Dean Porter was beaten by both Waters and Bopping on his home track.
Nothing against Porter at all, he is an awesome rider and a top bloke, one of the nicest guys on the circuit as I am sure you know Whitey
But hard to go past Bopping and Waters when they finished 2nd and 3rd at our deepest sand race of the year, and then at Hervey bay our next Sandiest race (nothing like Wanneroo though) Bopping won the round ahead of Waters
At Wanneroo they also finished in front of riders such as Josh Coppins, World class rider who should have had a GP MX1 Championship against his name, Cooper A rider that has proved that he can race up front in the AMA, Current British Champion Brad Anderson, Jake Moss also with speed to burn and our four time National Champ Jay Marmont to name just a few. Dam Simmonds and Dan Reardon were also racing, more AMA and World championship experience than you could poke a stick at.
To say the best they could hope for is winning the B main is a bit harsh, Def a stronger line up than New Zealand and I would say the only change for them having their strongest team would be swapping one great rider for an awesome rider if Townley was available.
Can see both NZ and Aus finishing inside the top 10 if all riders ride at their best, would not surprise me to see Aus finish inside the top 5, Both Waters and Bopping like sand tracks, and Styke also won at Wanneroo in the MX2 class. Yes maybe not our strongest team, but certainly our strongest available team, and a very strong team at that.
Picking porter was never gonna happen, for starters he didn't beat waters or bopping at any of the sand rounds this year, and secondly what team is going to support him over there? He's australias version of mike alessi.

Think all three have the potential to really turn some heads, Waters is 21, but to speak to him you would swear his is a middle age racer with plenty of years of racing experience.
Has plenty of speed and found the consistency to go with it this. Though really he has been right there the past couple of years, very rarely crashed just unfortunately when he did in 2010 and 11 it put him out of the championship, pretty sure both those years he was running near the front when he went out.
Waters has a super smooth style, not often that you see him out of shape.
Bopping much along the same lines as Waters young and fast, though just starting to really find his feet in the MX1 class over here, has been a very good year for him. On his day he is as fast as anyone.
Styke will do well in the MX2 class, another talented young aussie rider.
Not to mention, sounds like a Lommel tradition.
