James Stewaron won 2 national titles on a 125 against 250Fs. Are we considering the 125 a viable option?

If you don't think it's hard for Carioli to ride as fast as he does, you're kidding yourself. No win is a cake walk. See my other post about Carioli above.

No race is ever easy no matter what you ride. I am not saying that the 350 is the ultimate motocross bike but it is obvious that with the right rider, the bike is a viable option!

I'm a huge 350 supporter, but I'm honest too. IMO, the outdoors with the speed, hills & sand are about the only place where riders go WOT @ times on a 450. Obviously the 450 does have more power & if you only use it a few seconds per lap, that's still an advantage. Because of the FIM Rules, the 350 will not prove itself outdoors, till it does it in the USA. I definitely think it's possible for the 350 to win outdoors with the right rider, but it's not for everyone.
Yeah i agree with you there but look back to the last MXON in america and AC was on the 350, he didnt win but neither did he loose by a far distance,

i think it might just suits different riders and there styles personally, maybe thats why alessi and short didnt do so well on them? But yeah i think it is a good bike, personally i think its great they made a 350 because for the 250 riders who are not to confident about moving up to the 450 its like a step at a time Smile

Well it may be in the future because he certainly not doing it now. He he had a hard time with Tomac last year and could not beat Barcia this year unless Barcia was taken out by another rider.

Lets see how well he does in outdoors before we start predicting the future.

Has he won a championship on one.? No

Look, RV hole shot the MXON on a 250f and he won both of his motos. Does that mean the 250f is the best motorcycle just because RV holeshot and beat 450 riders on it. No. We know that if a 250 can do it on occasions, then certainly a 450 but we also know on some track the 250f had an advantage. Even in the 2 stroke days, there were sometimes when the 125s had faster lap times, But that does not mean it is a superiour motorcycle.

Short had a hard time on the 350, He went from Mr. Holeshot to Mr holeshot not. Now that he is back on a 450 he is Mr holeshot again and now is doing well again., Roczen could not beat him on the 350 and again I see a pattern. So while the 350 may have strength on some tracks, in places like Thundervalley it is not.

I'm glad to see you that take post dead serious.

Let's see how well he does in the next 2-3 years, when he's the same age as the current top lites riders. Wink

Great comparison, when you rule out the old 4stroke technology from back then it actually makes a little bit sense...

Eli Tomac wasn't allowed to ride AMA pro when he was as young as Roczen because of the rules. As with all athletes. Either Roczen will rock or not. But first we were told, that Roczen was the fastest guy on the planet and he was the youngest. And Musquin was even better being a 2 time world champ. They come and play SX over here 2 years and we find out they are dominant. But what does it say? It says that Euro racers are not as good because Muskin and Roczen blow the Euros away but when they come to America, they are top five in a 250 class where the talent is split into east and west. This may be due to neither of them is great at SX. Now you are asking lets wait 2-3 years. Ok, lets wait. And if either wins an AMAoutdoor champiionship great. But the pressure is on both of them. They are world champs. They are expected to dominate. If they don't, then that Euro riders are not as fast as Americans.

We will just have to wait and see how they do in the outdoors. I just don't seeing Roczen being "dominant" but it is possible, so lets see.

The 2 stroke 4 stroke thing, it seems to me the 2 strokes really lost ground when AMA changed the fuel restrictions/rule. Then it appeared the 2 strokes could not compete.

So when a guy nails 1 or 2 GP titles he should dominate SX? If he does not he's not decent and it reflects to all the euro riders and the level of riding they are at? (aka they are way below the AMA riders)
They got beaten buy a guy that can't win a supercross on his first season ever, they are not even close to the AMA level!

They move to a different country, different team, different people around them. Everything changes for them.
Let's see how most riders would compete after making sutch big changes in their lives....... But i guess you think that has no effect on them. All you see is a bike and a rider. The things behind it do not matter and have no effect at all on the way they perform. Right?

Musquin had injuries and Roczen came in late with prep (also due to an injury). Both have limited SX experience compared to the top riders they compete with. Dominating the SX would have been humiliating to the US riders. But yet again K-roc manages to get a tie on the 2nd spot on his first ever SX season while hes only 17. The kid made a great first SX season, and he wil make a great outdoors season. Wil he win the championship?
I don't think so, not this year. But he wil be a future winner if he keeps doing what he is doing now.

I see him becoming dominant in the future, but first he has to tackle a championship, and i don't see that happening the first 2 years. K-roc is being outclassd due to EXPERIENCE. The talent is on par or maybe even better then the rest of the field he's battling.

Nevertheless: I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy the battles and competition, regardless of what the outcome is.

You came to that conclusion. I never said that.

I never said that either, I said "But first we were told, that Roczen was the fastest guy on the planet"... That is what the Euros on this board said. They had high expectations for both GP champs.

Since Roczen and Muskin are the Euros fastest riders, would you expect rider slower than these to to do better? I think it reflects on all Euro riders. But it does seem that the Frence seem to do better in SX historically.

"can't win a supercross on his first season even" Well it wasn't Roczens first season for one and "are not even close to the AMA level" It would seem that the Euros are not close to the American riders since Roczen and Musquin who are Europes best did not dominate in SX. i think most here forget that there are what like 3 riders in the world that can truly ride a 350 effectively. If my math is correct, that eliminates 99.999% of the riders on 99.999% of every moto forum. most of us need larger bore help.

It takes one look at your previous posts to see that you have some sort of misguided vendetta against KTM, so I doubt anyone is going to listen to you.

I came to that conclusion after your posts about the k-roc vs ama guys discussion, and then you even throw this in->
But what does it say? It says that Euro racers are not as good because Muskin and Roczen blow the Euros away but when they come to America, they are top five in a 250 class where the talent is split into east and west.

