DNF or no, you still gave everyone something exciting to look forward to and it was worth every penny.

If you make the main in N.O. the roof will come down and this site will crash for sure!

Now if we can just keep this train rolling and have you go to a couple more races!!! ??

A properly put together 144 is every bit as reliable as a 125.

Ricky why don't you give the guy that said he would rebuild your motor for free a call? he's in the other thread I believe. I'm sure everyone would be stoked if you put the 125 up there, but for me personally, I would be a lot more interested if you rode a 144 or even a 151 and stirred up some controversy. I'd like to see which slack jawed faggot would accuse you of cheating.

I know some of the members here own graphics companies- how about getting some badass stickers designed?

Lol you make me laugh, seems like everything you post about me is negative.. Did I beat your kid or something and you are upset? Or do you just hate seeing people get excited about somethings? Take your negativity elsewhere. We're gunna talk about some 125 2stroke supercross racing here for a little while.

Nope you never beat my kid, I'm pretty sure you don't race BMX or wrestle, I'm also pretty sure you wouldn't beat him at either.

Ok in all honesty, I like what you're doing, just don't think you should be telling anyone what motor your running. Just so you know there is a AMA tech guy who lurks here and he's not going to care about nestalgia like some others, he going to care about the rule book. If I had it my way a 165 would be legal in AMA competition, bit its not.

If you can get away with running a big bore by allmeans do it. I helped a guy do it for a year, we just weren't dumb about it.

We had nothing but problems with the 144...If I was going to do it again i would go with a ported stroker motor.

Iam sure Jakes Dad has the scoop on that..We did the gorr 144 and had nothing but problems..might be a great bike for trail or a slow guy..but when you are ringing the life out of the bike..the 144 dont seem to hold up..but we also had a cr125r and the cylinder thickness might have been the problem...piston hitting power valves makes a strange sound Blush happened 3 times..

I would go with ported stroker motor if i was to put another one together....Varner is the man for that job....

and another thing..
You just admitted you cheated before, so way make a scene over what Ricky is doing??
I traveled the tours with a well-known privateer for 12 years, never once did he cheat with his 125 or 250f, outdoors or indoors.
Looking back, I wonder if we really did the right thing!?!?

I'm sure he'll be back with a legal bike. Hell, it was legal at Daytona, he just told all the 4 stroke lovers it was a 144 so they wouldn't feel so bad getting their asses handed to them on their 290 and 302F's.Laughing
LOL, I'm sure your not far off on this one Newmann. I wish he's run a 167 stroker. Worst they could do is DQ him.

Question - did everyone pay up who claimed they would for making the night show or is this your standard"all talk" where only a few guys actually ponied up after the night show?

Here's a thought if you need more $$ for trying this again - I'm sure business owners might be more willing to "sponsor" you for one race from their company funds, instead of paying you personal money out of their pockets.

For example, I would offer several hundred dollars to "sponsor" you to "market" my business, but that would mean you would have to print a set of graphics with the company names of those who sponsored you - easy. In this case, a section of your graphics (say your fenders for example) might look like a microsoft word document with tiny text/logos, but I wouldn't care as long as my company name IS on there somewhere...this might be an easier way to rake in some "sponsorship" dollars.
I haven't paid him yet, but will when my next dd hits.

My deal was $25 for making the night show, and if he made the main then I'd pay $25 a lap where he was in 10th or better, and $100 a lap where he was top 5.

I'll commit to the same deal for New Orleans.

Who's willing to pony up for the same deal? Every lap of the main where he's 6th,7th,8th,9th or 10th -- $25/lap. Every lap of the main where he's 1st, 2nd,3rd,4th,5th -- $100/lap.

Don't be chicken-shits, take the pledge!

I appreciate and totally dig what he's doing with the 2 stroke but damn..... I don't mind kicking in a few bucks but I'd rather see myself on a new bike than some guy I've never met.

Yeah, I don't think he's gonna grab a holey and lead for 20 laps or even close. But if he rides his butt off he might be able to get up in the top 10 for a few laps.. who knows?!?

I was cheering on Doug Henry when he started riding the 400.. this feels the same to me (even tho I know in my head the 125 isn't on its way up like the YZF was). I am a sucker for the underdogs running off-brand stuff. Cheered on Cannondale in the early 00's. Loved the Trials guys ruining it for the top off-road guys in Endurocross on the funky looking bikes.

YEP. PAID IN FULL for Daytona and doing it again for New Orleans. Best Money we have spent on pro racing in years.

For N.O. we are sending:
$100 now
$150 when he makes it to his qualifier
$700 to make the main.

There, It's on paper.
--------

Your sponsorship idea is solid. He got more exposure than most of the riders who finished the race. Over 38,000 hits on this site alone across a few threads. That's marketable.

Looks like Vital made some cash off this kid too! Maybe they could throw him a bone for bringing the traffic?

Who cares if its a 144?....Maybe it will FINALLY make the AMA pull their heads out of their asses and be coearced into amending the rule for the lites to be 144 or 150cc's. It wont hurt any of the bigger teams as their 250f's still run mid 40's in HP ..... They should amend the rule so that some 2 strokes can attempt to compete not be completely abandoned. On the pulp show Ricky said about a triple that he didnt think he would make it and overshot the landing by 20' .....that sounds like more than enough power to run with a 250f on a sx track and outdoors if done correctly.....Any team that protests or if the AMA raises a stink about it should slap themselves IMO.

Ricky ..... call Eric Gorr, he can build you a very powerful yet reliable 144, dont give up on the 144 yet even GYTR makes a 144 kit you could use. Id rather you ran a 144 so there may be a chance the AMA changes the rule to be 144 or 150cc's for the lites 2 strokes. You would be a test case to see how "evenly" it stacks up against 250f's as its painfully obvious the 125 isnt close to a 250f.

Eric Gorr - (630) 825-5645.

He may be so stoked for you to run one of his kits that he helps you out a little to promote his 144 kits, ive spoken to him a few times and he sounds like a good dude.

Please do a 144 and campaign to get the rule updated ..... it would pave the way for a lot of 144cc riders to make a splash in the lites sx class that dont have the money to build a full modded 250f engine.

The GYTR kit is made by Athena... Which is the same kit he ran. The Athena 144 is very unreliable compared to a well built 144. Also, it needs a lot of port work to run worth a crap.

I didn't think Ricky would even make the night show let alone be in position to make the main, not because of his ability just because the bike disadvantage.

I have to say I was very impressed and will not under estimate him at the next one.
