I've never been a guy to watch any TV series on a regular basis ever, but I have seen every episode of The Walking Dead and love it. I highly recommend watching it.

Sons of Anarchy ! I had many sleepless nights watching that series. I just couldn't turn it off. Boardwalk Empire is pretty good too. Duck Dynasty is funny as hell, totally scripted, but funny.

Sons of Anarchy is probably my favorite show of the last few years. It is the only show I can think of that has improved every season, and the first season was damn good so that's saying a lot. Of course Entourage is one of the all time greats. Some seasons were a slight dropoff, but it had one of the best casts of any show. Also everyone is right on the money with Justified. A great new show is Magic City, which just completed its first season on Starz. If you have the "on demand" thing on cable you can catch all the episodes there, or it might be on Netflix or something. I couldn't get into Boardwalk Empire, and I really wanted to like it. Magic City is great though. I didn't expext to like Walking Dead, cause how much can you do with zombies, but it is freaking awesome. If you like a little embelished history with lots of hot chicks and an overdose of lust, The Tudors was one of my favorite shows in the past decade. Watched the entire series (think it was around 4 seasons), then talked the wife amd kid into watching it and watched them all again and they were even better the second time around. The Borgias on Showtime is also really great, and the real Borgia family was the inspiration for The Godfather movies. I'm a real tv buff. While its convenient to find an older show on DVD and watch all the seasons straight through, I take great joy in finding a good show and counting down the days of the week with anticipation for each mew episode.

How can all of these shows be mentioned and no one has brought up Deadwood yet? If you haven't watched it yet, you are missing the best TV since The Sopranos.

Justified is very good, and so is Sons of Anarchy (both use a lot of Deadwood regulars). Southland is the best "cop" show.

The best comedies are Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Archer.

If you've got kids then I can't recommend 'Outnumbered' highly enough. From the BBC, four series of six shows. Funniest thing I've seen in years.

Or if you want serious/crime then 'Luther' is hard to beat.

You're so right, can't believe that went without mention so far. I'd probably put that and SoA as #1 and #2 on the list. If you have sensitive ears, be forewarned that the entire run of all seasons of Deadwood averaged 1.56 F-bombs per MINUTE. I ended up letting my kid (11 at the time) watch the series though because it was that good, and he's mature enough to think for himself and not run around repeating what he hears on TV. So in the spirit of Deadwood...fucking right that' s a great fucking show, so be sure to fucking watch that shit. They used vulgarity in the show as a tool to accentuate the caste system in place in a goldrush town of that era. If you watched a lone episode and weren't familiar with the characters, the language they used quickly established their place in society. Another show with an incredible ensemble cast.

Your only partial because you live 4 miles from DeadwoodWink But that is a great show for sure. SOA, Fringe, Nikita, Touch, Necessary Roughness and I just got into a show called Continuum and it has been pretty good so far. Also for a good laugh the new comedy Men at work has been pretty good.

I'll +1 on Longmire.

Seems almost like he's got a bit of Chuck Norris in him too, at times...
I agree, this thread has provided a new show to keep up with. I have made it through the first two episodes and really like it so far. 'Thunderheart' is one of my favorite movies so Longmire is right up my alley, I love the setting and scenery.

I was flipping channels a couple of weeks ago and accidently caught a few minutes in the middle of the pilot episode and was not sure what I was warcthing. Since I had missed the beginning I kept flipping and forgot about it.

Sons of Anarchy was a good one, I did not like Justified as much. Now time to start checking out Deadwood. Thanks again for you tips!

I was thinking about this thread the other day. One really interesting series imo was the British version of Cracker. The first episode is one of the best in the whole series. Though probably not worth buying since a lot (if not all) of it seems to be on youtube lol.

The consensus at my house would lead one to believe that the only shows worth watching are the housewives and those stupid Kardashian bitches. I'd rather cut my dick off with a plastic fork than watch 2 minutes of either one.

Justified is awesome, Boyd and Raylan's characters are great.

also, Game of Thrones is my favorite, i'm reading the books also as i go. it's amazing how closely the tv series follows the books. very well done.

Luck was good but it got cancelled. as gay as it sounds, Girls isn't that horrible, it's pretty funny sometimes.

Louie is awesome and so is Wilfred (US version)

Sons of Anarchy is really good too.

i can't seem to get into Boardwalk Empire, i want to like it because i like the setting and time, but i just can't.

also, Walking Dead is a great series (zombie survival)

as mentioned above, my favorite series of all time is Deadwood. though i was pissed with how it ended (no spoilers)

edit... if you don't like "Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia" then you are probably a terrorist, and you like quads.

I just discovered 'Hell On Wheels' on the AMC channel. It's a western about the building of the trans-continental railroad right after the end of the civil war.

Season 2 just started, and I had never even heard of the show prior to last week. I caught a couple of last seasons episodes last weekend prior to the season 2 premier and got hooked. I have already gone back through all of season one. The scenery and setting is very well done.

Falling Skies is pretty decent, good time killer not going to blow your mind though.
Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy and Californication are my favorite on TV with their new seasons all about to start.
