That half empty gate didn't look to good on the big screen. They should fill the other half with 125's. Can I get a "hell yea"?

Then it would be a 8 round WMA and 8 round 125 National Championship. Win Win.

chris is right, as much as I want to support the WMX. Even Ashley is a mid back B racer at washougal at a local race. Fast for a girl dont get me wrong, but to line pro licens pros up with them...xgames endurocross all over again

the WMA will come around eventually. This has always been billed as a family sport. I want them to keep hanging in there and keep them rolling...but, I'd like to see the 2 stroke 125 class when the women aren't running.

WMA increases interest among a relatively untapped demographic. Providing girls with MX role models and something to shoot for will not only allow the series to grow, but motocross as a whole to grow. It is important to nurture the series as it has the potential to affect bike sales, gear sales, aftermarket parts, etc etc. It needs to be treated seriously even during it's "growing pains".

If you want to see local fast guys race, go to a local race.

Everywhere it's the same it seams. Women's racing cannot compete with the men's. Comparing them is unfair. The difference is huge. They may be battling, but one of the most appealing parts of a pro race is the speed the guys go. Keep them, but I won't be the only one not watching it. I don't pay to get bored.

Southwick is a place where locals shine. Everywhere else? Not so much.

Newmann, I think that was the smallest field so far this year in the women's races. After they got back from the parade lap, I was wondering, "Where are the rest of them?"

Good point. Women's basketball, women's softball, even women's golf plays second fiddle or worse to any "Mens" events. Just the facts. Nobody, at least in numbers, would pay to see women race.

Gymnastics is an exeption. Women are doing routines and disciplines that are for them specifically. They don't compete with men doing balance beam and such, so in that case, women's gymnastics stands on its own merits.

Women's MX, in large, does not.

DC did say he had some experimental ideas for this season. Of course we haven;t heard mention of any of that since last year . Hard to plan and put something together with only a weeks notice.

You can't find results for the WMA in the results page and haven't for several races. Sounds like its their way of paying the ladies back when the switched from 1 moto to 2 motos last fall.

I know there's a lot more girls racing nowadays, whether we all like it or not, but who's to say that their interests were sparked by Ashley Fiolek or Jessica Patterson? They all have that "we want to beat the guys" mentality anyway, and as annoying as it can be at times, I don't really think they get that mindset because of the WMX class. Just my opinion and observations.

I like the WMX class and I don't like the WMX class. I think it's a cool opportunity, and the most effective way to get exposure to their class. But I don't like it because they are a lot slower than the guys. Not only is it less fun to watch, but it makes them look less talented in comparison, which I don't think is all that good for them if they are trying to be taken seriously by fans and sponsors. It's a nice gesture, but giving quality rides to chicks who would have no shot at making the fast 40, seems unfair to someone who could.

Now having said that, factories put riders on their bikes to increase sales, and putting a local pro who will finish 27th will do nothing to boost sales numbers. Having likeable girls on the bikes could, possibly.

I was at the track and really enjoyed the womens race yesterday. I also seen others that was enjoying it as well. Jessica Patterson rides like a dude and was clearly faster than the bunch but I enjoyed seeing my favorite 2 riders do well Tarah Gieger and Sayaka Kaneshiro.

Women do not possess testosterone levels that allow them to develop the same levels of muscular strength and aggression as males. I read a study that found the times/speeds/distances of world class female track and field athletes to be almost identical to those of pre-adolescent male track and field athletes. But after puberty and testosterone kick in, the males check out and never look back.

I do understand the reasons for including the women's program in the Nationals though.

I was also at the race. It was not boring at all: first moto JP went down in the first turn worked her way through the pack to second just a few feet short of first at the finish second moto first and second place (JP and TG)came together in a turn and both crashed right in front of me was exciting to see them both get up and going again while being passed by others.
