Agree 100%. You will never hear an arguement from me on this... he was worn down by "big business" in my opinion.

Jeez, you act like these guys are juicing like Lyle Alzado. Not saying no one uses PED's, but, I doubt the amounts and duration are really harmful in the long term. JMO
The very nature of the sport is far more dangerous than the PEDs themselves. But that requires too much common sense for most to comprehend.

This topic has been beaten to death. Some know whats up, while the rest stick their head in the sand for ignorance is bliss.... which means, all of us could care less.

I cant believe everyone fell for another MX Matti bait thread. How this guy has dodged GuyB's broom for so long is beyond me.

The witch hunt was bullshit. ALL his competitors were doping, the playing was level. His genetics and hard work made Lance a champion, not drugs
I respectfully disagree. Drugs are what made Lance Armstrong. Without the aid of stamina and recovery via PED use, he may never have won a Tour de France. I know it's a good story, but it's obvious the guy is a cheat.

And EPO could do wonders for MX athletes. I'm sure someone is or has used in the past. It's naive to think otherwise.

Hey......

Any of you assholes out there with a Citibank credit card......fuck you and everybody that looks like you.

Citi Group was a big part of the financial crisis that cost us billions and hurt the economy.
Any of you folks that use a Citi credit card are a part of that company and are all guilty by association.......assholes.

I conclude that he worked with Lance from this interview.

I quote from the interview:

He (Ricky #4) has always admired Lance Armstrong, and he can get an idea of the type of suffering he goes through and therefore has a huge respect for that profession. When he starts to think he is really suffering, I (Aldon Baker) can always pull out one of my training logs from ‘98 and ‘99 and show him there is a whole other dimension to suffering.

So he made training logs for Lance Armstrong not?

Chris Carmichael was training armstrong back then.

Baker is referring to his personal logs as he raced mountain bike pro back then.

Thanks guys for setting this straight!

@DownSouth No, I'm not saying that... I would never say that. Those guys are living for there sport 24/24. Someone told me that Baker worked with Lance... I was informed wrong, my mistake, so I asked a wrong question. At the end of the day Aldon is one of my hero's because athlete after athlete he makes them better, I would like to run along with him for 14days!

Bye the way, BAMX says: "I think that you are confusing Aldon with Jeff Spencer." So a MX-guy has worked with Lance?
So you're done trying to throw Aldon under the bus, and now want to try and reel in Spencer? Seriously?

I think the whole thing just spotlighted just how ineffective the drug testing was (is?)

FYI, as far as I know, it's the same testing that the riders undergo in our sport.

If you took out drugs, there wouldn't be any competitors left in the Tour de France. They are all doping. So how do you really call it cheating when everyone is doing it? Unfortunate for Lance he's American and they hate us winnning the Tour. Every athlete is looking for an edge in any sport. PED's don't give you some talent that wasn't there, they enhance what you were already born with. So do they now give the titles Lance won to the second place guy, who was also doping? What a joke

My opinion is that Lance should begin his own racing organization and adopt his own testing measures and run things the RIGHT WAY. . . If you figure out a flaw with your testing 15 years down the road, there's absolutely nothing good that can come from going back and trying to take medals away. All that's happened, is it has made the USADA and Lance look like assholes. More so the USADA. . .

I get what you're saying, but the "everybody was doing it" reasoning is a poor one in any instance. It doesn't work in baseball or in the NFL, cycling isn't getting a pass either. PED's, like you said earlier, can be good when used in moderation. Some help the body heal quicker (a competitive advantage) and some, like EPO, help build endurance and physical strength (competitive advantage). And then there's those performance enhancers that we don't know about yet...(see what I did there?)

Cheating is cheating no matter how you slice it.

Cheating is cheating, but, like Chris said, if everyone is doing it, then the winner did not win due to drugs. And you don't win the Tour
7 times because you used drugs. I can't even imagine the amount of training and mental strength it would take to do that. You have to be a truly gifted person to pull that off. Armstrong earned those titles, and the fact that they could be stripped from him is a sick joke.

I think everyone can agree that cheating is cheating right ?? !!

But if all the USADA has is a handful of known/admitted cheaters claiming Lance did it too......that is a different deal.

I understand he was tested +/- 500 times and passed every test.

If you are going to go back in history and re-do tests and rewrite history by stripping medals (and reputation) it would seem important to provide more evidence than he said/ she said claims from others who may have a motive.

USADA has not provided any such evidence.

In the USA a criminal trial would be thrown out for a lack of evidence if it were to even make it that far. It likely would be rejected prior to going to trial.

Using this "back in history" logic there should be an outcry in many, many other sports including Nascar, Olympic sports and all of our cherished national sports. Why single Lance out ?? Even better....why single Lance out without providing something more the heresay evidence ??

It seems that much of his mental strength was gained fighting for his life against cancer.................

He really did win the biggest WAR in his life.....he just appears to have lost this battle.

OR....as Sarah Palin might say.......he may just be reloading !!

i guess my issue is singling out one guy in a corrupt sport, where an "enhanced" cyclist wins every year. Dont get me started on football. The guys now are a good 40lbs heavier than when there was NO drug testing, so draw your own conclusions. I've been weight training for a good 15yrs and I can tell you a guy with 240lbs of lean muscle is juiced out of his tree. That's not even a big guy in the NFL, that's the avg now. You want to talk about abusers, look at the NFL. If any rider's are using , it's in tiny, tiny amounts. I'm not saying it's right or that it's not cheating but it's not making little Johnny a champion when he wouldnt be otherwise

Fro, this is complete speculation on my part but if you could wave a magic wand and clean up the sport of cycling, Lance Armstrong would still have 7 tour titles. For one, he was a one trick pony that only focused and trained for one event. But more importantly, do some reading about his physical makeup, particularly his lung capacity. He is a physical freak of nature with or without drugs.

Doesn't change the fact that Lance won. Seven times. His competitors were on the same program he was. It was a level playing field. He won SEVEN times because of his mental and physical superiority.

'USADA has not provided any such evidence.'

It was my understanding that the evidence will be made public within the next couple of weeks. Until we're all aware of what exactly this includes I think its unfair for people to make judgements either way.

Saying everyone was cheating is the most pathetic exucuse ever. If he did cheat which seems, when you look into it, likely, he is a disgrace for building everything on a lie, it also makes the sport somewhat of a joke.

To me this is similar to what happened in Baseball. MLB knew it was going on and let it go because of the excitement that was going on in the sport back then. Ratings were up, more people were watching. Then all of a sudden the show stopped and THE PLAYERS had to take the fall.

Similar thing in Tour De France. They knew these guys were doing it and let it go. Then they decide they need to clean house when they are just as much at fault for knowing about it and allowing it to continue.

I'm not making excuses at all. I'm not saying he's a great guy or a bad guy either. My whole point is he gained no advantage from doping because everyone else was. Instead of singling out Lance they need to scrap all their records and go back to ground zero. As far as their sport being a joke, they are certainly pushing it in that direction

It is my opinion that Lance isn't fighting this because he doesn't want to drag this thing out and have actual evidence that cannot be produced for legal reasons become admissible or having to be subjected to testimony from close friends and associates. The USADA hasn't provided any concrete evidence yet, doesn't mean that they won't.

Lance's B samples from his 1999 Tour win tested positive in 2004 for EPO.

If you are testing samples five years later and making determinations based on those samples, at that point, it means your sport is effing laughable. Let if fucking go.
