Just wondering why Mitch never lets his guys ride the 450 class on the opposite coast from which they are racing? It seems like Dean is a little bit slower than Tomac and Seely at the moment. I know Dean is in the points lead but there is nothing better than racing. Especially since they have a 450 out there anyway.

PC has a very tight relationship(pussy) with kawi and monster. So factory kawi doesn't want the competition in the big class.

I also assume that is why there is no longer a factory Kawi 250 team.

In 92 MC ran some east rounds on a PC/splitfire CR 250, that bike has been for sale a few times.

Why would they need to do that?

PC dominates the lites class and is basically contending the championship on both coasts every year.

Kawi has a dominate rider in Villopoto in the 450 class.

Every year Kawi has a legit chance of sweeping every title when all riders are healthy. I just think it's understood that PC and Kawi have an agreement to work together to win championships, but they do not seem to encourage/want competition from each other in the classes (minus the Tickle situation.)

IMHO, the PC 450 is just as good as the Kawi 450. PC has the resources to do anything they need to do with the bike regardless of their factory support level.

Mitch has let his riders do it in the past on 2-strokes. From interviews he says the real problem with doing it is logistics. All their guys are focused on the Lites program. With a 450 rider there comes addition testing, extra parts, extra wrench, extra spotter to watch practice and Mitch himself has to split his time even more. Plus at no point was Kawasaki willing to pay for it until Tickle needed a spot to fulfill his contract. In short it's a far bigger pain in the ass than it's worth when your goal is Lites championships.

Mitch also doesnt like his guys taking "unnecessary risks", notice his guys rarely do one off events like X games, monster cup, ect (hanny is a special case cause X games is in his contract) His riders rarely are allowed to do any races outside the nationals and the coast they ride in SX

That was the McGrath bike that Jeremy raced in 4 or 5 east coast rounds back in 1992. A friend of mine here in Texas had it for a while and sold it recently. Cool bike, don't know if there ever was another actual Team Peak CR250. Still had the AMA tech inspection tags on it from 92.

Oh, and about everyone who was drooling over the Reed bike on ebay and how they would pay 25 grand for it in a heartbeat.....this bike , an actual King of SX Jeremy freakin McGrath race ridden bike failed to bring a buy it now of $7500.00 on ebay. Now the Reed bike was gorgeous and all but what would it be worth a few years from now?

Not that Reed's bike is a steal or anything, but it would cost more than 25k to buy a new bike off the showroom floor and send it to PC for everything they can do to it. Local guy did that for his pro son, then when the kid went overseas to race he tried to sell all the bikes. He was having difficulty finding people willing to pay $7500 for them.

Yeah it's weird how there is such a depreciation value for race bikes. The owner knows what they are worth and a racer looking to buy a bike like that knows what the bike is worth, but it's so difficult to get fair price for the bike.

Kit supension is a good example I see alot. A Showa "a" kit can cost nearly $10,000 for fully tricked out for forks and shock, but they go on Ebay alot of times for $1-3500 after they are used.

That's the bike, I would love to have that in my garage.

Not the best looking bike in my opinion, but the collectability value of this bike for the die-hard McGrath fan is way up there. What's the story on the yellow plates?

Not 100% sure on that but possibly could have been a number ran by McGrath at Mammoth Mountain that year? We were looking for some results or photos from Mammoth 92 but never could come up with anything. Was told he raced it that year. Other than that it could have just been a number the previous owner had on it, not sure. Youtube has the 92 SX races where he rode it.

Sounds crazy to me that the CR slipped by for $7500.
You would think that bike would be worth a small fortune.
Everything in this day and age is ass backwards.

The 250 was unrestored and all original. This jewel of a 125 was sold with the 250 and it too was having trouble fetching a decent bid as well. Totally restored by Vital member Bill163. Even had the alloy tank that Pro-Circuit had built when the painted plastic tanks wouldn't make it through the week. Eventually the right person comes along with the desire to own them and the funds to purchase.

My brain my be effin with my but am I the only one that recalls mike brown riding a 250 2 stroke for pro circuit? Probably 2001 or 2002...number 100 if memory serves correctly.

I could have sworn he did but there is never any talk of it

Through the years of the 2-strokes lots of Mitch's guys did. Pichon was another that ran most of the opposite coast back in '96.

my buddy bought a 02 kx 250 from pro circuit that they told him was Mike Browns, it had the off the shelf parts on it and a revalve for him, but it was nothing special and they told him they took the good stuff off, i think in the back of cycle news they used to advertise charmichaels 125s as team bikes , prolly just a good way to unload some practice roaches, dam i miss the cycle news you could hold in your hand
