Bummer, sorry to hear that. Hope it's not too bad.
Mexico......sketchy place to host a race. However, you showed up, get on the line. 90 degrees??? How many AMA nats have exceeded 90? Dusty??? Pictures have already disproved that.
Again, no way in hell am I choosing that place for an international race, but the time to put the kabosh to the race was months ago. Seems like a real dick move, and kinda takin a shit on Seb and all his hard work to just boycott rather than come to him to resolve the issues and just get through the race.

Yes its wet in places, but it looks fun and quite challenging to me.

They over watered it because the riders were complaining about the dust!

You know, you guys are spoilt with slick super professional. highly evolved US moto...you want to knock these guys attempting to open new countires to professional mx? Get off your asses and give it a try..nah, you're all too comfy in your couch to have a clue, so let rip with the put downs. Who needs gangsters and mafia to hurt these guys when they have the moto community to put the hurt on.

I really dont see anything wrong with the track. Looks challenging and fun. They are just spoiled and used to run highways for tracks! The coverage on the other hand....its the worst I have seen!

I think they use an outside company for the fly away GPs. This is pretty poor.

1 of the first races on mx-life was a disaster but it's been almost flawless since then. Never been as bad as now tough. :/

Wel atleast i got sound now, but the intervieuws and shit are still w/o sound.....
I hear a mix of the commentator, 4strokes and a tiny bit of the intervieuw mixed all togeather.

edit: This board realy lacks some good coding. I can't make decent multi-quoted posts without it bugging out. Sad

The drug cartels are not gangstas. They are serious paramilitary groups that control certain territory as if it was their own country, and they are not the slightes bit interested in what's "good for the economy". They are Mafioso without typical Mafioso restraint toward civlians, who rule by terror.

As far as the track goes, IMO you can build a good track if it has good terrain but bad dirt, or you can build a good track if it has good dirt but bad terrain; but you can't build a good track with bad dirt and bad terrain. Lake Elsinore should make a note of that.

I obviously don't know enough about the bad elements there, I was just thinking this wouldn't take place without their consent, and despite their lack of moral, I just think they prefer ruling over something than nothing, and this means more something, and more money comes in which will end up in their pockets as well?

Or you think my thinking is totally off here?

Just from what I hear when I'm down there on the border, the drug cartels are interested only in total control of their territory, and while they may not respond against an event that paid them off, the amounts of money that they consider "real money" would stagger the mind. They wouldn't go out of their way for even a $100K bribe.

They might lay low since this is going to be a one-time deal that's here today and gone tomorrow, but there might be more bodies found, too. Those guys aren't fooling around. They're serious psychopathic killers who control tremendous amounts of money and power.
That's some pretty sad info and a bit hard to grasp for someone used to a very safe society.... Right now (it doesn't get much worse than this) I'm processing/overcoming that some punk made one of my cars his personal treadmill 2 am last night...

I say we cut the entire country of Mexico some slack. They have their problems but I don't think we completely understand what is going on at the GP at this point.

I live in El Paso on the border and feel safe but you can't compare what's happening in Mexico to what happens here.

I pray none of those guys go to the local hospitals.
Of course, the cartel stuff can't even be compared to the US. But I never compared murders or other violent crimes.

In the context of holding an MXGP, I'm not sure Mexico's drug cartel problem is all that releveant at all. How many of the 11 to 15 decapitad bodies were those of foreign citizens (not counting mafiosos from central and south america)? Mexico has hosted a slew of major events (Red Bull X-Fighters, huge concerts, etc). I think it is completely unfair to bring up the drug cartels and associated crimes in the context of the Mexican Motocross Grand Prix of 2012 and rider boycott.

Drawing a comparison to motorcycle theft in the USA has merrit because it is related to hosting a major motorcycle event. Apples to apples. Again, if you re-read my post, you will see that I never mentioned murder rates, violent crime or the mafia. I'm not saying the US is as dangerous as Mexico. I never said that!!! But shit does get stolen at the races, both in the USA and in Mexico.

By all accounts, if the track had been well prepped, the GP would have run its course and you wouldn't be on here educating us about how bad Mexico is.

For the record, I have been to Mexico several times, and not just the beach resorts.

Well, the cartel stuff was brought up because of some shooting and body-dropping happening on the main road right by the track (on the context of persistent, multiple-murder activities in the country, including the GP area).

Overall, sounds like fairly legit reasons.

About the track conditions, it needs to be said that apparently, the riders' intentions were more to make their voice heard yesterday about the dust than strike for the actual races, if action was taken about the dust, which seems like it was handled right.

IMO, he's a cancer on the sport and I would never go to any race that he is running, including the specific nationals that he is apparently co-managing with DC.

It would sure be interesting to know what Roger Decoster would have to say about all this.

I can remember seeing pictures of him going down to Central/South Aerica back in the early 70's to run in some races for a Suzuki importer.

Tents?......Haha....pansies

Decoster was shown trying to relax in between motos in a freaking CAGE with people mobbed around the outside to get a glimpse of the man.

OMG...and no TWITTER or Facebook either.....

I remember that magazine! They 'watered' the track with burnt motor oil or something like that. David Bailey finished second on the Bultaco. Roger won with a flat tire.
