He's also what? 16, 17 yrs of age?

You think AC92, Webb or Bisceglia or any of the other LL phenoms in his age group are running anywhere near as fast as he is at the moment?

Oh you mean like Roczen that is as old as Herligns but already has a Wrold Championship title, a second place in a 450 sx race, a sx 250 win and a 250 moto win outdoors? Wink
More facts:

Roczen is 6 month older then Herlings which allowed him to start racing GP’s early in the 2009 season.
His first GP was in Portugal, 2 weeks after he turned 15.
Roczen raced 11 GP’s in 2009.
Herlings turned 15 halfway through September when the 2009 season was already over.
His first GP was the first GP of the 2010 season.

Thats a very uneducated statement. He hung with Roczen the majority of last year and beat him four times, but he sucks on hard pack right?

Think so, he def won a GP his first year. Everts had to be pretty young, winning a 125 title back in 1991. Bubba won the 125 Title at 16 I believe too. Herlings is great in his own right of course

It’s his birthday today, turns 18 today.

Everts raced his first GP at 17. Won his first title two years later when he was 19.
Shows you how easy that second rate series is to win.... ;-)

Lol.
That's the other way to explain it.
I'd say those 2 teenagers are exeptionally talented. Smile

I love the supercross analogy.

You failed to mention that the greatest supercross rider in the history of the sport wasn't so good at motocross. Certainly couldn't dominate with his supercross skills outdoors now could he.

Not to mention that the 250 AMA National champ came 4th (almost 5th) in a regional sx championship Tongue

Can't ride Supercross? It's an interesting thing to have in common. If they are truly great riders, then they should be able to pick up Supercross like any of our amateur riders coming up. If they can't, then that's a problem. To be the best, you need to be well rounded.

How about a neutral race like the Monster Cup, it would more than pay their way over.........if they can win. This shouldn't be a problem for the BEST riders in the world, you know....legends.
Or maybe they are not interested in Supercross.....possible, even for the fastest Motocross riders in the World. I mean, no disrespect, but De Coster, Robert, Hallman, Everts, Geboers, Everts, Smets, Jobe, and that Cairoli guy couldn't and can''t race Supercross. Those guys must suck big time!!!!

He's gonna be 18 in December. He's not any younger than the fast guys over here

He has been winning for 3 years though. Kids in the states are still on superminis at the age he was winning world championship events in the pro class

Even Chad Reed was 18 when he began racing overseas. This kid has had a lot of success very early, and i think deserves a bit of respct for his ability on a bike. Not alot of that floating around in this place unfortunately.
Maybe that's because their amateur leagues aren't half as competitive as ours?

He is 17 Baggett Tomac and Barcia are all 20/21. They have also never raced a series outside their own country. Herlings and Roczen were racing GPs at 15, when all those guys were riding schoolboys at that age.

Herlings and Roczen are phenomenal talents, two of the best the world has ever seen.

and Machine, SX is an American sport, Motocross is worldwide.

You don't see many Americans willing to take them on in the World championship.
Baggett and Barcia are 20. Tomac is 19. Get your facts right next time.

Your National champion Blake Baggett has won just one supercross race and has never been on a podium at the end of the season.

Tomac was 17 at Hangtown 2010 I think...

I said 20/21 as in 20 or 21. So that makes me right if they are both 20.

Seriously? Well, ok , I guess if you consider today as being opposite day, or that winning only one outdoor big bike title as being "not so good", then you could be correct.. In my opinion, proving yourself by winning a title and then choosing to not race that particular series anymore doesnt make you "not so good"....

Bagget has 3 supercross wins. Dallas in 2010 on the Rockstar Suzuki Team, and Daytona and Las Vegas in 2011 with PC. He just missed finshing 3rd overall by 4 pts in 2011 and 10 pts in 2012.

Hold up a second, here...

Some of you are saying MC can't rail out-doors...my bad...I just realized this.

MC simply didn't WANT to race "Outdoors" anymore & he had his reasons. But, let's be clear...he DID have some SUCCESS "Outdoors"...

I think 95.. i have the season review with David Bailey and Art Eckman. My god were those two a treat to listen to.

One quote I recall..

David Bailey-

"I saw Jeremy in the off season.. and he looked about 20 pounds lighter. And anytime you can change your appearance THAT much (in his David Bailey face) you're serious about something."

And MC Took the shit home that year. Cause he wanted to.

These guys kid themselves that MC couldn't have won more MX titles. Those who paid attention know better.

And SMOKED everyone in '96 at the MXDN as well. Like Manny said it isn't he couldn't, he didn't want to. He nearly won the '96 MX championship too, with a jacked up foot.

WHO do you think sorts out the R&D stuff at Honda for the CRF-R line.

And, they do the R&D "Outdoors", too, ya know.

Then there's his latest Baja adventures where he continues to prove that he's STILL a Bad-Ass.

And teaching Tony how to hit big hits in SoCal with KW. I still love the early Crusty vids of him hucking 180' at the dunes and Castillo ranch photos.

The guy is as bad as they come,I think too many "fans" of the sport nowadays can sometimes get all too carried away with counting Titles as a measure of how good a rider is or was at stuff
