Do you have a pic of that DG air scoup they sold for a short time before the water cooled bikes? I had one on my 1980 YZ125 and never took a picture of it installed...

Yep, I remember that add. DG racing was kinda the Pro Circuit of the late 70's/early 80's.

If you had ANYTHING that was DG on you're bike back then you were looked at like a factory rider in my neighborhood

I had one of those yellow plastic air scoops never taken out of the bag in my attic for years. I looked for it not too long ago but can't find it. Be kind of cool to find.

Yep, had all the cool DG stuff on my '74 KX125. Had the radial head, pipe, and swingarm. The Terry Kit in the forks and the aluminum bodied Konis didn't help that thing either. Even with all the cool stuff, I was slow and the bike stunk, but hey, it was great racing in the '70s!

As a kid , I was all about the stickers. Always wanted DG BMX bike, never got one. Always wanted a DG radial head, pipe, carb and port job, never got that either. Always wanted a DG aluminum swingarm.....30 years later my collection of DG stuff is piling up. Shits uber expensive these days!!

Yeah, that's Gassin' Gaylon's autograph on the DG decal from the Houston SX 1978. Chuck Sun on the Husky and Ken Zahrt on the Canned Ham decal from the same event.

Wow, that is a blast from the past. That was my favorite ad and bike. Had it on my wall as a kid. Plus had the DG pipe and Gold fin head on my 79 YZ80.

Thanks for posting that. Very cool!!!

They had another ad like that with an RM80 that I drooled over as a kid.

Any chance you have a copy of that one hiding somewhere?

Derrim Porter's, dad was the agent for DG, his bike was awsome!
I was 16, back then all i could afford was the DG radial finned head and big DG stickers on my tank,
Those were the days!

I had a copy of a mag with that ad when I traveled at 12 years old from the US to Kenya, in Africa, when my Dad got restationed in 1979 or 80. I stared at the ad the whole trip (this is before you had gadgets in your hand 24-7, obviously). That pic epitomized my desire to ride and race.
We had a layover in Paris and my Dad got mad that I was in Paris and reading a moto mag. He asked if I would rather go to the Eiffel Tower or the Suzuki shop (guess which I chose). Kind of feel stupid about that now. He took me to the bike shop, and he doesn't even like bikes. I wanted to see the Euro versions of the mx bikes.

When I got to Nairobi I ended up racing locally on a 1980 RM80, bone stock. I got to my first race and a kid showed up with a full DG works bike YZ80, including the gold monoshock swing arm, gold head, the whole bit. I was intimidated as hell but ended up trophying my first race with a 4th. And that photo was probably why LMAO.

That's me at Corona Raceway 1980. I am pretty sure Steve Bauer is behind me somewhere.

Great photos and adds as usual. I'd like to see some features on some of the top modded 85s come LL time.
