Carla was one of the baddest dudes to ever race MX. Stories of him are legendary! From him digging a hole and burying a works Yamaha during a testing session to him stopping to drink a beer during his last race! Carlqvist is a bad man!!

The stop and drink a beer in his last race story is awesome.
There's another good one where he dug a hole and threw his OW in it one day after testing, telling the engineers 'the bike is shit, and this is what we do with shit'

Check out that pancake pipe. And power valve.

The 83 OW suspension linkage- and I noticed this about the US works Yamahas as well - looks very similar to the production 86-88 design. Must have been better than the 83-85 production design that RJ/Glover et al had to race for 2 years.

He is a true hero of the sport! He dedicated al his life to mx racing and it did pay of with two world titels. one 250cc, one 500cc.
