Why not just take your kid to the tattoo parlor get him inked up throw a flat bill on him and drive him down to the county lockup?

If they are looking up to JG33 that is where they are headed.

It's the gang signs, the stupid faces, the entitled attitude. The guy is fast and talented. He is also caught up in the whole bro lifestyle.
Have you met DIrtyfilter75? He's a total internet guy.

It's the name calling, the stupid comparisons, the "i have to talk shit about others to get thru the day" attitude. The guy is neither fast or talented. He is caught up in the whole hater lifestyle.

Wes we have met man and you were always super cool and I felt I was equally as polite to you. I am not caught up in being a hater at all. On the contrary in fact I happen to love the sport and I realize not everyone has to be a role model. Josh Grant will never be a fan favorite such as Windham or a class act like MC.

It's just not who he is.

As for the name calling go back and re read. That dude started the shit with me I merely reciprocated.

i've only gotten three autographs that i really cared about and was happy about.

MC in '96 at washougal. the dude was larger than life, and he was totally cool to us.
RC in '97 at washougal. he was on rails on that 125.
Metzger in '96 at washougal, he signed "go big, bigger than everyone" and was a total bad ass.

lately though, i agree with you. it doesn't do much for me anymore

I'm with ya. I used to get in the lines when my kids were young because they were into it. But I couldn't care less for myself. For me, pit passes are a waste of money.

The worst part is he is he couldn't be more off base. I am not the least bit religious.

Grant has always been this way it's part of the Bro persona. He's not the only one either. The fans probably get annoying after a while?

Thank you, very nice of you to say. Where did we meet? And what's your name? I don't get why everyone uses screen names.

My point was why the name calling? When I turned your post around on you, I felt like a complete asshole. So why do that to Josh? Why do you CARE if he sucks as a person?

I agree on the bro attitude point. That's fine. Most of us probably think that from what we've seen. BUT...

Dude... I have visible tattoos. I work 60 hours a week. I pay taxes, bills, drive a nice car. I open doors. I give my chair to old ladies. I run two businesses. Either I'm the minority or we have a serious misconception.

That attitude is VERY outdated and narrow-minded. Unless you were joking. Then fuck everything I just wrote.

Either way, lets go riding. Smile

I was a fan when he holeshot his first Nat, then stalled in a turn. Now I don't really care for him after his uncalled for slam on Alessi, his karma has been screwed ever since. Dude better find him some Jesus.

Gang signs? You mean the metal-mulisha sign when he was sponsored and being paid by them?

That's so gangster! Next he'll be doing drive by shootings.

I can't speak for the OP but every time I've met Grant or his father they've been nothing but nice people.

I've bashed on Grant in the past so I'll redress the balance, we've been at the track a few times when he's been suspension testing and we've hung out, my bud does there suspension , and he seemed O.K .

I wasn't talking MX with him or anything just regular crap and I'm a bit older so I could care less about the "cool", "bro" or all that crap but he seemed pretty O.K to me.

Or do you mean his results on the track will always be shitty because he must not a good person?

Meh, anything he might have signed is worth more without his signature.

Okay, let me tell you a couple of positive stories... First RC, my dad and I were eating at Outback in Rochester MN (the bar section). Ricky comes up and asks to sit down with us at our booth (so he would have it when we left). My dad did not know him from adam and spent the next 30 minutes talking in depth about our family sod business. Here we are sitting across from God and all he talks about is grass..Ricky was mindbendly polite and a perfect listener the entire time....treated my dad with total respect.

Second story, I am at the annual GH Vet national races in November. My budy raced the pro class with Wardy, Wardy sort of break checked him at the first turn and they took him away in the meat wagon (although not Wardy's fault). Anyway, I am helping my buds wife get the motor home loaded up so she can go to the hospitial and someone comes to the door...well it is my hero Jeff Ward (one in a million odds). He is interested in this type of motor home and wants to purchase one just like it...he keeps talking for almost 30 minutes to me... a virtual nobuddy, he is so nice, relaxed and normal that it drives me nuts...and he will not leave (go figure)!!!

I actually have one more really neat storty about RonRon...but this is for another day...

Bottom line is there are some really good dudes out there.....

brought my son to Honda of Houston one year to get McGrath's sig and got there at the end and when the time was up he got up and walked out. I was pissed at first be he walked out saying he was starving and I can respect that. It was over. If you don't plan to sign posters don't put the sign out saying you are. Bro, tatts or not it's what the kids look for...

I approached Josh at Washougal a few yrs back to get his signature on my cap(that has probably 50 autographs on it-legends too-only 2 I lack are Reed, Stewart), and he was eating a bowl of fruit right by the bike, 8 ft away from me.
His reply?..."I'm gonna eat now"....ok....I got it.These guys don't want to "get stuck" as I overheard Trey Canard say. They want to take a break from the adoring public-if they mosey over to the banner to sign one-here comes the crowd w posters, shirts, hats you name it for them to sign. So, I backdoored it and asked one of the wrenches to take the cap in to the trfansport and have Josh sign it-which he did. Wink They get this week in and week out.

I'm a 55 y/o guy and realize what these guys go through. But kids don't. A couple things though.......one...if it weren't for the fans, some of these guys would be lucky to be working at Lowes. Two, some of them need to realize and be aware of the collosal influence they have on the youngsters. It's part of the job boys.

Of the pros I've met and spoke with, most are good people that have insecurities just like the rest of us. And I've noted as they age, they realize the impact they have on there fans(witness KDub, MC, all of the seasoned racers)
The day will come when the public won't seek your autograph or even know who you are in many cases.
They'd best enjoy the life & hoards of fans while they can.

I was at a vintage race several years ago.....Jim and Ron Pomeroy were there, Ron was racing Jim was not. Anyway at the riders meeting Jim speaks up and says " I can sign for anyone who wants an autograph today" Everyone started laughing, and Jim turned beat red! Not slamming Jim ....he was a cool guy, but it was funny.Smile

Who really cares about autographs anyways? ha. I am with a few of you guys here. I could care less but I guess if it was important to my kid then I would be pretty pissed.

Biggest thing is not jump to conclusions. You don't know what was going on in Grants head at that exact moment. There were 2 different perspectives going on. If he knew how important it was to you then he probably would of been there signing.

Not what I have personally seen with Josh. My son (not a BroTool at all (6yrsold)) got to take a pic with him this weekend while standing just like you and your son. I've seen Josh on many of occasions go out of his way to break from the bro down with family/friends to chat it up with the kids. I was NOT a big fan of his untill I witnessed his kindness to the kids.

These guy's have people standing there all day and most likely loose track of what time autograph sessions take place. I just said "hey Josh can you take a pic?" he said yes with a smile and gladly waits and chats with the kids.

15 mins right? Nice guy or asshole, it's only 15 mins. He should have given it. I've had guys who've been talking to people in their bike area and they took the time out of their conversations to shake my hand and my kids' hand - Mike Alessi and Kevin Windham. Mike Alessi was on his way to a practice session, but stopped to get a picture with us. Pretty awesome.
