Witouth an AMA tech tear down, how can we be assured that engines are legal?

Why bother having displacement rules in effect if their are no 'meaningful' check and balances?

Perhaps engines are protested because no one want someone coming back and looking in their motor.

Top three finishers [and a few random riders] should have a tear down in the devils opinion.

Kenny's team has been a huge disappointment this year. He had riders who started out well and the team was getting some pub. Now? Nobody is talking about his team, so he just says some things that will get his name out there, in the attention whore kind of way he does.

If a team owners rider is being labled as a cheater, of course the owner should should stick up for his rider, whether it's a mx fourm, radio show, or mx rag.

MCR has done a great Job with Alessi this year, They have some great results and nobody is hearing any TA drama, I say job well done and Watson shouldn't even joke about other Teams doing anything.

Protest = Put up or Shut up. but don't speculate on a radio show.

Sure if someone puts the money up. Would you do it for free?
What kills me is all BS that goes on about this. I know Mikes tuner very well. They work hard on those bikes. Testing and putting every minute of time into it as possible. Both Tuff Performance and Mr Genova have also given incredible support to make the bike it the best it can be...and people still question it? Obviously they are doing something right!!

Getting the holeshot means absolutely nothing if you don't finish.

Besides.. RV has more anyway.

Watson:I want you to watch Alessi out of the gate. Watch his bike to see how fast that thing is.” He goes, “Do you think those factory Hondas are fast?” I go, “Oh yeah.” He goes, “You probably think they’re one of the best running bikes out there.” I go “For sure.” That dude freaking pulled him so hard

Kenny can we use your quote in an ad, I don't think we could come up with a better qoute. We do Kawasaki's also just in case your interested.

I want to handle ALL the MCR from here on...

Official MCR Press-Release under on my watch...

"Recently it has been alluded to that we are building bikes that're 'Cheaters'. Sure, sure we are! In-fact, we've spent a Gazzillion Dollars developing bikes that are Soooooo Illegal that it's just crazy! Sure, we know we can have a Win taken away from us if we're caught 'Cheating'. Sure, we're that stupid. Thanks."

Sitting here in my front room relaxing after a long day at the office and I check the Vital forum to see if anything in the moto world took place today and I come across this blog of Kenny Watson even mentioning the word cheating when it comes to Mike pulling holeshots.

While I actually think Kenny is a pretty good guy, it is of my opinion that he says things that are at times unprofessional, disrespectful, demeaning and undermining to and about people in the racing world that is damaging to our sport and the people that are part of it.

Kenny is very experienced and knows very well that Mike is the best starter in the business because of his ability to time and jump the gate, his amazing shifting timing and his constant pracicing of starts coupled with the fact that he weighs a hundred and fifty pounds, due to strict diet and a tremendous work ethic.
So to imply in any way that Mike needs to run a cheater is a head scratched to me. Mike is a great guy first and foremost and a top pro motorcycle racer and for the life of me I cannot figure out what motivates people to try and find what's wrong with him, instead of what a huge asset he is to our sport.

On a different note, I as the owner really take exception to public assumptions like these as it really does take a shot at my team and my credibility and integrity. We have taken off the shelf components and built fast and reliable bikes in both classes, pulling multiple holeshots in both classes.

MotoConcepts and Mike Alessi are not cheaters for two reasons, 1) we are ethical, clean and smart 2) we don't have to cheat to succeed, especially when it comes to starts.

Thank you to all of you who believed in us at the start of the season, and thank you to those of you who are starting to believe in us now and giving our team some respect.

Genova
MIke, first of all thanks for putting your time and money into running a team to put more riders on the gate,

but, along with Tony calling out brotocross last week, why do you feel you need to respond to a small radio show, or a small blog, I think this is one area where the MX industry needs to grow up, if you take ball sports which rule the world the shit that gets talked about the players is 10 times worse than is ever said about mx riders or teams, and the managers do not try to out the writers,

if Kenny really believed that you guys where running a big bore he could protest, he hasn't so he must not believe it, I like the fact he can talk honestly to provide an entertaining show, but when people get upset about something small like this it will rob us of a great show, esp when you believe the vital review of it, and not what was said on the show, as we all know the truth is often ignored on here,

I think all the team managers and owners need to stay off here, and let the fans talk the shit they want,

i think that if you accuse one person of running a cheater motor then they should all be checked, is say pop the heads on every other bike on the line, i wouldn't be surprised if more than a handful weren't playing by the rules

From practicing on national tracks days before events to the old "Kill Switch" incident. Why is it not possible their bike is not bored out illegally? It's only cheating if you get caught right??

You can give Mike a 650 big bore and he still wouldn't win a supercross. Once the whoops come around that first lap he is done.

I find this kind of thing funny. Making assumptions that a bike must be a cheater bike to keep up with the factorys. I can nip down to a tuning shop, get an extra 15 hp by boring it out and modding the bike to the hilt. Doesn't mean that I will out pull a 125 down a flat slick starts straight.

RV pulled the hole shot against factory/works gp 450's at the des nations when the start straight was turned deep and watered which should have been a HP is king start. well it wasn't.
That day RV had the perfect gate jump, gear shift, hp and traction to pull that off. Power is nothing without control.

Mike I think just has the confidence through an amazing amateur career and pro career at getting to the first turn in the top 3. Look at Blake B. He has one of the best bikes on the line and can't buy a start.

