From what I saw ( all 110 lbs) he doesn't seem to have the heart, wasn't too upset about crashing. Still stand behind my statement of proving he has heart, time will tell and oh yea...JMO!!

We're entitled to our statements, you and I!! you have yours and I've got mine, nothing personal about Bell, as I said he's got the speed but based on what I've seen son far he's going to have to dig a little deeper to get the results hes more than capable of, time will tell. Once again, nothing personal and I'll be the first to eat that crow sandwich if I'm wrong!!

He's just wondering if the kid can keep it on two for a full race - which I don't think he has yet. While it is impressive as hell to qualify and pull a holey, crashing out of every moto won't make a career.
I dont take it personally, cowgirl, i dont know Bell or care for his feelings, just stating how its an accomplishment to qualify. Everything IS bigger in Texas,...even its ritards.

Can this kid stay on two feet for more than a few laps or what? He's great off the start but what's the point if he can't make anything of it? I was talking to a buddy and he informed me that he was the same way all throughout amateur racing as well, consistently hurt. Sounds like someone else Ive heard of...Stewart...speed doesn't mean much when you can't show any results for it. Poor kid.
Weak argument.... absolute bullshit

Coyote... you based an assumption on very limited info. I would think with your resume, you would wait for more data to make an opinion. From my perspective, Zach Bell was seeing stars. Very dangerous to get on a bike punch drunk.

My kids are a few years younger than Zach and have been riding with him for about ten years.

Zach has as much heart as anyone on the track. If anything, he is trying too hard. He is an incredible rider and just has to settle down a bit. All in all, what he did in his first two races is unbelievable.
8/19/2012 4:59pm
I have known Zach since he was about 8 or 9 years old. I have watched him ride just about every amateur national he has ridden. If I had to use a phrase to describe him, lack of heart would not even be on the list. The kid has battled back from a ton of injuries, gives 110% every time he is on the track (maybe should back it down to 105%). So he crashed out in his first two nationals running at the front of the best group of riders in the world. Big deal. Lack of heart would be settling for 15th, not riding on the edge to try to stay up front.

Thank you, jeesh. If I wanted to be rude I could have been but I was just asking hence why at the end I put "poor kid". He crashes out, from amateur career all the way up to this one apparently and I was just curious.

I'm not saying he sucks dick, if you can read, I'm asking if he can run with the big dogs and keep it on two wheels because he's known to crash out and get inured. It's what he's known to do. Like I said, holes hotting and leading a lap is great but what's it to show if you can't pull results. You guys maybe open your eyes a little. I'm not saying the kid sucks, I'm simply saying he can't keep the bike on two wheels.

Which is one huge factor as to why he's getting holeshots haha bulking up isn't the way to go. He just needs to stop crashing. It's no shocker that he's on the ground, everyone apparently knew it was going to happen because it happened his whole amateur carrer. It's no accomplishment to lead then fade back to ninth before the half way mark. Just saying.

"Just saying" that you are an IDIOT, no make that an F_ _ _ing IDIOT... This is by far one of the dumbest freakin remarks that I have seen on any of the message boards, or moto sites for that matter.

"It's no accomplishment to lead then fade back to ninth before the half way mark" - What class do you race? How many nationals have you qualified for? How many amateur titles do you have? and what Factory support team were you picked up by before going pro? I do not normally spend my time replying to posts on the message boards but you sir suck ass and for this I felt the need to say something!

Since when is falling - Fading? I have watched both of the Bell brothers race against my son through the years and knew from the first few times that they had a gift just as the first time I saw Dean Wilson race transitioning from a mini to the 250's.

You should be taking out a full page add to express your regret towards the stupidity that has been displayed on this site as well as personally saying sorry to Zach.
Where in this post did I say I was better than Bell? That I could pull a hollie over Bell? That Bell sucks. That Bell has no titles? That I can beat Bell? IM NOT COMPARING HIM TO MYSELF I'm confused as to how you're saying how many have I gotten how many have I done this and that. I'm comparing him to all the other riders in his class. Not myself.

Since when is falling fading? Since when did I refer to his crash as a fade? Never. He was in 3rd or so and FADED back to about 9th WITH OUT FALLING I was asking a QUESTION.

Write a full page to Zack? Ok I forgot I was in 5th grade and had to write on the chalkboard 100X saying sorry to someone who can't take some criticism. Man, people really can't handle the truth or a little criticism. Grow a pair man, I was simply saying can the kid keep it on two wheels, because he's known not to. That's it.

He won the Horizon award this year at Loretta. Do you have such a short memory? Basically every single pro to ever win a 250 and 450 title has crashed his brains out during his first year. Nothing new. Now please move your obvious hatred for Bell to some other forum.

Who gives a crap about his results the last few races of the season. He is racing to get his feet wet in the pro ranks and see what he needs to do for next year. His body is trained for 20 minute motos not 30.. give him some time and he will be just fine. Just because he has been injured a few times before doesn't mean he always will be. Give the kid a break. Everyone is so hard on these amateur kids coming out and they already have enough pressure on them. The JS7 of the world doesnt' come out of Loretta's every year

Well ritard, I have a few points to make;

First of all, I know it's hard to comprehend but when I stated that this thread wasn't meant to be a personal attack I wasn't referring to you or any of the very intelligent and astute members of this distinguished forum. I was talking about ZB (see OP's most recent post).

