Is this true? 2 stroke motocross is reporting that he's going to be racing his own yz250 at hangtown!

that is a great Idea! Now he can be even less relevant than he would have been on a 450.

Not mad at all. I just think if Chris wants to race he should be trying to get people to look at his skills on a 450 not some bike no one wants to ride.

And if he just announced he was riding a 450 at Hangtown nobody would have noticed or written a thing about it. Riding a 2 stroke will get you attention these days!

A bike no one wants to ride? Or a bike that the AMA , FIM, the Japanese OEM's, Feld and MX Sports don't want you to ride? DC's said it plenty of times that the OEM's don't want it and he's not in a position to tell them to go f' themselves. I don't think it has dick shit to do with the general public judging from the poll questions posed for 2 strokes and 4 strokes here on Vital a month ago. Maybe you didn't see that.

A poll from vitalmx is not an accurate cross section of riders most people on Vital are either stuck in an MX time warp or they can't afford modern equipment and that effects their judgement. I know plenty of people that HATE 2 strokes. For me personally I would never want to ride a 2 stroke again. I like the power delivery and the ease of riding from the 4 stroke. I can't IMAGINE riding a new fule injected 450 and saying you would rather work twice as hard to go slower on a 125? Are 125's fun? Hell yeah!

I loved the 2-stroke and I was one of the last to convert but the fact is that time is past and I would NEVER want to go back.

The other thing is if you love it ride it! It's truly that simple ride what you want. For me it's a 4 stroke for others it could be a fat girl. Whatever works.

I know you are passionate about the 2t and I have heard that your collection is awesome. I mean no disrespect I just wish to point out that if people want to ride a 2t they can. There is a reason they don't.

Look how much attention it got Cedric Soubeyras while he was riding and winning. He was good on it too. KTM got mad of his succes and attention and persuaded him to ride the 350. He hasn't been heard of again.

I'm sure the members here on Vital reflect the same views as on most any other moto forum(well, maybe not THUMPERtalk...lol). Double displacement rules allowed the 4 strokes to become what they are today. Even it out and throw a little R&D back at the neglected twos and it would be a different story. But I'm not dumb enough to think that will actually happen. Too many powers that be working against it.....
5/11/2012 8:27am
if the displacement was equal or even semi equal from the start, there would be only boutique brands doing 4 strokes and maybe honda

There were a couple guys on them trying to qualify last year.

On that poll, I thought it simply asked "who likes two strokes?" Who doesn't? That's hardly a poll about anything.

Yeah, but when the same question was asked about fours, no one even bothered to respond. Guess that just adds to that "lazy factor" the four strokes bring on. Laughing Tongue

I'm not expecting big things out of anyone bringing a knife to a gunfight, but it does warm the heart to hear the braaaapage on the track.

oooppss... quoted the wrong post.... my bad.

Most of the top 10 pros in the AMA Enduro series switched to the smokers about half way through the season.... Once they realized the 450 is NO MATCH for the 300cc smokers in the woods. MX is one thing but the offroad community definately see the the advantage a smoker has!

All that tells me is that the four stroke folks aren't bothered by the state of affairs, and that you've been successful getting the people that care about two strokes to respond like pavlov's dogs. Self selecting polling is BS and you're smart enough to know it and to know how dumb it is to rely on that to prove that two strokes are more popular than four strokes. Unless this is purely propaganda. Carry on.

What did you ever decide to do for a tank on your CR250? I'm painting a couple 79 tanks in the next few weeks if you want to throw one in the mix.

"Look how much attention it got Cedric Soubeyras while he was riding and winning"

I know you are strangely obsessed with Cedric Soubeyras and front fender shapes, but CS is still very successful at European supercross and received no more or no less attention riding the 2 stroke.

If you truly believe this you are more delusional that I had previously thought, which is almost impossible.

You my friend are a tool. Just an FYI I am not part of the Taliban either. This will could actually make him more relevant than if he was on a 450 running around 10th to 15th.

I've seen it already, duh. Whatever, let's all get on a bandwagon again to show how stupid and full of crap all the 2-strokers are. I mean, there's not that much going on at Vial today, so let's just get in to some kind of stupid rant at how 4s are soooooo superior to the rest of the world, and how they are soooooooo wonderful to the sport and so on and so forth. Let's come up with all the arguments to say, "I don't care what you say, we are against you, regardless, because we wish you and you're lower existence didn't exist. Just go and die already."

Yeah your right riding a two stroke for an event has gotten Ryan Smith, Ricky Renner and the rest factory rides. Oops my bad.

It gets attention it doesn't get results! Tyler Evans got attention and not results look where he is today.

It's great that Chris is riding but if he wants to show how he can finish on a good bike he should be riding one.

Tyler Evens? How long has it been since this guy raced competitively in Pro MX and SX? Plus a very mentally stable person to boot. Good example. Plus, Im sure Chris Blose is only riding the 2-stroke to get attention. Whistling

Aside from all the warfare, wouldn;t it be nice if he could run that baby as a 280 or plain old 300...and have a privateers chance of a goodpoints score.

I think you missed my meaning on the first post. Chris was on Pulp recently and I think he is looking for an outdoor ride. Riding the 2 stroke will get plenty of attantion from fans but it won't really prove much to a prospective team. You never know though if he for some reason has a great ride then he can point out that he had a great day while down on HP.

I like Chris don't know him personally but he seems like a tough rider that works hard.
