Everyone who blames his bike is completely wrong. The bike did not make James over jump that section in Houston, the bike did not make James crash in the whoops in San Diego, the bike did not make him jump off the side of the track in A1, the bike did not make James crash in the sand in PHX...these are ALL MENTAL mistakes. The bike is not the problem, James IS the problem. I want nothing more than for him to come back and compete and win and especially race the nationals, but he has got some major focus issues.

Exactly, everyone go look at that Everts thread and count the # of bikes he rode...James is not a rookie- He's a 26 year old veteran Champion-There should be really no excuses....

Yeah Reed and the Kawi..well go back and you'll hear Reed talk about how he was not in a good place that year too (mentally he even stated he was going through a lot of Sh***)...and look again regarding James and this year, Chad..... says in his opinion it's the pace- (In response to DV's tweets about letting James try Davi's set up). Chad is out there racing these guys.

Personally, I'd love to see James break contract, buy a zuk and build a team around it like Reed..It would take balls and in addition to that I just don't see him being happy with a fourth place finish regardless what color he's on and that fact alone would most likely mean more soil samples and more speculation on set up Smile
Chad..... says in his opinion it's the pace- (In response to DV's tweets about letting James try Davi's set up). Chad is out there racing these guys.

He has also called the bike a "turd" on PulpMX, and said it is very difficult to set up for a rider that likes to push its limits.

I've said since the beginning, if he does't ride outdoors it will be because he is probably on his way out of the team. It will be interesting to see what happens. I haven't heard confirmation one way or the other but I know neither side is happy for a lot of reasons. It would be a shame if it ends like this. Those guys at JGR have put in a lot of effort and I believe they can make the situation better if James would just be willing to take 2nd or 3rd and build on it, do more testing and do the outdoor series.

I'm not so sure it's what he smoked for his lunch as much as it's that he likely had the May 1999 issue of Dirt Rider featuring the 2000 Bike Of The Year Cannondale with him in the crapper that day

Regarding James and his bike/team/etc...

if he were to go the route that Chad did and start his own team based around the bike he liked best... would it still be the Suzuki? Or would he go to the bike that has dominated the past few years in the 2012 KX450F? James and Kawi's gelled well together and we all know that.

Or would he agree with Reed and feel the Honda has the best potential to win?

Or maybe he'd go with the company that seems to offer the most support to teams (with the recent introduction of many new teams who have chosen to ride their bikes) by going with a KTM?

Then again... if the JGR deal goes south he may just end up doing what Chad almost did, and be 'sitting in the stands drinking beers with the fans'

My memory isn't what it used to be but didn't James claim when Kawasaki left him that the Kawi had shortcomings which didn't allow him to fully exploit his talent and that the Yamaha was a much better platform?

That was the 09 though. Different bike completely.

Yep and iam pretty confident in quoting big james "were finally on equal equipment" . As if the bike kept james from winning the many potential/possible championships. Sound familiar?

Theres a constant through the years but bike/ set up isnt it imo. I m starting to think that red hair is james kryptoniteSmile

Really?

People say my generation is worthless, it's morals like this that lets my generation get away with some of the dumbest ideas one could come up with.

As to the idiots pointing out he didn't have a ticket book...why else would James try to pull people over? To high 5 them and tell them they've been "punked"?

His father must be proud, a Champion...whom deputized himself to rid the country of undercover cops....
You really think he pulled them to give them a ticket? Is it even possible for someone other than a cop to have a ticket book? IM pretty sure he flashed the lights at them signaling them to move out of the way.

Idk. I'm not sold on the bike thing either way. I've ridden the 09 and the 11. To me the 11 is an improvement. Albeit an absolute TANK. I'm 5'8 and ride a Honda 450 though. Which, IMO is the best bike for little dudes like me. Keep in mind James is like 5' 5 or something...

Well the last time I did a national at red bud I was only 24 seconds off of James lap time. So I'm sure we hit the hoops about the same bro.

And for the record, he pulled them over because THE COPS were the ones driving like assholes. He simply told them to slow down. Looking at that incident without socially conditioned lenses and what Bubba ACTUALLY DID is nothing to be considered an asshole for.

