The PR-Machine is arrived... Is this where Jodi is talking about? Press?? They are all dropping there pants for some free food and drinks!

Americans who are taking this opportunity to say that there aren't fast riders in Europe need to shut up. There are even more fast riders in Europe! Look at Loic Larrieu, top ten rider in the MX2 class last weekend, didn't want to pay for a ride so he didn't got a WC ride! Now he is replacing Joel Roelants and he is finishing in the top ten. And there are in every country a couple of those cases. Guys who are capable of riding the world championship but Youthstream and friends like MXGeoff are preferring to watch guys like: Mihail Cociu (Bought himself into the SilverAction KTM Team).

Mihail Cociu best lap time at the Grand Prix of Lierop was 2.30, the second slowest was Davis Livs that guy rode a lap time of, tadadadada, 2.20! The best lap time at the GP of Lierop was 2.04! Guys like Cociu are a disgrace for the championship.

But MXGeoff I won't take anymore of your time so you can go on with butt fucking Luongo! I don't know how you can live with yourself, I really don't know how you do it. The only thing I can think of is that you aren't a motocross fan because if you where one, than you would preference to see 120 riders trying to qualify for 40 places. You would prefer to see the best 40 riders from Europe and some very good Aussies, Asians, ...

If you where a motocross fan you should want to see that the riders get payed for there results! But there isn't any price money god damed and still you are cheering like a fucking teenage groupie on dope!
See you in Lommel Mattii, although I probably won't, because you are one of those people who sit behind your computer with your big fat belly and act like you're a tough guy. When in fact you are just one of the small people of the World hoping to one day make it.

I don't even know who Cociu is, and if his times are 2.30 or 2,20 it doesn't matter. I've never watched the back of a motocross race, because the best guys are racing up front. I couldn't care if its 20 riders the grid or 40, makes no difference to me.

I am not the Motocross police, just a fan who liked to see good racing, but you obviously have been watching Cociu, your palms sweating and your negative brain giving you every reason to go home unhappy with Lierop. Pity, was a good weekend, I loved it.

Hatred is a terrible thing, jealousy even worse, and you my friend have loads of both. As for being a coward and writing the shit you write about me, hows about coming up to me in Lommel and giving me your comments. Hey, I am only a small guy, no threat to you........

Why would they mention the AMA for pro racing?

The AMA is all over the Amateur side at the MXSports site. I have no idea what they do on the ground at LL. I grew up before the thing took off, for sure was an an absolute squid with no chance of going, and never had a kid in the game.

I don't think I'm protesting too much; what does that mean anyway? But, if you can't tell, I am pissed at Rigdon for inviting an what I thought was an honest conversation and then finding out it was a soapbox where anyone who put forth the facts at odds with his spin on whatever people are whispering in his ear is corrupt.
Just because you are pissed, it doesn't mean you have to suspend logic.

When logos disappear, it means an ownership battle is on people's minds and they are maneuvering.

That's what made me curious.......
I know in my experience business wise it usually means there is a change coming.

I just found it odd that it happened in both Pro and Am racing at the same time.

Further news on the Chuck Sun Lommel Campaign fund, Davey Coombs & RacerX have sent Chuck a sizeable donation as has British VMX enthusiast Gary Cartmel and other pledges promised from Ohio VMX fan and new owner of the Primm collection Tom Reese.
Big thank you to all of you for making this happen, Chuck is "over the moon" that he will be able to be in Lommel 31 years later for another MXDN.
If any other fans want to support Chuck with a donation, however big or small, please send me a PM and I will give you Chuck's email address to Paypal money too!
Thanks,

people can say what they want about Luongo and Coombs, but have their hearts in the right place and love this sport.

One thing I dont understand about that article....

Sanctioning fees went from $25k to $750k per race and yet purse money went from $3.5 million to ZERO.

Which makes me ask, how in the hell did the GPs survive under the former system? It seems they were paying out way more than they were taking in. Something isnt adding up.

That isnt to say Im defending Luongo or discrediting Jody's journalistic integrity. I think there is a lot of truth to that article.

So did this so called Champions League ever get off the ground, or did it blow over because UEM worked out the kind of person they were involved with?

http://www.supermotos1.com/news.php?id=31&idCat=1

UEM and Youthstream have decided to work on new projects:

A large amateur programme. Improve the quality of the Motocross of European Nations - which from this year will be open to the ‘A’ Team and where Youthstream will make strong promotion with television and media coverage. From next year there will be one big event - the ‘MX Champions League’- a European Championship for all top riders. Concerning the Junior, we are working to support the 85 big wheel. There will be a Championship divided into 4 regions (North East Europe, South East Europe, North West Europe and South West Europe) and then the top ten from each region will race the final held together with an FIM Motocross World Championship Grand Prix.

