Its not just Mike, everyone else out there knows they cant beat those 2 guys. Thats why we need Barcia and a few of the 250 guys to move up. The current field has been getting beat by those other guys for too long. RD, JS are in way better shape than Mike is. So unless they crash or have a DNF, I don't see Mike winning a moto. I wasn't too impressed after watching him at Hangtown. And I like Mikey!

I am really impressed with Mike.
Ever since he got OFF the ktm 350 and back on the RMZ450, he has been a different rider, and he actually seems to be getting better and better.
Will he straight up run down Stewart and Dungey for the win? no, but if he gets the holeshot, and Stewart and Dungey have some issues, he could get far out enough to pull off a win.

Right now, I, expecting him to end up 3rd in the Championship. Which is amazing. Keep it up Mike!!
He rode the 450 his last year on ktm einstein

No, Kyle Regal is.

He does if he quits looking back and gets comfortable changing lines while up front. I've seen him just stick to the same lines and keep getting passed like he doesn't get it. Boy needs to go searching like Baggett.

No, Bizarro Mike LaRocco™ will not win a race ever again in my opinion, he might have a better chance if he got on another factory team, but I don't see that happening again. There are just too many fast guys out there. If 7-3 is the best he can do at Hangtown than I don't see him doing much better than that anywhere else based on history.

Mike is one of the worlds best riders and on any given day has the ability to win any race. He needs to believe in himself. He has when comfortable before ran up front challenging the fastest riders up front.

He has a couple of issues that I can see from the tv screen.

1. He never races forward and is always thinking that he will be caught and passed by quicker riders. Hence looking back and not taking smart lines when a rider puts him under pressure. Sometimes Mike needs to let riders past I think and study some different lines to find out where he is loosing time.

2. He has to try and ride clean, hard and not put a target on his back. He has before and again at hangtown took a few very weird lines and cutting across riders. I am not saying he was dirty but sometimes a little dangerous. Which mentally must make him think that riders will naturally have it in for him.

3. Pressure. I know Tony is his biggest fan but having your father over you knowing deep inside that he is supposed to be wining races will always be in the back of Mikes mind. This is one moto relationship that needs to separate and allow Mike some breathing room and room to grow.

I agree with number 2. He went REALLY far out of his way to get in other people's way. I understand defending the inside and trying to keep someone behind you, but I think he took it a bit too far. Especially when he cross jumped James like he did.

He said they're the best in tbe world and he was pretty happy to get 3rd to dungey and stewart. I say poppycock and he can beat those guys and win a few. I haven't seen the lap times but it appeared that mike gap'd those guys a bit during the opening laps of the 2nd moto. Moto is mental...fix mental and fix moto i say. Easy to say...hard to do.
Your a FAGGOT and Alessi wont win anything.

I think perhaps he may have some mental baggage that precludes rotating his right wrist as far as he need to after all his injuries. I wouldn't blame him and just because Mr. Crash himself can deal with it doesn't mean everyone can.

HA!....Geez I guess Bobby must of pissed in the guys corn flakes one morning or something?

Alessi......He may be able to squeak out a moto win here or there , but it won't be due to his sheer speed....it will rely on guys like Stewart and RD and if they have issues at the gate.

Honestly Hangtown was his best shot at a podium and he made it happen....so I'm happy for the guy. But in all seriousness , he needs to focus on top 5's and other riders fighting for those spots.....JS and RD are in a whole different league and the gap is going to do nothing but get bigger through the season.

If he is going to win one this is the year as next year has fast kids moving up and hopefully all the others are not hurt.

X2
It'd be others' misfortune that might see him win one and now there's no Glen Helen,Hangtown may well be the place he'd do best,he had a win on the 350 there and a 2nd overall before going 4-1

He definitely has the speed and starts to lead a few laps. I bet he gets a moto win or two this summer.

"does alessi have the speed to win a few?"

Answering just the question, and after only one race... the answer has to be no.

After looking at "Sign of the lap times: Hangtown", seems his only hope will be misfortune for James and Ryan.

His best lap and average lap time, both moto's, are to far off the pace.

Let's hope he does, let's see a battle royale. Bobby, couldn't agree with you more on the confidence issue. Confidence breeds success, success breeds confidence. James standing atop the rostrum this weekend is a prime example. It's back in his head that he can win.

If he is smart, he will continue to ride like he did at hangtown (fast but consistent). It is a long season and if he stays injury-free (easy to say, difficult to do). He has good speed but js and rd have supersonic speed. Either (or both) of them could wind up on their head though.

Don't forget that as and bm and dm all looked pretty damn fast too. Smile

One thing ma DOES have that none of those guys do, is a fugly ass bike. Black, red, yellow, white.....all mish-mashed. Not a good looking bike. (Disclaimer: I am not saying the BIKE is not good.....just fugly).