I'm sorry but are you suggesting that James was in the right to turn on flashing lights and chase down another car on the highway?
The "socially conditioned lense" you are talking about is called the law......what he did was against the law.

Villopoto's contract is up this year, right?

Who has deeper pockets Kawasaki, or JGR?

Guess we are going to find out.

From the above posted RX article:

For the record, Stewart has never uttered one bad thing about his team or bike. But he doesn’t have to for people to get talking. For example, while it seems widely known and understood that James doesn’t get along with the current generation Yamaha, he has never once actually said that in an interview. And even now, while rumors swirl that he could be out at JGR, either by his decision, theirs, or both, you’ve never heard a word from Stewart, not once, about not liking the team or wanting out. Somehow, with Stewart, these things either leak out or simply get made up. In the case of not really getting ACL surgery in 2008, it wasn’t true. In the case of 2012? Anything is possible. That’s James Stewart for you.
he has uttered negative words about the yamaha.....just not on the record so these guys could print it!

Everyone loves the idea of what Chad did, but it's not realistic IMO. He got lucky. Honda needed a banner carrier and they saw the turnaround he had with the fans by doing it his way and they gave him factory bike. When Chad was on his PC Honda, he was not that fast. It wasn't until he got on the factory bike at the end of SX that he started showing speed and getting that support because their riders were hurt allowed him to run the nationals.

James could put his own deal together and maybe it would work with Suzuki or whatever, but that's a big leap without the right people around you. I'm not sure James has those people.

As a James Stewart fan, I wouldn't mind if this was true. Only because JGR is stuck with yamaha, and I would love to see Stewart OFF Yamaha...... so that means he needs to leave the team.

jdmnx, I like you. You are a quality member, but you have totally missed my point.

I'll break it down for you.

James is a HUMAN BEING. The "police officer" is a HUMAN BEING. It doesnt matter who pulls who over. If YOU think its ok for a police officer to pull over another human being (that is driving like a dick), then it shouldnt really be an issue for James to pull over another human being and simply tell them they are driving like a dick. It's not like Bubba wrote them a ticket and took money from them. He simply told them to "slow down". No harm there. Really, James did nothing "wrong".

Hell, had he just been pulling a prank, I still wouldnt be condemning the kid. Kids pull pranks. Big deal. But this wasnt some case where he was just driving around fucking with people. Not even close.

As for my whole "socially conditioning" part. I dont think you got it. And I probably shouldnt even try to explain it to you. But on a simple level, I'll explain it like this... you refer to "the law" as if it is some sort of absolute right or wrong, when in fact, the law has nothing to do with actual right or wrong. Youre simply lead to believe it is. No rational person would ever equate right and wrong with the law. Really examine the laws in some states or countries and its easy to see that its an entirely subjective scale of judgement that has no basis on logic/reason. And to live by any "legal" definition of right/wrong is not only asinine but would only make sense to a person that has been socially conditioned by "the man" or "the matrix" or "the system" or whatever hippy-as-fuck term one likes to use.

Appreciate your words, you are someone that usually posts good stuff as well.

Here is where we differ;

James is a human being that has a job racing motorcycles.
The police officers are human beings that have a job enforcing the law.

Yes the cops were wrong to be driving too fast.....but James was also wrong to pull up and flash blue lights at them.
You know what they about two wrongs......

Of course the law is not an absolute but there are some pretty clear lines that you can draw between what is legal and what is illegal.
We aren't talking about some esoteric concept of right and wrong.....we are talking about doing something that is illegal, kinda stupid and then being caught while doing it.
Yes it is "wrong" to break the law, you can try and dress it up with talk of social constructs and conditioning but that is just a lot of BS excuses.

And he is not a kid......I'm not sure why people keep saying that.
James was 26 when he did this the guy with him is in his late 30's.
That is not a couple teenagers pulling a prank, that is two men who did something dumb and got caught.

Now I am not trying to say that he is the only person to do something dumb, not by the longest of long shots.
Hell I have done some pretty stupid things in my life too.....but I don't try to justify them.

Why did JS even have a police light in his car in the first place? What was his plan? What might have he done if he hadn't been stupid enough to do what he did?

We'll never know but it was a great prank for a 16 year old.........
