My favorite part about helmet cam videos is the way everyone gets to go over it like the Zapruder film to pick apart and analyze a decision that was made in the blink of an eye in conjunction with other high speed objects.

Armchair quarterbacking at it's finest.

Glad nobody was hurt.
Not really applicable here. This is day one stuff, BRO. I had the exact same shit happen to me the other day in Colorado. Some goober hopped on in front of me, then when I went to go around him he pulled off the track. I hit the deck, broke my helmet and rang my bell. There shouldn't have been any "decision that was made in the blink of an eye"; hold your line when people are coming around you. It's not as hard as it sounds.

I think Mr Archer just made a simple mistake. It happens in this sport.....believe me I know from experience hehe. I think from watching his helmet cam , he looked like he was going pretty good and had great corner speed. I could see him getting on the 40 man gate for sure . The thing with regal......just a small brain fart.....shit happens and everyone came out ok.

Some people read to much into things like this.

Archer grew up at Budds Creek. He flies there. I think he can handle a few ruts.
Yes Tony grew up at Budds and can probably ride that track blindfolded. Glad everyone is ok from that crash, not sure what Tony was thinking.

Also cool my buddy Nick Lane got to ride press day for his first National. He said track was super deep and hasn't been that deep since Des Nations. Should be a good one on Saturday.....

A lot of us look at the what if. The what if was pretty big. If Regal gets hurt then it is HUGE

Press day? Looked like free practice. I didn't know they could just spin off laps on press day. Doesn't seem fair to those that are not invited to "press day".

I'm not gonna lie. Wasn't my smartest decision ever. When I looked back it looked like he was headed for the main line. So I got out of it. No big deal no one was hurt. Everyone over at JGR was teasing me about it a bit today but everyone understood how it happened and had no problems.

"I thought you were going to go to the left"

Rider drifts to the left into oncoming traffic, which he looked back and saw seconds before. Ha, Regal looked ILL - glad everyone was ok!

Ditto above, glad you're OK. If I were out there I'd have been easing around the far outside edge of the track in first.

Ezra Lusk used to ride at a local practice track here, and it was ridiculous how much faster he was than the local hotshots. Most of us pulled off just to watch.

Ah yes, the classic yet way over used response of "I presume you could qualify". Truth be told, I could not qualify but it looks like he may not either. The difference is that I have never had brain fade so bad that I endangered another rider in the manner in which he did. Do I win something for that? I know some true beginners who have not done that. What he did in that video was not "going for it", he wasn't riding over his head and he wasn't even on the gas. In fact, I bet I could ride just as fast as he was going when he cut over. Dare I say I could probably have passed him at that moment which is what makes his mistake even worse. He had nothing else to think about and still made the worst decision possible.

Glad no one was hurt.
He looked over and thought Regal was going to use to the main line, mistakes happen. You sound like a shithead.

wish i had a dollar for every time that has happened to me riding at a local track.

i wouldn't have very much money, but probably enough to buy a 30 case of PBR and some Parmesan Oregano wings.

hell, i usually don't even look around before i start moving over.

My comment on your vid came out a bit shitty there. You are clearly very quick and hope you enjoy the big show tomorrow.
Go fast and stay on.

Actually, "shithead" is looking back and guessing where the faster guy is going. "level head" would be to stay where you are at and let him go around you.

What's worse than this kids split second incorrect decision is you "shitheads" defending it. He gets some leeway since he had to make the decision in a split second. You have had plenty of time to watch the video and see the result yet you are still trying to defend it. Kind of ironic that you think I sound like a shithead.

Yeah i will. And for everyone wondering about why the bike sounds a little crappy its because it was my practice silencer on the bike for press day. It was pretty much out of packing. Tom at DEP pipes does an awesome job and has all of my race silencers for the weekend

A mistake.

An Accident.

A rider goes back to check on a fallen rider.

A rider apologies for his belief that he caused the accident.

They go back to their busniess...the Business of...Racing!

2 young-men making me proud of my sport.

Local pro Tony Archer ran my helmet cam at Budds Creek for press day and did a bunch of laps on the national track. But a crazy incident happen when he got together with Kyle Regal on a blind section of the track. Check it out toward the end of the video:

I heard that little yell over the Big Gulp. It looked a little scary. Maybe he thought he was going to overjump it.

Helmet cam does no justice to the steepness of those hills. Budds really is a gnarly track. One of the best.

That's the first helmet cam footage I've seen of Budd's. Where he yells over the Big Gulp triple at 1:00, RV was quading that on his pc250, it looked big on TV but good god, that left in the landing would be seriously sketchy if you quadded that thing.

Quadding it all the way into the turn? Are you sure? I've never seen anyone do that.

Same its pretty much impossible to quad that. I don't know which vid he watched where RV busted out a quad.

Regal should have been pissed, he was cruising around in the MIDDLE of the track looking around like the lapper he is. That could have been a lot worse. Hopefully that dude learned a lesson on that one.

Tony wasn't racing, just taking advantage of press day. So idling around prolly happened a lot by all the rider on the track. Hope Kyle isn't hurt and does well, all you regal fans got me believing the hype. Disappointed so far

Ya, "that dude" is actually man enough to be posting in this thread you just added absolutely nothing to. It's always cool when guys like you cruise in, don't bother reading other peoples posts and just go ahead and post what has already been said by many much smarter people before you.

The lesson he learned is that some guys fly around the track on Press Day like it's the first lap of a National moto #1.
