Stock CR 250's rule. Reminds me of my first few brand new bikes, all CR 250's. I've had better bikes since, but there was nothing like the first few rides on my 93, 94 and 95 CR's. My 97, we won't talk about that. Wink

Funny about those 97's isn't it! A friend of mine had a brand new one out of the Primm collection that he couldn't give away. I think it finally went away at about three grand. Collectors weren't even interested. lol

'07 CR250's are few and far between. When I was looking for one, there were only 2 available in the national craigslist database and none on ebay.

Honda didn't make very many of them so they will be very collectible some day.

I know it's a little pricey, but that brand new 06 is totally appealing. It would be a toss up to get it over a new YZ, just sayin'

The local Honda dealer had an 07 CR250 on the floor in Dec. 07 stickered at $3799.00. Of course they wanted freight and setup but back then it wasn't a totally outlandish number like they are grasping at these days. I almost made an offer to buy it without the "fees" but was there for another bike that day.

There were some great deals happening during that period. In the summer of 07, I bought a new 06 CRF450 for $4400. Then two years later I bought a new 08 CRF450 for $4500. I should have bought two of the 08's.

How do those CR's compare to the YZ's? Stock and then after a few mods? They sure look sexy!

The CR handles much better and the engine responds well to some simple mods.

Well, after buying my 2006 YZ250 in excellent shape for $2200, I kinda laugh that someone would pay $7250 for a CR250. I had an 02 and an 04 CR250 and my YZ would romp all over them. Don't care about mods. The YZ romps right out of the box.

That is the same year yz250 I am looking for after I sold my 2004 cr250 a few days ago. I also wouldnt mind getting a 2005 and up rm250 because they are basically a clone of the yz250s minus the SSS suspension.

Anyone buying a last generation CR250 must immediately factor in 100 dollars for a Keihin PWK carb. It's virtually mandatory on that bike.

To think that Goose somehow got 58rwhp out of RC's Mikuni-equipped bike, jetted it perfectly enough to go 24-0 is absolutely mind-boggling. There is NO WAY that was a standard Mikuni TMX on his bike.

I spent less than $100 to get my CR's engine running well. No amount of money will make a YZ handle as well as a CR. Then there are parts prices. Yamaha parts are priced like gold, whereas Honda prices are very reasonable. For example, a new '07 CR radiator retails for $179 and a new '07 YZ radiator retails for $346!

and I will stand by the fact that the last generation CR250 is God's motocross bike. It had a couple quirks that Honda would have worked out had they not ditched the two-stroke program in 03 or so. The thing has crankcase volume like a 250cc GP road racer, and with a little port work and an understanding of fluid dynamics, it absolutely screams.

I know that bike has sold, but no way I would pay that if you plan on riding it. It would depreciate a ton after riding it a season or two. Look how much a new $8500 bike depreciates after a couple of years. You can get a 2009-10 250Fs for around $3000-3500 here. That's a $5000 loss! And most used ones have some minor mods added in. Not to mention that by buying a used bike, you can find out what the long term weaknesses are with each bike. I can have just as much fun on my $1000 2003 CR125 as I can on a shiney new 250F. Granted, I couldn't resist making it look new, so I have around $2000 total, but that's a far cry from the price of a new one.

I am a die hard Honda guy, but in my opinion the CR250 went downhill after 2001. I had an 04 that had so many jetting issues out of the box I spent tons of time trying to get it right, and I still wasnt that happy with it.

$5k is too much for an American, sounds about right over here in Aus.

It is worth $5k if you want one bad enough. I bought mine new 07 for over $6 and I do not plan on parting with it. Especially if some cheapskate wants it as a gift. Just like CamP says the bike handles excellent and the power is great just needs some tuning, it turns better than anything I have ever owned. Cool
