Hey guys,

Race season is around the corner up here in Canada and I just picked up my new bike a few weeks ago. I am an intermediate rider taking the advantage of the new rule CMRC came out with. The rule states that riders can race 250 two strokes in the MX2 classes. In Canada we as intermediates can race pro nationals in the MX2 because it is considered a "pro/am" class. I plan on racing the 5 eastern rounds in the MX2 pro class. 250 vs. 250.

Now for the set up.....

Picked up a brand new 2012 YZ 250 from Machine Racing

Sure does have an ugly stock exhaust system!!

I dropped it off at my engine builder D4 Performance and told him to build me a "250-f killer"
He sure built me one....

We tested different motor settings on the dyno and came up with an awesome setting. I made sure that i was able to run pump gas to save some coin until we do some more mods for the race season. The bike is currently spec'd for pump gas and pushes 54 HP.
The best setting we had was with 110 and we got great results.....
Stock Motor vs. D4 Modified Motor + Race Fuel

57.5 HP!

Surprisingly the best exhaust set up was the FMF factory fatty with the stock silencer. The stock silencer gave it more ponies and it revved out marginally further. The FMF titanium 2 is a short pipe and DOES have a much larger hit in the torque region.

Now as far as mods to the engine and carb go.... i have no idea what he did. I know how to twist the throttle and change the filter. But here is the list of bolt on parts we got for it:
- FMF factory fatty pipe
- FMF titanium 2 silencer
- Light speed disc cover
- Light speed glide plate
- Works connection radiator braces
- Works connection pro perch
- Sunline brake lever
- IMS wide pegs
- Excel Rims
- V4ORCE reeds
- Boyeson ignition and clutch cover
- Hinson clutch
- Some sort of over sized disc

Thought some of you two stroke fans would like a story like this! Hope you enjoyed! Hopefully i get some TV coverage with some massive holeshots!! !Silly .

Nice bike for sure.

From what i understand the CMRC's new rule meant that you could only run 250 two strokers in the MX2 class in regional races. Are you sure you can run them in MX2 in pro nationals?

So when you asked for a 250F killer he told you to duct tape 4 bricks to the motor and stuff a rag in the carb?

I see the inspiration for this purchase in the background in the photo. Another totaled 250F roller.

Keep us updated. we want video!

Great looking bike man love the clean look and thanks for not putting monster graphics on it. The KXF in the third pic makes this post though haha

Because the average old fat toad can't handle a 57hp 2-stroke. I can barely handle my bone stock 06 yz250. Hellava nice machine there BTW, oh your going to need a gripper seat too.

looks really nice. FMF sst pipe was really good on the 04-06 YZ 250s I had. Light Speed makes TI Pegs that are rally good. Best of luck!!

Sharp bike! Good luck

I'd like to say that I'm as pro-2-stroke as they come, and ride a 2005 RM250, but 57.5hp on that particular dyno may be 53.5hp on another dyno. They're really for comparative purposes, but it's still pretty sweet that you picked up close to, what, 10hp stock? That's insane! I bet it didn't really cost that much, either.

yeah im not too familiar with dyno testing but you could be right. we gained 11.5 hp from stock which is unreal! the best part is that we spent around 2000 for everything on the bike. Motor, parts, suspension. etc. etc.

You certainly won't have any excuses for not pulling a holeshot every time you line up on the gate.

11.5...Awesome! I couldn't see the picture very well. But yeah, 2 grand and 11.5hp. And a good bit of that 2 grand went into carbon fiber goodies, wheels, engine covers, controls, brakes, and a clutch.

Will you be doing 25 minute +2 lap motos on it? That power delivery may be a handful at the end of the moto. A little extra flywheel weight may help.
