Dude cut Ralph some slack. It is a hard job and he does a pretty good job. Remember the Cameron Steel years? Fro and Ralph are way better.

I'm sorry, but I really don't see how people can defend the guy. He constantly makes the stupidest sounding remarks and, in my opinion, really takes away legitimacy from our sport. He may be a good speaker who doesn't stumble over his words, but I'd much rather hear Emig, RC, and Weigandt stutter every once in a while, while trying to say something intelligent and relevant to moto, than listen to Ralph spew an everlasting stream of stupidity into the homes of Supercross fans around the country.. The announcing for outdoors is worlds better than Supercross. There's no reason why they can't be equals.

My favorite is when he just belts out ( completely cutting out RC and Emig) AND BLABLALALALA WINS THE AMA SUPERCROSS AND BLABLAAAHAH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. I feel like saying yes Ralph we see this.

am i the only ex mx racer that gets erked when they describe mx/sx racing as a 'show'? to me its a competition.they train and live for this sport. the 'show'? just seems degrading to me.

You can look at it both ways. You can be happy its on TV each week and look past all the crappy announcing. Or you can look at it as a professional sport and think it deserves to be represented that way by the announcers. Judging by the way Feld handled the crash last night, they see the sport as they see monster truck racing.

I care about the commentating because people who aren't racers or ex-racers watch this stuff too. Of course I'm happy that Supercross is on TV. Yeah, it's annoying to me, but I still watch it. However, do you really think that people outside of our sport are going to take it seriously when it's portrayed to the masses as more of a carnival side show than an actual sport? People at my school compare Supercross to Monster Jam. Those kinds of comments piss me off considering I train my balls off every week for a sport that gets no credibility for the hard work and effort that the athletes put into it.

Ralph is pretty bad, but it's called broadcasting...to a BROAD audience. Fro is there for the actual moto people, Ralph is there for the 'older guy with kids' demographic...both buy bikes.

Sure Ralph isn't as good as Eckman imo but he's hardly terrible either. He's much, much better than Cameron Steel who somehow managed to make every race sound like an X Games FMX final. Those years really were unbearable. I think we all picture ourselves sometimes as SX/MX commentators and how great we'd be, particularly in Jeff's role - the analyst. But the reality is that it's a bloody hard job.

God I fucking hate hearing people pull the, "well at least it's on TV, shut up whiners" bit. It should be live, it should have professional commentators, it should be a sport, not just some whimsical show that comes through towns once a year. SX is like the circus - tattooed freaks, daredevil acrobatics, scantily clad women whoring themselves out for some magic energy tonic.

You guys don't understand TV. There is SUPPOSED to be one guy that is a moron. He represents the masses. He is there to ask the "dumb" questions that the casual viewer would want to know. If all we had up there was Emig, Bailey, and RC type dudes, they would speaking in mx slang and nobody but us would know wtf is going on and tv ratings would drop.
