Reded I have to disagree with you....the 09' crf 450 is by far the best bike I have ever raced...I did things on that bike I didnt think I could have ever done ( 4th place on open day at Mammoth)

Jspin its rider preference, but I highly recommend it......

I love my 2010 CRF. Way better bike for me than my 09 Kawi.

Take an 09 crf450 and spend $300 bucks. 200 for link and 100 for stiffer fork springs and you have yourself a 2012 crf 450. Which is a great handling bike. Enjoy...

Hell yeah, I was racing my 1996 CR250 very happily, and looking forward to a 1997 with the trick new frame and shit....my buddies got their 97's first, I rode them for a few laps and about puked. I hated those bikes.

I rode the hell out of that 1996 until 2000.

The 09 is a great bike. Just fix the suspension. It's obvious the people hating on it, never had one.

I Sent you my number. The bike was Matt Crowns a local X pro here in Mich who now owes his own race shop. With all the work done to it I'm at $4,500 firm. Hopefully we can workout a deal.

if you are turning it into a dirt track bike, why not go the salvage route? there are tons of them out there. probably get one for 500-1000 bucks if you look hard enough at a power-sports auction, and have cash

The 2nd and 3rd gen frames were better though

This man speaks the gospel, especially that 09...and Im a honda fan.
only other bike you could add to this list to be the worst ever is the 2007 YZF450

My post regarding actually wanting a 97 CR250 was sarcasm for the OP wanting a 09 450F. duh. Vitards are not that
bright.

Here's mine in the trim you're looking for.

It was by far the best MX bike I've ever ridden. It's now the only dirt track bike I've ever ridden. Riding an 07 CR250 smoker for MX now.

The 2007 yzf was the worst turning bike they ever made. Grant Langston even said a stock 2010 that he rode out of the crate was better than his 2007 outdoor bike he won on. I owned that 07 for as short a time frame as possible (bought it brand new) then got the 08 CRF450.

I also sat in on a YAM testing meeting with other random racers or weekend trail riders at a catered dinner with some Japaneese engineers to discuss design plans for their future bikes and our (average consumers) responses to YAM ideas, and anyone in the room that rode or raced on tracks said the same thing about the 07 yam.

The 08 Honda 450 I switched over to was pretty good, but ended up taking fast chop to violently and had too much shake in the front end compared to my 05 honda (the rake was off or something). I never did find a fix to that, the 08 took huge hits good, just was a rough ride. The 09 Honda was an absolute pile ask anyone that raced it in 09, yikes. Milsaps and other Honda riders wanted back on the 08 once that 09 hit, then 2010 was a relief to the 09 mess. From 2011 on i guess they got all issues worked out on the hondas.

The only people that I hear like that 09 is someone that dont race motocross with it.
