Did the other countries ask? For all you and I know, Roger contacted the track owners the day that Lommel was announced to have the MXdN and asked if he could rent out the track the last day it was allowed. Again, that is not preferential treatment. That is prudent planning.
How do you know tomorrow is a last day it is allowed?

They are only getting to do it because it is Team USA. The track isn't open, that's the point. It was closed today.

They could have flew in earlier and rode on Wednesday with other people like everyone else, but they want special treament.

Imagine if they lost after being the only team allowed a private test day on the track, and being the last people to ride it before the race Tongue #embarassing. Prob won't happen though ha ha Silly

I think if amyone needs to ride the track before they race it, it should be teams like Mongolia, not the top teams lol It could be dangerous having those guys on the track with some of the best guys in the world flying round.

Plus, I doubt it will be anything like it will be on the weekend.

I can't wait to see how this year turns out!

I don't. The argument is not about the date of the ride day, the argument is about the "fairness" of letting the USA have the track to themselves. I was simply using it as an example of why they get to use the track. Really this WHOLE thread doesn't even matter if tomorrow is open practice. Just McCread wanting to whine and complain about the injustices of Motocross.

It's not open practice. I just find it strange that the only team to get a private track day is the USA.

Like I said it won't affect the result USA will win. But it's the principle of it. (regardless of the team)

Trust me, If the race were held on one of our national tracks, none of us would be complaining about the GP boys getting some practice in on the track.

" but they want special treatment. "

Who is they?
Do you think Rodger or the riders asked for "special treatment", or do you think the track offered special treatment to Rodger/Team USA?
What inside facts do you have that show that they "wanted" and indeed did ask for special treatment?
Or are you just talking to talk and pulling assumptions out of your ass, mccread? lol Smile

I don't really care and I agree, I don't really see it being that big of an advantage considering how much the track changes every lap but I do think it is a bit weird that they are getting preferential treatment and even weirder that anyone is allowed on the track this close to the event

but how many GP riders had ridden Budds or Colorado?... (yes this was a rhetorical just bustin ya balls type question)
I don't think it's weird...especially if before hand the track was offered up to them due to their flight schedule & shipping schedules. I would assume Belgium has a lot of respect for The Man and could have offered it up.
Kind gestures aren't weird to me (maybe some are lol).

As for GP riders riding on Budd's or Lakewood, I do feel it would have been a kind gesture if it was indeed offered up to the riders or to some of the top teams as a sign of respect and to help them get better acclimated. But then again, could have they have made it over at least a week before the event/event's? The GP's go longer then the Nationals do.
Team USA went quite a bit earlier then we usually do to these events. It's not like Team USA showed up over there the last Wednesday or Thursday before the race and demanded to ride the track I would assume. Smile

Still would like to know ,who asked who,or who offered what to who.

Haven't "most" of the GP guys rode this track many times before through their own series? Probably have been for years? So the 3 USA riders which have never even seen it.....get one practice day.........and we are getting special treatment?

How many Laps has AC , or Herlings , Big ken , or any of the other GP guys done on this track over the years? Hundreds?

Holy crap....I have seen some severe whining before.....but this takes the cake.

Yes it is really strange to let the riders that have never been there ride the track once. That is crazy and unfair!

Thing is though, the layout of the track changes quite a bit every year. So they would have an advantage in that respect.

In saying that, the part that was open the other day looked pretty similar to last year. If the other half of the track is opened for the US, then that kind of is unfair, because that section is completely different this year

I, personally, am sick of hearing "team USA is being treated special" along with "they would win anway." Pick a damn side and stick with it. Either it matters that they are riding the track or it doesn't, stop arguing with yourself. I understand you are building a "I told you all along they would win" arguement, but shit man, either have a spine or don't. But please stop being the guy that picks both sides so he knows he is right in the end, we are all very sick of hearing it.

The US has to adapt with travel, 2 day format, bike regulations, and tracks that these guys have ridden countless times and one day of open practice is unfair? Got it.

what's weird to me is not that team USA get a day on the track, it's that anyone does this close to the event
although... just to stir a little bit, the Australian team has never seen the track and they haven't been given a day Whistling

buuut it won't matter just like teams that get press day.. especially so for Lommel they prob won't be able to use in the 2nd moto what they learn in the 1st haha

Apparently what I heard was wrong. The track is open for the Americans only today.
But, the track is flat and they can only ride part of it. Something like half the track.

Funny thing is that here we are argueing about it, while the other Nations-riders don't give a shit that team USA is riding there today.
Wednesday they had they opportunity to train at Lommel and there were about 10 MXoN riders there. So if it is such a big deal, where were the other 60 or 70 Nations-riders wedsnesday?

Just let these guys ride today. They have never ridden it, have probably a huge jetlag and it is not even the complete track.....

They must be locking the new section off then. The footage from de reuvers go pro showed that half the track is the same as last year, so the gp guys aren't really missing anything.

Yep from the video's out so far this week it looks like a few riders have been able to ride the track if they wanted, so letting the American team ride the same part everyone else already has this week is fair enough.

Think the only team missing out will be the Aussies, well at least the Yamaha riders who don't fly out till Monday, though sounds like they have been getting plenty of sand practice at a private track in Aus.

Love the quote from Cody Cooper in the Vurb Vid, Yeah the track will be tough be we raced in the sand in Aus this year and it was tough and up and down hill.

Wanneroo in Western Australia is also endless deep sand, and the top three from our MX1 class will all be racing (two for Aus and one for NZ) and our MX2 winner from that round will be in our team.

Aussie underdogs Smile same as the Kiwis.

I wish we could be like Great Britain and call ourselves Great Australasia, and then they got rid of that bullshit age rule in MX2, a team off Reed, Townley and someone like Metty in MX2 would be a challenge for any team Smile

Gordon Crockard said that was one of the toughest tracks he has ever raced.

You think Kiwis and Aussies would race on the same team?!

From someone who rode there yesterday:

The place was open yesterday for practice with part of the actual race track too

Today is closed for private USA practice day where they can ride the actual MXdN track

Personally, even though its a bit strange, and not usually the done thing,I don't think there's too much of a problem with them riding there,if the track is open for practice anyhow,it can only help them, that's obvious

I think that the only thing of significance is the track is open only certain days of the week, the GP teams are all pointing to the MX GP in Germany this weekend ,the guys you see riding in the vids are mostly local or based near, dont think just because guys are based this side of the pond they can go practice there anytime, its not as easy as that, those other guys have only recently arrived here like Cody Cooper, the other teams from away or the smaller teams may not have had the chance to practice like the USA,we don't know how much it cost them or if the deal was done with Y/S or the track

How come they are the only ones who get to ride the full MXDN track?

Seems a strange set up to me. Maybe the other teams will get to ride the full track on Monday Tongue

the american team is NOT riding the full track. they're riding the same part of the track the other rode yesterday.