‘It’s fantastic cooperating with the UEM, as we have the feeling to be true partners,’ Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, Youthstream President, said. ‘We know the importance of the European Championship in creating the base for our sport’s pyramid as the large majority of riders in the World Championship come from the European Championship. We have to concentrate our European activities on 2 key points: the young and the amateur. To give visibility to the European title, we must have some exceptional events with big stars. Therefore, we will have 2 main events – the ‘Motocross of European Nations’ and the ‘MX Champions League’. This is to bring attention and value to the European title as it already exists in many other sports, like football, athletics, etc., where the European title is very important,’ Mr. Giuseppe Luongo added.

Well there is a strongly contested European Championship and a healthy Youth series, along with the European Motocross of Nations but that is naturally overshadowed massively by the main event a few weeks prior and only really consists of youth riders.

Not sure about the Champions League idea though.

The AMA logos are on the ads, the logos, the backdrops, the trophies, the trailers, the programs....

Don't read too much into the fact that it's confusing to a lot of folks that there are two different AMAs, two different AMA logos, two different offices -- one in Daytona, one in Ohio -- that sanction Lucas Oil Motocross (AMA Pro Racing) and Monster Energy Supercross (AMA).

Contrary to The Rock's odd guesses, I have zero intention of ever starting or running a sanctioning body. I'm kind of busy as it is...

No worries man, I wasn't trying to go all conspiracy theory with this.
I think if you read any of my posting history on here you will find I am not one to push an agenda based on rumors.

It is indeed confusing about the split sanctioning, DMG AMA FIM......too many initials......lol.
I actually had a pretty good conversation with Kip about this very subject a little while ago.

Again just something I noticed because I listen to that stuff a little more closely than some folks do.

Sand AND rain? You guys are really going all-out to make this difficult for Team USA!

No problem, but we will bring an umbrella just in case for Peter Chamberlain's Cup so it doesn't get wet up there atop the podium with our boys....

The absence in logic was in Rigdon's original question.

Ooh I had a great day in Lierop, Talking with some riders. Watching Herlings humiliate the field. But the trued is that some guys where slower then the locals I saw at the Belgian Championship in Mont Saint Guibert. (Coulon, Christophe Martin, Marvin Van Daele, Manuel Priem, Janvier). Realize how much better it would be if all the great riders from Europe came to the GP trying to qualify for those x2 - 40 start places. Also I didn't saw you, maybe because you where to deep into somebodies ass, but more likely because you where eating free sponsored salads and drinking Monster Energy.

Cociu is one of those guys who aren't capable of qualifying at the Dutch Nationals but is capable of riding World Championships because he has money, You don't know him... Strange! Bye the way this tells allot: "I couldn't care if its 20 riders the grid or 40, makes no difference to me." And this tells even more: "I am not the Motocross police, just a fan who liked to see good racing" You aren't a fan you're are a so called journalist who spreads propaganda.

For the record if "Wanna Make It" means that I need to turn into a ass kissing copy of you I think I choose to be an almost nobody. Bye the way don't know yet if I go to Lommel 120 Euro is CRAZY MONEY!!

Geoff, first of all I'm really suprised that a guy who get's paid by Youthstream has the guts to call himself a journalist.
You are the living proof of the cowards in the GP pressroom. Since YS pays your tickets for overseas flight and pays you for making propaganda bullshit for YS you are no more that Luongo's slave. You can't even say anything negative about youthstream or Luongo otherwise you would be instantly unumployed....

But please explain me Geoff, why the hell don't the GP-riders get any money for qualifying like in the old days? Why don't they get any pricemoney anymore?
While if they race a race in the Dutch Championship or a RB National they CAN make some good money??? Why have MANY great racers left the GP´s the last years just to race the Enduro World championship or RB Nationals while we have to look at a bunch of clowns like Michael Thacker, for example.
Please, PLEASE answer these questions honestly! O wait, that will cost you your job.....

First my friend, YS don't pay for the air tickets to races and I didn't even go to Mexico this year or Brazil. Last year I went to America, but not Brazil.

Secondly, I work for myself, do some work for the YS website, just like I do work for so many other clients. I am always postive, a reason why YS hired me, same as so many others, it's not because I am a journalist, because I am not, I am just a fan who gets paid to go to the races.