Second of all, I appreciate the attack on Texas because I'm certainly not a Texan and I enjoy having a bag of witty responses for the morons down here; so thanks for that.
8/19/2012 7:47pm
I think some of you gumshoes get confused.

Pointing out that a rider frequently crashes is not always derogatory, it can simply be an accurate assessment of reality.

OP wasn't slamming Bell he was just asking a very simple question for the purpose of bench racing.

You internet fiends are so eager to hop into a debate to join a team and blindly defend your cause; it gets so freaking annoying especially when it's a situation like this.

like i said in each of my posts on this topic, JMO and glad you have yours, continue to read mine after my stint at Husky, also forgot some of my racing accomplishments, 4 ISDE gold medal, 1 silver, 1 bronze, AMA Sportsman of the Year, several podiums in the Baja 1000, 2nd Overall at the Acerbis Rally in Nevada on a Factory Honda. So yea I think I'm entitled to my opinion and like i said earlier, I'll be the first to butter up some bread for that crow sandwich and glad to see I brought out that sense of humour in you

Dont get me wrong, Martin did great yesterday for his first pro race. He will get alot better just like Bell. These kids already have the speed, now once they get fitness and some other pieces of the puzzle they will be just fine.

Geez dudes! Give the kid a break.

He has shown some great potential. The kid can't be more than 110 - 120lbs and as far as I can tell is doing a pretty good job riding that bike for someone that small.

He may be a young kid , but he has a lot of experience ( in the AM stuff ) along with his team. They'll get things figured out.

Sure he has had a couple crashes........but hell....he just got here! I don't understand some of the negative comments in this thread.

I thought we were supposed to support our new up and coming riders?.......not pick them apart. What's the deal?

Don't think its the crashing comments that has everyone so riled up but your opinion that he has no heart. I appreciate all your accomplishments with racing, but you honestly have no idea what its like to race now...at that speed in MX. (every week it gets faster and faster too)
Zach lines ups with the best 39 racers in the world, 1st week riding a bike he has tested, but never raced, holds the throttle WIDE open and pulls the holeshot. Last week at Unadilla his bike skipped sideways in front of everyone, but he never let off...if those 2 starts alone don't show heart then im confused where its coming from.
Anyway...lets just sit back and see how it all plays out. He took a bad crash last week. Hes a tough kid. My opinion is you will see him out front every week, just a matter of time till he's there at the checkers..

Bobby....you know I dig you.........but WTF are you talking about? It's been 30 friggin' years since you have been relevant in this sport. Mom up above has a boy that just got into racing the nationals this year.....and if anything has first hand experience of what it takes to get "her boy" into these races. I would say her knowledge on this particular subject surpasses yours by 10X. Christ man.........I didn't realize cleaning and fixing pools for a living gave you so much knowledge of this sport.

Again....i dig your opinions.....but this one seems to be way off and kind of uncalled for.

Anyway...lets just sit back and see how it all plays out. He took a bad crash last week. Hes a tough kid. My opinion is you will see him out front every week, just a matter of time till he's there at the checkers..

I don't know Zach from anyone, so I have no prior knowledge about his injuries or his subsequent comebacks. I just think some are being overly critical of a young rider. I mean he is 4 starts and 4 moto's in on his rookie debut. He has holeshot and led a couple of moto's. I seriously doubt we will ever see dominance like past champions did, perfect seasons are over. Zach is doing exactly what any aspiring youmg rider should do, jump in confident, see what race pace is like at this level, learn the tracks that most of these guys have ridden for several years.

got more mx experience than you'll ever have, worked at Husqvarna for 2 years (press relations mgr and mx team mgr with mickey dymond and danny laporte), developed the RMX and ran the off road racing team (7 years) with Randy Hawkins, Steve Hatch (7 natl enduro championships) raced (contract racer) for american honda and have tons of (started the Valli WORCS offroad team with Bobby Bonds, Kyle Summers and Bobby Garrison) offroad experience where a rider has nothing but heart to finish gnarly all day (not 30 mins + 2 laps) offroad events. From what I saw ( all 110 lbs) he doesn't seem to have the heart, wasn't too upset about crashing. Still stand behind my statement of proving he has heart, time will tell and oh yea...JMO!!
Charlie...Good to see you haven't lost your edge....Cheers
Back at you, hope alls good and that edge hasn't gone anywhere. My bud Bobby and I are entitled to our opinion and mine might be outta line, time will tell and I hope he proves me wrong.

btw, if you read my comments none of them said anything about him crashing!! Yea I physically haven't raced in awhile I'll give you that but as for knowing what its like to race now, I started the Valli MX national effort just a few years ago with Jimmy Albertson and Sean Hamblin. Assembled the bikes, parts, schedules etc and had to hire Kyle Regal after Sean got hurt @ Glen Helen. We ended up top 10 with Albee and Top Privateer with Kyle!! I currently am the team manager for EMT Racing with Kyle Summers who will be racing the west coast sx and mx nationals along with our priority series being WORCS. You say along with others he's a tough kid, time will tell. I based my comments on his Southwick performance and they didn't show the crash and it must of been a good one as my opinion was based on watching him cruise to the pit and I'm like, "dude, get back on the track for at least a top 5"!! Zigfelder's picked out some good ones and I'm hope he's right again...bottom line!!
