Versus other bikes of that era or versus today? All that mattered when he was on the throttle is where the front wheel was pointed. The restvwould follow. watching him going up the hill at unadilla throttle pinned, rear end swapping was cool.

2nd place guy that didn't get lapped that day? David Bailey.
Never knew that. Where was that at? Hannah could twist the throttle.

I saw him put a beat down on the field at Binghampton right about that time frame. Magoo tried running us over that day also... his feet came off the pegs on a fast downhill toward a off camber turn... he missed the berm came all the way out to the fence as we scrambled out of lawn chairs just to have him gather it all up and shower us with dirt and rocks...lol.

In '81 I was given one of those trick welded works silencers & an unbreakable red frame...oh, & a dbl leading shoe frt break...white plastic (which they quickly told me: paint the frame black and give the white plastic back!)

Good times.

Good times.

My dad called it my "Hannah-Starter kit"...

Are you sure that was not 1978? I was on leave, and I was at that race at Saddleback, the Olypiad, or something. Hannah killed everybody in the cross country and the mx race, he had a rear flat in the TT/Flattrack event. He was on a YZ400E model, the 1978. I was a big fan in those days, I had a 77 YZ250 and an 80 YZ 465, I had the same helmet and jersey, as well. I met Bob on a flight out of Atlanta after the Daytona Supercross in the early 2000's, I think before 911, he was in first class, he's around my size, 5'9", now about 175lbs or so, back then, maybe 140-150, tops. He's also a pilot, and so am I, that's what we talked about most. He's actually pretty cool.......

HA HA HA HA HA ! ! ! ! !

I had the ones on the bottom left of the top layout of pants. They were a black/white base with multiple neon color "paint splotches" all over them. They velcroed near the middle leaving the "belt buckle" Vital logo in the middle.

I used to be so bitchin'! That, my friends, is how you bro!

Those boots were COOOOOL!

Crap to wear though. Never broke in one bit so you couldn't feel brake or shifter at all.

Good for Bob, big fail for the rest of the people that thought that Bob was the baddest ass ever.

Simple question here. How many fights do any of you have record of Bob Hannah being in?
Classic douche non sequitur. It and 99 cents will get you a Big Gulp down at 7-11.

I kinda read it like he could do what he wanted on the track cause he had everyone scared, even though he would maybe get his butt whipped off the track if someone like Tripes got peeved...

Like should KW have been scared of RC? Prolly not, KW is twice RC's size but RC had it over him pretty much forever....

It had nothing to do with whether one guy could whoop the other in a fist fight or whatever and it had everything to do with what would happen on the track. Bob didn't have anybody "buffaloed" he was in their heads because he was fit as hell and willing to hang it out at all cost while able to hang on to the bars 99% of the time and not there to be pals with anyone especially on the track. He was "The Intimidator" on two wheels.
