Strange that we have those that see nothing, and those that see a rut or a square edge. How can some see a square edge which wouldn't resemble a rut, and others see a rut which wouldn't resemble a square edge? Then there are those that see neither. This would make a great psychological experiment of how people's personal thoughts impact what they see.

I can clearly see Alessi's rear wheel hit a square edge bump which kicks the rear wheel to the left, forcing the front to the right. I saw this while I was watching the race live, and I see it in the video. It's so clear to me that I can't understand how anyone can see it any differently.

Weird eh?
I see the square edge and the kick, but I'm not sure if that's what caused it - I'm not sure that it didn't either. It looks to me like just another kicker but Alessi is moving over to the inside as he normally would. It's not until there's contact with Windham that his back end swings out on him.

My conclusion: I'm not sure what happened.

MA was taking the same line the entire field was taking into that turn. kW came up the inside and just didn't get there in time. Just a racing incident, nothing more, nothing less. Unless of course your'e tryin to make more out of it.....

Being cut over on mid-air is hardly "not getting there in time." Like I said, I'm not sure what happened, but if Alessi moved over that's certainly not a "racing incident."

Hey, it's a good thing Kevin didn't get there in time. If he had been a little quicker and had a wheel in front, he could have been landed on and hurt even worse (not that his injuries are minor).

Their lines came together and KW got the short end of the stick. If their positions were reversed and Mikey hit the ground he would still be 'at fault' due to his reputation.

And yes, each of those two riders have earned their reputations.

Kevin was pressing the issue down that straight for sure. He's normally really good at picking his time and place for a pass. Apparently that wasn't the time and place for that one.

Do you remember playing that game, where you whisper into someone's ear, and they whisper what you
...said into someone else's ear, and so on. Remember how the person on the end, Never said correctly what the first person said, because by the time it was continued on to the next person, that person, interpreted something totally different?

This thread is a perfect example of that, yet we are reviewing a video. Luckily Windham is ok and was checked out at the Hospital and is just sore and will make the next round.

Truly interesting the different POV's

I agree with the POV thing, and people will see what they want to see.

I like when people have different ideas on topics like this. Where it drives me nuts is when they get completely hell-bent on making sure that their version "wins."

it's hard to tell exactly what happened by that video alone, but I tend to think it was unintentional because Mike would have been able to see KW beside him and then he would have had to make the decision that he was going to intenionally jump into him, I'm not buying it.

but, if they hadn't made contact when they did, they surely would have come together in the corner because of the tough block taking away the inside line of KW.

From my view what I saw was a racing incident. I dont think Alessi knew how close Windham was, and yes he was moving over but just to get to the inside. The inside of the next corner was the better line, IMO he just trying to get there.

Mike is always doing dumb stuff, that's why he is getting the majority of the blame in this two-party incident.
Guilty by past dumb incidents.

If you watch it over and over, you'll see Alessi's back end start drifting to the left after he contacts K-Dub's elbow on the way up and across. Right at this point you also see Kevin's body/bike postioning starting to turn into a fall in perfect relation to having his elbow hit. Alessi aimed over that way, nothing "kicked" him over. The notion that he was kicked by something comes from getting out of shape due to contact with Kevin's elbow.
I watched it over and over, the woman wearing the skimpy bikini in the inside of the track flashed Mike her boobies...I think thats the reason Mike's bike moved over....or was I watching it too much to read into it what I hoped happened?

gonna bring some logic to this. here's the video

measure the distance from the inside tuffblock to kevins bike when he lands at 9:40.....then look at 9:43 (where they contact). Kevin creeped into mike as mike was closing into pinch kevin. Neither were at fault.

but if you want to blame someone....alessi has position (ahead) and kevin didnt hold his line either.

p.s. and i'm not def not a M. Alessi fan.

It looks like MA was trying to protect the inside and misjudged how close KW was. SImple racing incident, get over it.

I couldnt agree more. I see the kick and see how it could have possibly made him get kicked over toward Kdub. He also could have just been moving over to jump to the inside as normal and with Kdub trying to run up in there they came together. Or with the kicker not affecting him at all he could have just blatantly moved over to cut Kdub off.
I come to the same conclusion- Not entirely sure. And I think it isn't possible to come to one without Alessi saying exactly what happened- which of course no guy will admit to cutting over on another in the air. So....who the hell knows.

Alessi was taking the like a majority of the riders were taking, but he also wanted to close the door on KW so he couldn't get inside of him.

KW saw the tuff block and started to move to his left a little, both lines came together. That happens some times in racing.

And who moved over more, Barcia or Alessi?

Because people were praising Barcia for closing the door on Wharton, but now that it is KW its a sin?

I just hate it when Alessi pulls the holeshot b/c it's pretty much guaranteed he is going to roadblock the fast guys as they come through and have some sort of negative effect on at least one person's race.

Agree 100%, and whether its on purpose or not, he's gonna have that tag for his whole career. It is what it is, and its annoying as hell everytime.

I know I will get flamed for this. But you can not always take a riders account of what happened as actual fact. When you are on the track in the moment, you cant see the whole picture. IE you cant always tell why or what the other rider/riders did or had to do dependoing on the circumstances leading up to that point (other riders, lappers, mistake, kicked by bump\rut, etc.

it's a shame we cant qualify people comments with their own race results, that would definitely fix most of this shit being said...

I dont get how moving from left to right across the track before a right hand corner with a tuff block on the inside line was him tring to avoid the tuff block? He should have held his line straight down that rhythm lane, especially if he wanted to avoid the tuff block and go around it to the outside which would have made the most sense.
