i actually thought that 500's had a little more than that, i was thinking low 60's, but with a pipe/motor work no doubt it can get up there...no wonder why the AMA won't allow equal displacement, bc these dinosaur's have more horsepower/weigh less than their current more techniologically advanced 4 strokes

Just think. Being 26 years old, how easy it would be to drop 10-15 pounds and add 10 HP to that.

Haven't you ever seen the Service Honda CR500AF.? Or even the Service Kawasaki KX500AF.? If not, servicehonda.com . They weigh 214lbs.. The CR500AF has around 62hp stock. No other bike can match that kind of power to weight ratio. Not even a crotch rocket.!

My Kaw ZX10R weighs about 375 and puts out about 165HP. Figure it out.

Lol Two words. Bull Shit. 221 lbs. Not a fucken chance. I weighed my CR500 before I did my AF. Weighed the 450 before and after the conversion. I can tell you unless Kawi was using some high tech space age metals in 86, that guys delirious. Even without fuel, coolant and trans oil, no way. Where DO guys come up with these tales?
Who's the seller, Clueless Mucho? He owns a KX500. Although it can't be that nice. He admitted looping it out and spitting up blood after. Have to assume some bike damage as well. Maybe brain damage too, apparently. Lol.
The Kaw makes more hp than the Honda. Seems to me MXA did dyno runs years ago. CR at 55 peak, KX a couple more. Lots of potential for hop up work though. Just throwing a a Pro Circuit pipe on my 96 KX woke it right up.

I call Bullshit & Bullshit.

My PC built KX500SR doesn't make 59 & it's a bit lighter than stock; yet, it weighs more than 221.

My CR500AF (built on a CRF250 chassis) weighs 223 without gas. That KX weighs a lot more.

59 HP is no problem at all, though. The reason a typical 500 two stroke makes 55 - 56 is it makes them easier to ride, less tiring and easier to start. I rode a CR500AF that had "Grand Prix" (mid-to-up) porting, and it was ridiculous for a motocross bike. I don't care what kind of shape you're in, you're not going to ride that bike hard for very long on a motocross track. It would be fun in the desert, which is what it was designed for.

Burn1986 unless your Vmax burns Nitro it will never make 186hp. As far as the weight of the XR200 chassi well I'm pretty sure that alone weighs at least 170lbs.. The Vmax engine is over 225lbs by itself.. I would have to say your Vmax is more like 425-450lbs. Go figure that out!!Tongue

WhKnuckle, my shipping invoice for my 2010 Service Honda CR500AF says shipped weight of 214lbs. I will have to get the scales out and weigh it with fuel..

scooter5002 I realized it may be hard to beleive what any magazine prints but; Every dyno run that I have seen between CR500 and the KX500. Shows that the CR500 actually has more power than the KX. We all know that the KX pulls longer and the power is in the upper range. Pro Circuit pipe just moves the power even more toward top end.. If the mags did fudge the dyno results why would they all say the CR has more than the KX?

When I weighed my bike, it had coolant and oil in the engine but no fuel. It did have Renthal Twin-walls, RG3 clamps, a DID ERT chain, a heavier flywheel and billet engine covers, and all that stuff adds a little weight. I didn't have calibrated scales, but I did check them by putting three 45 lb barbell plates on them and they read correctly, so they were at least close.

That is cool. What year is your CR500AF? How is it with the flywheel weight? How many ounces is it? Our bikes still weigh less than any fourstroke. Who did your cylinder and head? I want to send mine to Eric Gore. Then I want to buy the Dicks Racing Intellajet for my carb..

I have two of them, a '03 and a '07, the '07 is the one I weighed. When I ran a flywheel weight, it was (I think) a 8 oz, but now I'm using the electronic ignition with all the variable maps that AJ sells. You don't need a weight with that ignition, and I don't even think anyone makes one (it does make it critical that you use the exactly right starting technique, though). My engine is stock, except with a Boyesen reed valve.

Oh, I forgot, I also had Barnett clutch components in my bike when I weighed it, with steel plates, so those might have added a few ounces.

Yes, I myself bought Aj's ignition. I had two of them. But I loaned my last one to a freind of mine. Who has yet to give it backUnsure I felt confused when I ran it. I did not notice any bennifit for easier starting.. Plus I thought I burned it up because it was fouling plugs.. But turned out to be airfilter and jets.. So know that I have the iboost I want to use that with the Service Honda ignition. I also use Barnett Dirt Digger clutches.. With Vforce delta 2 reeds.. I am going to have to get my ignition back and try it..Smile

There's a video on the Service Honda site that tells you the starting routine for the AJ ignition - if you do it his way, it fires right up. If you try to start it the normal way, it's pretty iffy and more than a little aggravating. You get the kickstarter to TDC, push the starter just a little farther, take it all the way to the top of the stroke, kick it all the way through, and very quickly bring the starter halfway back up and kick it again while the engine is still turning, kind of like the way you start a 125. No throttle and it cranks right up. Any other way, it's a bitch. At least mine is.

Thats nothing guys, my Weslake speedway bike made 84 hp and weighed 120 lbs wet and had no brakes and only turned left!!!

Then we put it on a dyno and scale and it was 42hp at 6000feet and weighed 178lbs but it still had no brakes and only turned left

I'd buy it for the high performance powerband and stock front tire. You just can't get those any more.

Is that a Factory Hi-Performance or Production High Performance Power-Band?

The Service AF bikes look cool.

But I also know two different pro riders who gave em a shot and broke em in half in less than 5 laps. If youre fast enough to use the power of those things, you will break em. And if youre not fast enough to use the power, youre better off with a smaller bike I would think.
