I thought Malin was neutral, it sure seemed that way when Barcia crashed and the crowd cheared.
Malin commented that that chearing was not right and unecessary.

This was just before Team USA cheated.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There was a quote going around at some point from Fro–maybe a podcast... He flat out said he was out-motored and out geared on that track.

I dont think in the years since this was first said, that anything has changed, Osborne will never be a good MX1 rider because of his size AND the way he rides.. when he was on Dixon Yamaha over here , i remember Steve Dixon saying that a set of crankcases only lasted 3 meetings because he revved the bike that hard , and also that he would come back to the pits to get motor mounts and swingarm checked because the bike felt 'soft'

Great rider , had the pleasure of calling some of his races. but Malin was right , if he was good enough to be on one, he would be on one , right?

His size? He has the same sort of physique as Ricky Carmichael and Cooper Webb is probably even smaller.

Remember in 2008 Osborne had a pretty impressive MXdN on a 450.

Malin was specifically talking about Osborne not wanting to move up a class at the time, Zach said as much in interviews back then. How anyone could interpret it as a swipe at Americans is quite frankly beyond belief.

When i saw him in the flesh , he looks smaller than i expected , i just feel (and probably so does he) that the age rule in MX2 forced him back to the US, along with the lure of some $$$, but he is one of those guys that is just awesome on the smaller bike and its what he would always rather be on.


Was trying to remember 2008 Nations , dont recall the trip , until i realised it was Donington, and we went sunday in the AM as its 25 mins away, so didnt see his heat race, but yeah , looked like he went well on it.

That's precisely what happened.
He wasnt going to get a 450 ride that made anywhere near the money he got for going back home.

Its a shame, i thought he embraced europe really well, and loved that he did local races on the Evo stuff for fun.

When you look at the 2008 results, you realise how many riders never made it off a 250 and into the big class.

And how many of those guys are now in the WEC

Except the numbers back my argument up.... vast majority of big bike champs were former tiddler champs... and if you add multiple winners its even more so.

Febvre was EMX 250 champ, think he stole it off Ferrandis at the death as he was injured.

There were guys who made careers out of being a small bike guy , you cant do that now.

I know this is an old thread but the "redneck linking the whole south together" with them gets older than shit really. I think a lot of you guys don't know the difference from regular folks in the south vs rednecks vs PWT (poor white trash). I've been up north and to the Midwest and as far west as Texas and I'll take the south any day. I'll get off my soapbox now.
