I use Maxima Castor 927 in my bike, Rotella T6 5w40 in my truck, and any old 30 weight oil in my lawn mower.

I've used all kinds of oil and can't recall anything to actually relate to an oil related failure. The only time I've ever had an oil not work was in a 1980 CR250 Honda. Tried Bel Ray gear saver in it (since I was using it in all my other bikes at the time) and it was difficult to shift. Used some straight 30 wt. Pennzoil and it shifted fine.

I know the KX shares engine and tranny oil and I believe the RMZ does as well. Just make sure you get a NON friction modified oil since the oil goes through both the engine and transmission.

worcs and peely: Far be it from me to tell you what to do. Just want to throw this out there. You do realise what you are using is a modern oil made for a high temp, high soot, EGR diesel engine found in trucks, correct? As in the N14 Cummins I run in my RIG! Not exactly a moto application. All the additives they jam in that jug to make it work just won't be good for your clutch, long term. If saving money is all you are concerned about, maybe just go with Wal Marts own 10W30 automotive oil. At least there's LESS crap in that. The rule is now with these new CI oils is that there's more additives than oil in that jug. Being in the biz, I'm somewhat familiar with what's happening. Unless you're planning on throwing a 5th wheel and a Jake Brake on your bike, maybe switch to something a little more compatible. Although the Jake would let you slam the brakes on harder and later for the corners. Add some straight pipes and you the MAN!

Shell Rotela. Never used anything else and I doubt we ever will. My sons last 450 had 200 hours on it when we pulled it apart and everything still looked like new.

Rotella T 15w-40 - as has been mentioned, you can get it at Wal-Mart.
Absolutely just as good or better than ANY other oil for use in your dirt bike.