Just pointing out that unless their is a tech inspection tear-down we'll never know definitively.

And even if you do some people will just_never_believe. [i.e. Obama birth cert freaks]
Something you guys may be overlooking is that RV also had the shortest, straightest line into a 180 corner, on a bike that's much easier to slow down and turn than a 450.

Guess you don't follow stick and ball sports at all. If someone gets called out for being a cheater, it does get a response from that players manager, owner, team, whoever. Skip Bayless is always on some athletes twitter getting smack talked.

Alessi always cheated, in the Ams. Even with the super Honda support team with them everywhere. I was standing right there when they DQ'd him at Loretta's for the air box filter thing. They tried to say the mechanics, (factory Honda mechanics with a huge trailer just to service Alessi , thought it was legal). But it doesn't matter now. He can can cheat all he wants, and he's not winning anything in Pro racing. Maybe the Am cheating didn't do him any good . But he doesn't have it. I don't know his monetary situation, but at this point,he's never racing for a championship. Maybe he gets sponsor endorsements that keeps him riding for the money, but he will never be a contender indoors or outdoors for a championship. There are way faster guys running in lites that will blow him away in the 450's when they move up. Barcia will put him in the hospital. Then later Barcia will cry and say he's sorry and laugh. He is like a famous privateer now. I just hope he hangs on and doesn't get hurt, because in a few years, no one will ever remember who he is. I'm getting sick of this sport on a professional level. A fast bike can't make you win, but a slow bike can make you lose. I know that a lot of improvements on the bikes come from racing, but I would rather see everyone on a stock bike to even the field. What other sport tells competitors to not compete when they are behind? If lappers are a problem, why are they there? Let the top 5 guys run against each other. Many aspects of this sport just don't make sense. I got off topic here but 2 facts to end. Alessi ,in my opinion will never win a championship. And secondly, what Barcia did, he did on purpose, and it bit him in the ass. He's the top rider, he can get around the lappers with out a problem. He passes faster riders without a problem. And when you are that far ahead, and wanting to keep going, why look back? It was a message that I'm big ,you are small. I have no respect for him at all. This sport needs to make a lot of changes.

Serious? Didn't he just lose the title by a few points to Langston at the final round a few years back? Then come out swinging and kinda dominating the next year until he blew the knee? And while many of the rockstar riders go hide in the semi truck, Alessi has gone out of his way for the fans on several occassions that I have witnessed. He's had his drama and done some dumb things no doubt, but seems to be maturing quite well and becoming more and more of what this sport needs. Just my personal observation, but I've been observing this stuff for a pretty good while.

My guess is that on some level, everyone is cheating. I highly doubt, however, that you would find something as blatant as a big bore on a high profile top 10 bike/team. My guess is you would find small violations like trace amounts of illegal fuel (wink wink) or maybe some "oversight" with regards to sound levels.

Overall, Kenny sounds like a good dude. He has his schtick but he seems to have a good heart underneath it all. We can't all be perfect all the time. I'm sure he'll speak to Mike Genova and clear it up. History has shown that KW has put his foot in his mouth in the past but he's not afraid to own up to it and address it. If he realized at that moment what he was saying, I'm sure he would have refrained. Non issue IMO

Credit to rustytrombone in the "Watson just accused 800 of cheating" thread.

Watson: Hey, speaking of Alessi, this is a funny one. We watched, me & Roadblock; Kyle Bentley, a guy I work with, were up in the press box. And he goes, “I want you to watch Alessi out of the gate. Watch his bike to see how fast that thing is.” He goes, “Do you think those factory Hondas are fast?” I go, “Oh yeah.” He goes, “You probably think they’re one of the best running bikes out there.” I go “For sure.” That dude freaking pulled him so hard, and Tony was out there, and I ran over to Tony before the main, like at the 30 second board. And I’m all, “Hey! Hey! I got a bet with someone, is your guy gonna pull it?” And he goes, “Ahh, not from the outside.” Like, and like he just gave me this weird look. But, dude it makes me think, like “Hmmm, 147? 167?” Maybe a little (whistles) inside that thing?

Matthes: Are you talking about Mike Alessi?

Watson: Yeah.

Matthes: Well he’s riding a 450, so…

Watson: Yeah, I know. I know what he rides. But, uh, do you think maybe uh,

Holley: He’s talking about over boring.

Matthes: Yeah I guess. Yeah, I don’t know.

Watson: I don’t know dude, but dude, you’ve gotta think about it. He’s on a privateer bike, bro. And I know he’s a good starter and all that stuff, but I don’t know. I don’t know. Don’t think I’m accusing him of anything, but it’s kind of weird, man. Kind of weird.

couldn't it just be that some people have better / quicker reaction time than others, and they are naturally better starters than the competition? I think it's weird to now say MA800 is cheating, when he has proved over his entire amateur and professional career that he's a holeshot artist.
4/4/2012 4:05pm
ok, a serious note on this topic,

i do not believe that the bikes are big bores, because you can easily get enough hp out of 450cc to make the bikes rip, but is this the problem? are the bikes are too fast, both Alessi's (esp Jeff) have not been finishing as strong as they start, (with exceptions) and it has been the talk among the factory 450 riders that they take horsepower out of the bikes to make them easier to ride,

are the mcr 450's too fast for supercross? the harder and rutter the tracks the more they seem to struggle???
