Finally saved up some money and looking at maybe getting a 12' ktm150sx! Wondered if anyone has had them or rode similar year ones? Are they reliable? I have a 2010 crf250 but just want a 2 stroke to mess around on. Looked at some used 2 strokes in the area and everything's beat or a little more used than id like. I'm new to vital but any help would be aprreciated! Also I'm 19, 5' 10" , 140-145lbs..I'm a decent C rider but havent raced much lately so the bike would just be for fun.

I just got a '12 last week so I can't say anything for reliability but I love the bike! I would also like to see what people say about it.

Have a new 125 myself and love it, so do my friends who ride 450s etc. But as for the 150 not read a bad comment about them, only good ones about how much fun they are. I think you will love it.

I am thinking the same thing but over here the KTM is the same price as the TM 250 MX with the 300 being only a couple hundred more

Are they hard to find this late in the year? And what are people paying for them?

That's how KTM routes them. The Jap bikes route the throttle cable in front of the front number plate.

I see I'm not the only one in HB that loves the RM250 ...... I hear the KTM's are cool and would like to get one BUT my RM's are so butter I don't know if it can get any better, especially once I get a revalve on the suspension. I need to start poking around and find some stock springs from a 07 and up RMZ450 that someone has laying around they are the perfect spring rates for my 2 strokes. Got one of them done w just the springs and it made a world of difference now I just need to hook up the other RM I recently picked up and set it up exactly as the other 06. I rode an 07 and loved it as well, they are mighty fine machines and timelessly great bikes. I believe they will be relevant as a competent mx bike for a long long time.

BTW sorry if I hijacked the thread

I have a 12 150sx with four rides on it, less than 2 hours total of ride time. I bought 6 new ktm's for the family and love all of them, but I love my 250sx more. I weigh 230lbs, It was bought from lesko in Kansas and ran perfect at the shop. When I busted it out in Ocotillo it was flat down low, and I mean FLAT !! I didnt want to mess with jetting out in the dez so I rode my 250 the whole time. I just started it yesterday and it ran great around the shop, but it is still too fat down low for minnesota and needs to be rejetted to get the low end grunt back it had at leskos. I of course have all receipts for it and paid like 6 something. I'd let it go for the right price. Lets talk,

I sadly had to sell my full Pro circuit RM 250... I was in love with that thing, best bike ever, young kid bought it from Victoria for a steal at 11,500 bucks... He sent me a photo whipping it and said he is so pumped on it..

This is off OP's topic B DUB, but the stock jetting on the SX leaves a lot to be desired. Get yourself a Suzuki NECJ needle (ten bucks, part no. 13383-37FEO) and run it in clip #4, a 40 pilot, 160 main if you're running pump gas. If you're using race gas use clip #3. You will not believe the difference this jetting makes for this bike, smooth and clean bottom to top.

Only thing I dont lik about the '12s is the black tank. translucent tank looks better and you can see whats in it. imo

I have a '12 150, I like it a lot except for the black tank that you can't tell how much gas is in it and the air box design lets a lot of dirt in. Even if a track is perfectly moist, you need to change the filter every ride it gets so dirty. This weekend I hole shot a bunch of 450's on it in a vet class...

I got a question for ya if you don't mind. I will be getting a pretty decent signing bonus at my new job and am thinking about buying a couple of these jewels here. How much did you get it for, if you don't mind. OTD price would be great info but if you would rather not disclose that then that's okay as well.

I would say if you can get it for $5,700-$6,000 it would be a decent price (before tax). I would contact the poster above that has the one with a couple of hours, you would most likely save around $1k off MSRP doing that.

Does that needle make that much of a difference that you can run a 160 main? I ride a lot of sand, but right now with the stock needle I'm running a 190 main. Now that it's getting a little warmer I'm probably going to go back to a 185 and see what the plug looks like, but I think a 160 would be way lean.

KTMs use massive mains. I run a 192 in my 125sx. You have to find someone with a modded 500 to borrow jets from if you ever need one at the track. the japanese 250s use 168s or so.

try setting the float tang just a tad leaner than what the manual says. works wonders. or just call Chip Munn. That guy can jet a KTM over the phone.

I've heard something similar with the Suzuki needle for the 250s as well. I would love to give it a try it in mine if this is right!

192 a massive main? My 150 would die with a 192 from being so lean. We run a 210 and on my 08 we ran a 220.

I was going to say the same thing regarding my '08 144SX, but I do believe they are now running a smaller carb on them than were then, which would explain the difference in jetting.
