most of us thought Herlings and AC would be that much better...? didn't we? It seems most of the comments on here had us doing much better. But the one positive as I think was said, is that this will not happen again because I think maybe we got a little complacent with our succes.

really? so have you compared the dirt between Bud's Creek and any Euro hard dirt circuit? or does traveling not matter to the Euros when they come over here? I'll admit that.....and I have no problem admitting it. AC and Herlings both impressed the hell out of me today! Those guys deserved their wins. And Roczen......I friggin' love that kid and am so happy for him and his team.

I'm actually a lot happier than some others that Germany won........for one , I just dig Germany , and 2....I'm a blonde haired German myself!

Hell I was rooting for Musquin to do well , Anstie and quite a few others that weren't on our team. I'm bummed we lost......but I truely am happy for Germany and Belgium. They kicked everyone's ass today ( not just ours ) plain and simple.

How many events since 1980 (only the races the US attend), have the US won? Over 90%?
