“At this point in time it doesn’t make sense to push it,” said Team Yoshimura Suzuki Manager, Mike Webb. “From a safety standpoint, for both James and the other riders, we just don’t want to take the chance. The injury is a little more than we thought and will simply require a bit more rehab. The plan is to stay off the bike for a couple weeks and then ride and test and come back strong for Southwick.”

CHINO, CA – Team Yoshimura Suzuki Racing’s James Stewart will unfortunately miss this weekend’s seventh round of the 2012 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at the Spring Creek National in Millville, MN. The multi-championship winning rider has not seen enough progress in the rehab from his recent injury to make sense to compete at this time.

“At this point in time it doesn’t make sense to push it,” said Team Yoshimura Suzuki Manager, Mike Webb. “From a safety standpoint, for both James and the other riders, we just don’t want to take the chance. The injury is a little more than we thought and will simply require a bit more rehab. The plan is to stay off the bike for a couple weeks and then ride and test and come back strong for Southwick.”

Stewart was injured during the beginning of the first moto at the Lakewood, CO round back in the beginning of June. The Yoshimura Suzuki rider has collected two overall victories with four moto wins and a third-place overall thus far this season.

Too bad Stewart didn't back it down a notch when he headed into that muddy rutted turn. Could have been a great season. Would have liked to have seen Dungey get to the point where he had to push.

This must be troubling, Stewart has now tried twice to race with a good lengthy rest after the first attempt and his wrist has not been able to hold up to the stress. I do not remember, is this the same wrist that he broke when he jumped under Partridge in 2010? Could this be headed toward another Rick Johnson situation where the wrist will never be right again?

Stewart just can't take getting beat, he can't accept second place. This isn't the biggest suprise to be honest. If he gets beat he usually does this. In one way it is admirable in another it is frustrating.

all to hope for now is when TC, RV, CR get back in the mix..................

even if he is "hurt" giving Dungey more time and more confidence is still going to make it tough to do what he did the fIrst few races.......

Dungey and the bike are both significantly better and more dialed in now and Bubba had his hands full then.............

just hope none of the preseason shit happens to anyone before A1!!!

Well I hope downsouth is not correct that it maybe a Johnson style injury.

Suzuki is probably happy they aren't paying him yet......lol I hope he has that contract for next year signed with them or they may back out.......(sarcasm)

I was at Gatorback and watched Danny Storbeck land on RJ, and was very bummed when he was never the same rider after breaking his navicular bone in his wrist. It is a little concerning that it's the same wrist and injury that continues to keep Stewart off the track. Hopefully it's just a coincidence.

When RJ did that...medicine was a tad more on the (how do you say) "primitive" side? Technology has come a LONG ways since then...I don't think it's as "threatening" of an injury as it used to be.

The guy is not fully healed, but he has won races this year, and he will return when he´s wrist is 100%. Also, the guy rides for free this summer, so please don´t give him a hard time. I´m happy to see him try, and I really like how he conducts himself in interviews. He seems like a more mature person than ever!

True. I do remember an interview where Stewart said the doctor butchered it though. I think the navicular is a tricky one because it gets no blood. It is just odd that it is always the same injury.

I broke the navicular in my left wrist after being landed on. After the ER DR. failed to see the break, a so-so doc tried giving it time and it did not heal. I went to a hand specialist who immediately did surgery. They opened up my arm and took a piece of bone with an artery to it and grafted into the navicular. All told, six months out, but it feels great and has never been an issue.

Here is to a full return by Stewart.

If this was 100% his decision to not race the next 2 rounds, with no outside influence of his team, I'm a little disappointed as a fan. He just tweeted a picture of himself lifting weights with his dog yesterday! I can somewhat admire not wanting to return until he's 100%, but that wasn't the impression I got from his interviews at Redbud.

And this is the time his camp goes silent and nobody will hear anything.....something isn't right but I'm not sure it's the wrist as he said repeatedly that his wrist was 100% And didn't bother him
that video sure sounded that he and everyone in his camp fully expected to pick up where he left off...bottom line he got beat badly.
Isn't this the same thing we saw in SX....if I'm not competive I'm not going to race.