Because you know 100% zero about me and you are just guessing why should I answer anything you want. I don't even know who you are and like your Belgian friend you won't have the balls to say this type of thing to my face, rather sit behind your computer and talk BS.

Wake up mate and start acting like an adult. Or are you just a kid?

Just give the people here an answer to these questions. Why are you avoiding them?
Why do al these good riders leave the gp´s and how on earth is it possible that the fans have to pay loads of money to look at clowns like Cociu and Thacker? They should never be allowed to race in the GP's, they wouldn't even get point in any national race in Europe. But since they bring a lot of money to Youthstream / Luongo they can race gp's, while lots of much faster riders race just some local races, because they can't afford this bullshit.

Please, PLEASE answer these questions honestly! O wait, that will cost you your job.....
I do remember Geoff recently said he's no journo, even admits Youthstream pays his salary. Maybe not promoted enough, or maybe it's up to us to figure that out by ourselves?

In the end, karma wins, meaning if more decent riders choose to go elsewhere, a brave new series will pop up, or the malfunctioning one, get it's shit together. I would celebrate Geoff covering that series on equal grounds.

Seems the wheels are turning pretty damn slow though...

The bases for a success as mentioned by MXMatti, must be when all the best riders from all over choose one event to play in, and when the spill to others events are miniscule...

I don't hate on anyone for doing what they have to do to maintain a living.
Thanks for that 500guy. Not only that, but I like Mr. Luongo a lot. I like many things what he has done for the GPs. You won't meet a more loyal man than Giuseppe Luongo and I have huge respect for him. Do I care if people think I am an ass crawler, not even a little bit. I am my own man, and supply a good living for my kids and you won't meet a more honest guy than me. At least that is what my family and friends tell me and at the end of the day that is all I care about.

And for the negative people. I AM NOT A JOURNALIST, just a fan. So stop expecting me to find reasons to shit on the sport I have watched for 45 years.

The above statement is pretty solid, still I think people ask you to be a journo, because the whole set up with your site, articles etc kind of promotes the idea of "journalism". Maybe it's us, but I think you know what I mean, and part, maybe even mainly, that's why people visit your site, or read your articles?

It's not that your stuff has PR written all over...

Journalist - Noun

a : a person engaged in journalism; especially : a writer or editor for a news medium

b : a writer who aims at a mass audience

Journalism has developed a variety of ethics and standards. While objectivity and a lack of bias are often considered important, some types of journalism, such as advocacy journalism, intentionally adopt a non-objective viewpoint.

I don't know Geoff......sounds like what you do to me.

You are the living proof of the cowards in the GP pressroom. Since YS pays your tickets for overseas flight and pays you for making propaganda bullshit for YS you are no more that Luongo's slave. You can't even say anything negative about youthstream or Luongo otherwise you would be instantly unumployed....

agreed, i am a bit gutted i missed the days of 100 plus riders trying to qualfiy for 125 gp's,

after about the top 10 in both classes it is a bit of a joke, some of the riders should not be out there, and do not deserve to be on the line in GP's,

Motocross was the last motorsport you did not have to have a massive team or money behind you to succeed, that has gone now, with a heap of riders making more money in national series, now its just like car racing were you need a big sponsor or parents to be behind you to make it in the world champs,

I know Kiwi's like the King brothers would have never made it to the world champs under the current rules, they lived off the qualifing money, I know at some time all 3 brothers were at the point were if they did not qualify this weekend they had enough money to get home, and qualifying kept them going until the next GP,

proof is the Driven to ride series, Derek and Tucker could never have afforded to do the world championships,

MXGeoff. You got to be kidding? You are playing games with us right? If you are a true fan and going to many races, and NOT heard any negative things about how Llongo taking all money etc etc. You must be placed close to him or maybe in his rectum very deep for sure....Llongo are slowly destroying our fantastic sport for ever. In Nordic countries are we loosing mx-riders/fans faster then the Black Death. Our sport is a C-sport nowdays. There isn't any richieboys who want or can pay a spot in the paddok. No Nordic riders in the sportnews and young riders quit because there is no chance in hell you can become a GP-rider anymore. And you dear Sir are standing behind that idea for some freebees in the viptent? You are so stupid so i cant find words anymore.Get fu.....real.

You are also standing behind lies about 25 000 spectators when reality is 10 000.....max? You must be proud of yourself or your "friends" telling you how good you are. That's all that matters....
