No I'm Jereme Flynn but I grew up racing with Ben, although he was always in a league of his own. I did quad at the four stroke nationals,and the triple- triple then and later when the jumps were bigger. JR Carter followed me over the quad and I don't know if he let off or what but when I came around the next lap he was still there

As far as Mertens there was a thread here where his old team owner Michael Holigan said last he heard Mertens was roofing houses in Cali.

Ben Riddle is actually back on a 2013 KX450F chasing his 6th Loretta Lynn Title and making his way back to the podium. He's been released since roughly March and has full support of myself, my brand, and others that have been behind him even through his mistakes. We support Ben 110% along with some of the support he's gaining from Fox/Shift and others. Look for videos to come soon of him ripping a 4 stroke like a 2 stroke. Mertens is living in nor cal being a husband and a dad, but has dabbled a little in dirt bikes since "walking away" but has been doing well for himself.

Yesterday, I ran a local track for practice day as the owner had to go out of town. Ben Riddle showed up. I was out of MX and did not follow it when Ben had his moment in the sun.

He had three young guys with him. All had signed up for Ben's training. They were pretty darn fast. Ben was on the track coaching them the entire time.

After 35 years in tactical jet aviation, I don't hear all that well. When I was talking with Ben he very quietly said something about being a pro back in the day. I didn't really catch it all beyond "used to be a pro," and dismissed it as the usual "every other guy that comes out used to be a pro" banter we've all heard at our local tracks.

Ben was cool. Very quiet. After they left, I looked him up. Found a "Where are they now" interview with Ben. Turns out he was a very promising pro back in 2000. His story is very compelling.

The press wasn't kidding either...he is a tall man. He seemed to me to be a very good teacher. Best of luck to you, Ben, and the guys you're working with.

I grew up racing the same class as your son at mid-state and daniel boone and always looked up to ben as a racer. He could flat out haul ass anywhere he went.

Ben owns the sandlot track in KY now. Coaching and riding. Seems to be keeping it together. Dude loves moto, thats for certain

Met Ben and his brother Ian thru a mutual friend (now passed away) at Lorettas in 1998 if I remember right. Ben was an amazing talent and cool dude. His family is some real country folks too. His dad was awesome. He would be rocking swim trunks and showering in the creek hillbilly style while everyone else pitted by them is in there motorhomes and rigs. Wish nothing but the best for Ben and really stoked to see his coaching program working out. Very cool!!