So by that you take both Musquin and k-roc down as talented riders AND putting the rest of the lites GP field even more below the AMA dudes.
Isn't the 'not decent' a good choice then? Or would you describe it differently?

"So when a guy nails 1 or 2 GP titles he should dominate SX?"

You keep hammering that they did not win an AMA sx title, thats why i was wondering and added a '?' after that.
If some random guy comes on and says the 2 euro guys wil beat everything in the AMA it makes the results allot less
impressive? Even when they made big changes with EVERYTHING? Competing in a new world of racing with allot of new people around them AND they hardly have experience with it compared to the other 'top 5' guys. All off that seems neglectable to you? Not even any need to take that into account?

It was Roczens first FULL season?....did u see a full season last year?? He had to skip Seattle due to the start of the GP season in Bulgaria. Travel after Bulgaria back to the US for Salt lake City (and hit a 2nd overall) and go back to Holland for Valkenswaard. Must have been one hell of a help getting prepped for those races while traveling overseas.... id love to see any top rider do that and still win like he never missed any prep. Grinning
This is the first season where he can truely focus on SX without any GP races in his head. He has experience yes but it's far from the experience the other AMA guys have. So his 'top5', or better, 'tied on 2nd in results' aint that bad.

You are fully aware that the GP does not have a supercross season right? That supercross and motocross are far from the same? The GP riders have close to no experience with supercross at high level? How the hell can you even think of judgeing and comparing GPresults to SX? Your eye can pickup talent like that? Wait ummm, is that you Mitch? :o
So who's possibly out of his mind then?! hmm?

I would not count them out, as we have not seen them ride SX over a few seasons. I have not seen them after they got a few years of experience in it. Making assumptions like that is as stupid as the ones that claimed Kenny would beat everyone in SX this year. He beat most of the riders in his class tough, those Euro guys where actually quite close. Wink

I dont recall anyone saying they would dominate in SX,all the arguing was about the Outdoors, and about mainly Bagget and Roczen,go look at the threads,at most there might be an odd post or 2 from someone talking shit in the heat of an argument, but no "World domination here thank you,.Even so,when he was plane hopping across the pond Roczen was learning SX well for a rookie, inbetween crashing,he did end up beating Tomac and Barcia there too for the record but anyhow, going on about SX is lame, the Outdoors are here soon.

Since you endlessly quote that the only time we get to compare riders is at the MXdN as that's the only time they rave each other,go through the results and see for yourself exactly how Roczen stacks up against the AMA pres guys that he's raced outdoors,he's got a new challenge this year anyhow as he's talking them on in their own series but I'm pretty sure he'll do fine,I can't wait to this Supercross stuff out of the way and onto the real racing start

Seems Roger Decoster might know a thing or two.

LOL

All it took was a great 250 rider to ride one instead of a carear 450 rider.

You talk to much shit, so if musquin and roczen go 1-2 at the last supercross were east and west are combined it makes them two the better riders? LOL

And also how can you say that roczen is no were near AMA level? BS that is! Everyone on this forum knows that is, he's proven that several times this year thats he's capable! I'm a massive fan of roczen but im not going to say he's going to make everyone look stupid in his first season..

Look at Zach osbourne, he was doing great in the AMA, then he came over to 'us' euro's and got absolutely smoked! I'm not slating him, im just proving that when everything changes around you it may take a year or two to adapt to the whole situation.

And also the track are completely different over here then in america, you cant expect either AMA rider or a Euro rider to change sides and completely dominate the first year.. But if they do then well done.

And anyway... Get back to the topic.

If the 350 has the right rider and it fits him well, it can compete with the 450 in SX (with a decent rider of course). Outdoors no way. It's common sense. 100cc less = 100cc less power. Not that much difference in SX. MX a completely different story. The 450 can be competitive with any top rider indoors (and obviously outdoors too). The 350 needs a specific riding style to be effective. So in other words, if you can put the 350 on the box, you can put the 450 on the box. However, if you can put the 450 on the box, that doesn't necessarily mean you can put the 350 on the box.

The 350 has already won outdoors at Hangtown,as you say it suits the right rider,I'm sure that's the case too,and in the right hands it can win

You could always look at it another way,the 250 is fast outdoors 100cc more =100cc more power

Also many doubted KTM in the senior AMA class but look at it now that Dungey is on it,shame he got injured and shame for everyone that Villopoto is around and so fast right now,

If (just imagine) Villopoto signed with KTM next year,I could see him winning on a 350 or 450 anyone disagree??

Seriously, Short got I think two 4ths last year on the 350 in SX......with everyone out there. Does Roczen do worse on the 450? I saw several times where he had the pass made on Short and a twist of the throttle had Short blow right back by him. No one deemed the 350 a POS, it has been deemed a disadvantage to a 450 in any power situation, though. Maybe Roczen wins by 3 seconds on a 450. Wouldn't expect any 350 lovers to think logically. Hey, to think he stomped Dungey out on the 450....maybe Dungey is ready to see the light and make the switch?

Not for a second do I think RV wins more than a few of anything on a 350. If he made such a move he instantly would become Dungey's bitch.

All of this Roczen talk about lack of supercross racing experience. Why is it that no one has mentioned that he has the same amount of race experience as Tomac. Tomac is only in his second year and he SHOULD have won in his first year. Shoulda woulda coulda I know but if you want to compare experience to results than look no further than the person currently in the lead of the West coast Lites championship. Also I don't remember Osbourne doing well over here at all. If I remember correctly he was doing poorly which is why he went to Europe.
